Food had to be sent back twice as both the chicken and steak was under cooked.
The lady handling our food couldn't stop playing with her puppy then touching our food without washing her hands.
We eneded up walking out. Absolute waste of money.

Great Japanese cuisine in a country pub. The sashimi plate was superb, with the sweet scallops taking the prize for deliciousness. The salmon and tuna were a little bland, suggesting 'frozen', and the kingfish was tasty. The grated daikon, pickled ginger, and wasabi were nice accompaniments, but the seaweed was the standout. I could've eaten a bowl of it by itself. Presented beautifully. Unfortunately, the very delicious octopus balls with the most delicious bonito flakes and BBQ type glaze arrived in a cardboard boat. Confusing to say the least. The Speckled Drongo pale ale was a fine pairing with the food. The lady serving behind the bar was friendly and welcoming, as was the chef. Moderately priced, but worth it if you enjoy good sashimi and Japanese food. There were also lots of sushi rolls ready for a quick bite.

Loved the Shokudou Japanese restaurant menu, try the delicious Lismore Rainbow Roll or the Channon Dragon Roll. They also have rump steaks or pork schnitzels plus plenty of starters or a menu for the kids. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Well worth the lovely drive out there.

So refreshing to have Japanese food at a country tavern. The food and service is excellent! Love the atmosphere outside.

Absolutely fabulous!! What an awesome surprise!! Fantastic Japanese lunch. Really very, very great tasting. Friends had their dog there too. And a lovely , relaxing Sunday afternoon band! A truly beautiful drive too. Definitely going back there!

I'm very happy with this place since they re-opened. The staff seem cool yet professional. Atmosphere is cosy and welcoming. No pokies or TAB which is great. The food is affordable, amazing and quick. The new lounges are great too.

Quaint little spot perfect for a Sunday drive - but we're here to talk chips specifically. These were okay. I liked the seaweed sprinkle but tasted a little like they came out of a freezer bag from the supermarket. Lacking crunch and salt, they need a season.

Lunch of Japanese food and some cold ciders on the terrace. The food was excellent, fresh, and well presented. Highly recommend a bowl of fresh hot chips with your sashimi. Why is this combination not available everywhere?!
Friendly staff in an airy and welcoming country pub.

The new Japanese kitchen is incredible. We had the fresh salmon hand rolls & a salmon deep fried tempura which was to die for.
Will definitely be back!!

Very unusual opening hours, we stopped in for lunch on a Friday but it was closed up, like a ghost town.

Very popular on a Sunday arvo. Lots of people there and a Hamburger trailer. Music was a bit loud and not really our cup of tea.

Great food, friendly staff but book if you can. Even if it's just before you go it's worth it. There wasn't a chair to spare when we left today at 1pm and people were standing, waiting and we watched them put reserved signs on most of the tables before 12:30 and by one there was standing room only.

Just amazing. Best meal (brisket and grilled barra salad) I've had in a long time. Massive portion sizes. Super welcoming staff also for kids - even got an activity pack for our 2-year-old. Outdoor seating next to kids playground makes it easy to have a relaxed time with young kids as well. Bar staff is friendly and pours a great pint. This place is not only quantity but also quality, highly recommended.

We arrived with not much time before the kitchen closed and they were incredibly accommodating, even adding vegan options!

Wonderful staff, food and location. We really couldn't be happier and highly recommend this establishment to anyone in the area. They went above and beyond and delivered and exceptional dining experience to a group of weary travelers at the last minute. Unforgettable.
