Great pub out in the country, with a solid pub feed if looking for one. Highly recommend. The service was great, if you enjoy a bit of good humoured sass with the care to ensure you're having a good time. The live music (both times we visited) was great too, and just adds to the atmosphere.

We had a wonderful time for our Birthday celebration lunch. Karen greeted us with such warm energy which made the best start to an incredible lunch. All the staff were outstanding and the food was so delicious. Massive thank you to you all. We will definitely be back again.

We had a lovely family meal in the bistro. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was great and not overpriced and the room was nice and cool on a very hot day. Will definitely visit again.

This place can't be faulted.

From the incredible staff, to the beautiful atmosphere and the food... oh the food!

We recently went to dinner with 10 of us 7 adults and 3 children. The staff were so attentive to our children constantly interacting with them and making us feel like we were just at another relatives house. I don't think I ever caught a moment where a staff member wasn't smiling or interacting kindly with the customers. The food is incredible there's just nothing more to say! There meals are just made with love!

Would recommend to anyone and everyone I possibly can! From a date night to a family reunion. This place will exceed your expectations.

We can't wait to return ?

We had lunch at the Inn today. It was lovely and cosy with the fire place going.
The food was so lovely from the winter menu. They meals were a generous size.
Parking was a bit hard to find in the carpark. We needed to park up the road.

We have been stopping in Berrima for many years and when we do we always have a few drinks and a meal at this majestic old pub. It's history makes us feel connected in some special way.
This time we were greeted by some new a young staff??'?.
Without a doubt they add so much more to the whole experience of visiting "The Pub".
They are a breath of fresh air and a tribute to the owner and to what the next generation can do. We're only sorry we didn't get their names.
Thanks girls we look forward to seeing you next year when we come back for a meal.

We ate at the pub on Saturday. The steak sandwich and salmon nicoise were absolutely delicious
Good to see the menu has changed with a more modern approach.
Waited along time for a drink, didn't seem to be anyone in the bar.. will be down again next weekend for a wedding, definitely be back for lunch.

We came here for a lunch stop whilst in the Southern Highlands. It's an historic pub, one of the oldest in NSW. It's got a cost atmosphere, with a fireplace to keep warm during the winter months. The food was good and hit the spot. We got the fish and chips, salt and pepper calamari and trout salad. Portions were reasonable, as were the prices. Good beers on tap to wash it all down. Worthy of a stop, if you're in the area.

On a visit to the southern highlands recently I took my mum out for lunch here. It is not just a pretty building, the food was outstanding as well. The steak was the most tasty and tender steak I have had in a long while. I recommend this as great place to go to relax kick back and have a fanatic feed.

Food: not good.
Garlic bread: You could knock a nail in with it. Think it'd been heated several times to the point of incineration.
Caesar salad: ok but again a slice of reheated prosciutto which made it go rubbery. One weird anchovy swimming amongst the lettuce.
Schnitzel: extremely overcooked and dry. Needed a saw to cut through. Chips no better.
Pub is great but what's with the food?

The atmosphere was amazing, however we were left overall disappointed with the service and meal.

We ordered the beef burgers and the cheese was the cheap plastic wrapped slices and when we placed the order we specified no tomato sauce. I was assured the special burger sauce was not that. Burgers came out and apparently their idea of "burger sauce" was just tomato sauce and mustard.

The food did come out quickly so that was a plus and the pricing was not too bad.

A great little country pub. It's a sandstone building in an iconic spot in the middle of historic Berrima. Good variety of meals and probably spans across anyone's budget.

Friendly staff that are always welcoming, super efficient and polite.

Also central to the rest of the highlands. I always take clients, guests and friends and they all enjoy it!

We have been here about 10yrs ago and it was good. Our recent visit though was extremely disappointing. The fish was cold and the chips were hardly cooked and the advertised salad that comes with the meal was about five pieces of lettuce drenched in dressing. There was no tomato, cucumber, onion or anything, just lettuce! My son ordered a 'bucket of chips' (as advertised on the menu board) for $10. What he got was a SMALL plate of chips that weren't cooked properly. We will never be going here again again after speaking with some local people, apparently they don't like the food either! So disappointing.

