I have not been here previously. It was clean, light filled (inside downstairs), and a good atmosphere. We had a work lunch here with about 30 people. They managed all the lunches just fine, rather promptly even. The staff were polite, had the meals orders well organised and no one had to put their hand up when a meal came out. I had a baked barramundi salad - it was good, and I'd recommend my wife have it if we go back there.

The shnitzels were normal size, which some of the guys were disappointed about, but maybe all these super-size schnitzel challenges have raised the bar on the minimum standard (size) for a schnitty.

I'll go back there for sure, maybe even for a few drinks after work, or on the weekend with my wife and kids.

I was told "sit anywhere there isn't a menu"then told to move as regulars use that table "every body knows that" even though there isn't a menu. The lamb stew I expected from the British Hotel would be like a British one was flavoured with herbs I would expect on an Asian disk. A large Shiraz is $20 - so disappointing

The team at The British are friendly and warming , great cosy place for a meal and a pint. Kids are welcomed and lots of space. We will definitely go back there and support our local

Renovations don't take away from the history of the hotel.
Friendly staff, reasonably priced food, and a great vibe. Give it a go!

It was a very enjoyable meal, just a nice size. My husband had a beef schnitzel and it was a thick piece of meat instead of a thin dry piece of crumbed meat. So will go back

Great local in PA SA for a good half price steak and beer on Wed.

They pour a great Kilkenny and Guinness.

The location was good, and the service was excellent.
The meals were on the small size. The other 3 people with me also mentioned their meals were on the smaller size.

Garfish was superb.
Service was exceptional.
Staff were genuinely interested and attentive.

Toughest steak I have ever paid for and didn't eat all of. Advised at payment and was told they would let the kitchen know. The dining experience view and decor was like an RSL. Will not go back.

I visited with a group of 14 people for lunch. The service was great and the food was good.

Two in the group ordered a BLT wrap and were not too impressed with the sweet chilli sauce in the wrap.

We recently held a 21st in the riverside room. The venue, food and staff were amazing.
Ash and his team was extremely attentive and accomodating through the whole process, we couldn't have asked for more.

Went for lunch for 5 people. Service was excellent. Nice and clean. Small play area for kids. Bottled water on table. Soup and garlic bread was very tasty.

Meal was very very ordinary. New menu, no excuse. Terrible schnitzel. Thin and dry. Barramundi was small, over cooked. Chips Terrible, dry. Garden salad 2 slices cucumber, 2 slices flowery tomato, some thinly sliced red onion, little grated carrot and small bits of butter lettuce leaves. No salad dressing. The whole service was very haphazard. Won't be recommending or going back in the near future. So sad. Use to be really good.

So sad and disappointed. Heard from lots...top schnitzels. It was dry, grizzly, tough and tasteless.
Could tell by how dark the crumbs were it was cooked too long. Staff avoided us as could see only salad and taste of schnitzel taken. Won't ever go back. Even latte was served barely warm. When people go out for a meal they expect better than what is prepared at home. Sad to say it didn't even come close. I used to work at the British some time ago. Although a much nicer looking establishment these days, food a lot better then.

Took part in a conference in the upstairs room. Good facilities and friendly staff. Morning tea provisions were tasty and plentiful.

Lunch was ready on time but we overran, so the chips were cold but that's not their fault. The schnitzel was a little dry and small and the chips felt cheap, so was a little expensive for what was provided. Everything else was great.

Very tasty food with decent portions and with a great drinks menu to compliment. Very affordable prices, and service is always friendly and quick. Atmosphere is usually quiet but not a bad thing, can always grab a seat with a walk in

Revamped, freshened up premises makes this a nicer place to visit. Do yourself a favour. It's a a great spot for lunch, for dinner or a corporate function too.

Great atmosphere, incredible inside, there is many different areas to dine in like a lounge
area, more casual area or even fine dine area along with friendly staff, great service and food came out fast as well and it was delicious. We came on a Monday and they had schnitzel day which was a great deal. We got choice of beef or chicken snizel with chips, salad, gravy & a drink for only $20. Also love how they try to support other small businesses at the same time like they had paintings inside the pub which you could buy as well. Love that supporting each other especially through tough times.

First time here, not the greatest of experiences due to a variety of factors but willing to return and hope the next experience is better.

Some oysters had a bit of a funky smell to them, which the manager happily replaced at no cost.

Grilled garfish was very undercooked, almost to the point it was straight out of the ocean.. maybe a couple minutes more on the grill would've been satisfactory.

Manager was a great help however some of the younger wait staff got quite hostile when we raised our complaints. I understand they were short staffed and probably feeling the pressure however not really an excuse for hostility. one complaint about the oyster odour was met with "oh sorry I'm not sure" and she walked off. After raising our complaints the quality of service dropped from everyone apart from the manager who was understanding and helped to the best of his abilities.

May have just been a bad night to attend, will give it another go soon and hopefully a better experience.

Very clean and modern Hotel with all modern facilities. Friendly staff with great service and wide range variety meal available on the menus to choose from. Great place for a function close to accommodation and main transport routes through Port Adelaide.

Recently renovated pub looks good and the dining area is well laid out and offers a pleasant atmosphere.
The menu is average with several menu items showing as not available at our lunchtime visit but a reasonable cross section of food and sides. I found the salt & pepper squid somewhat over the top in thick crispy crumbs akin to KFC wicked wings leaving the squid secondary.
Prices were however reasonable and competitive

Good food and service, try the Lamb shank with Angel pasta, delicious.

A big loyal supporter of the British Hotel Port Adelaide ! Great service, fantastic reasonable prices, great steaks, salt pepper squid, and oysters on Friday's! Great range of wine and reasonably priced! It is my favourite food place, always fresh and great professional service! When I come to town! A must put this one on your list !!next to the bridge and easy parking at port Adelaide ! We had a steak chips salad $17.90 fantastic ! Well done !

Myself and a LOT of others from a wedding (we had a 1.5 hour break between ceremony and reception) bombarded this pub. Juliette and her co-worker were absolutely incredible at taking care of a very unexpected influx of hot and thirsty people. I'll be back for sure. Such incredible customer service.

Great atmosphere and friendly service is the only reason for the 4 start rating as the seafood platter was not so impressive for the price. With nearly everything battered it was a bit much, perhaps a grilled option would be good as the fish was tasty but with the crab and calamari also battered it was a bit much. We didn't care much for the crab which we were very keen on trying. The oysters and octopus were lovely though and the portion size was good, we had some to take home. I wouldn't order it again as it was very pricey but I am sure they do great food, the seafood platter just wasn't for us.

Good pint of Guinness and bar lady was really nice. Some parts of the bar are modern but still has an older feeling to it which I liked. Didn't eat as had different plans but menu looked good and reasonable.

The oldest hotel in Port Adelaide looks pretty well fitted and kitted out.

Very friendly staff. It's seems to be popular for group and family events.

Business functions would be well suited here also.

It's Kinda spooky down in the cellar. Well worth a look!

Like the updated look of the hotel. Also like to selection of beers to choose from.