I can't comment on the venue as a whole as the service was so awful we chose to go elsewhere. We didn't have a booking and while we were more than happy to sit outside, it was raining so we sought a table inside to have a quick drink. Most were reserved but we found one that was free and didn't have a booking coming in for the next 1.5hours. As we didn't plan to stay more than 30/40mins I asked a waitress if we could use the table. The waitress refused and was incredibly rude and patronising while doing so. When I pointed out that the table was free for the next 1.5hours and that we didn't plan to stay that long she stated it must be kept free in case the people who booked it turned up early. This must be the only venue in the world that has a policy to refuse patrons to use a table that isn't currently booked. We won't be returning.

Went for lunch on a long weekend. It was busy but the staff were excellent. Ordering our food was quick and easy. The tables were cleaned as soon as they were vacated. We had to wait a while for our food but considering how busy they were, it wasn't too long a wait. When the food arrived it was hot and fresh and delicious. Meal portions were good value. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Toilets were clean.
Great atmosphere.
We've been before and will be going back again soon.

I've had some very good pub meals here over the years. Love the big pickle that comes with the fish and chips. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere too, although some of the seating is not that comfortable and the dining areas can be cold if you're not near the fire. On a recent visit we tried the desserts and my much anticipated Milo tart was not fresh. It tasted like freezer burn, awful. Would be 5 stars if not for this.

A great pub in the heart of Berrima big roaring fire and great for a Sunday roast.
Does get very busy between 1230 and 2 so go for an early or late lunch a lot quieter..
The public bar next door is great for a beer..if your down this way do yourself a favour and pop in to this beautiful sandstone establishment.

My husband and I had a shared platter at lunch time and could not complain. Back for dinner and once again lovely. Steaks cooked the way we wanted them and the staff were lovely especially Keran. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Nothing was to much of an effort for her.

On probably one of the coldest days of the year, we sat next to a lovely fire and had the best baked gnocchi and garlic bread. Bliss! The service is so very friendly in this gorgeous historic pub and we congratulated ourselves on being in such a lovely place, with such delicious food. Can't wait to go back.

Lovely old historic inn built in 1834 with a warm and cozy interior and plenty of outdoor seating for warmer days. It has old fashioned pub feel. The gnocchi dish was homemade, light and fluffy with a delicious sauce. I wish I had ordered it. The fish and chips were apparently delicious and crispy. I can honestly say the chips are excellent but I was terribly disappointed with the pork bun I ordered. It was one small slice of pork with a little coleslaw and apple sauce on a soft small brioche bun. Size wise it was ok for me but avoid if you have a large appetite. Hot drinks are limited and the bar selection basic. Staff seemed friendly. Probably closer to 4 ?? than 3 so let's say 3.5 ??

A gorgeous and quaint pub, ideal for a quiet drink after a short walk along the river and a real history lesson complements of the information plaques. As for the inn, I do recommend you visit it ...

A terrigic historic hotel with big bistro in Berima. The building is built from sandstone blocks and renovated with hand made bricks at some stage.
Unique because of its age.

Sad to see such a historic place become so mainstream and commercial, used to be great! Schnitzel meal so small my 8yr old son asked for another (not at $23) half the size of most pubs! Service disappointing. My wife got several pieces of gravel in her meal, a very condescending staff members solution was to have it refried, which destroyed it completely.

Claims to be the oldest working inn in NSW. Nice place to detour for a drink and some nice pub style food. Historic Berrima gaol sits next/behind it. Lots of lively little shops dotted on the main street. So if you a heading ACT way or up to Sydney, the Surveyor General is an enjoyable stop.

Outstanding food, and FYI not a criticism, a little on the high side of moderately priced. Situated in the Charming and historic community of Berrima. I will always remember this establishment as I stepped outside after dinner, I saw the Southern Cross for the first time.
