Hit and miss who cooks the food. Also if they leave the nachos under the heat lamps too long it tends to burn the nachos so important to get them out quick. Sometimes there is no staff to bring them out

Went here today to watch the UFC. The pub was great the food was amazing and the drinks were average prices.

Very friendly staff and even had kids and small dogs in the pub too.

It also has a designated area for smokers and really has a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend it

Ended up here for lunch after driving through Summer Hill. We thought with pub classics you really cant go wrong these days.
The pub was very quiet when we arrived only a small amount of tables expecting food and a few just drinking. Unfortunately, the food took forever to arrive. It was just fish and chips and a steak sandwich so should not have taken that long (at least 40 minutes). When they arrived I could see straight away that the fish was frozen - I've seen the same fish in cafe's and other pubs, 3 small sticks of fish in bland batter and to add to the disappointment of the fish the chips were almost cold. This was also accompanied by a sad, wilted side salad. $25

We also ordered a steak sandwich. The meat was just ok but a bit greasy and fatty and generally boring with way too much mayo which made the whole experience eating it just messy and oily. $25. We've experienced amazing fresh food in pubs for the same price or less. There seemed to be no reason the food took this long and arrive cold The service was friendly enough but this food was the worst I've had in ages.

The most sullen and unfriendly staff you are likely to encounter in any hospitality environment. If you can get a smile out of any of these people seemingly stuck in their own personal-nightmare then you may as well buy yourself a lottery ticket.

Order a cocktail and you'll be lucky to receive it at all, without a reminder or two to the bar staff. Order food, it will come out minutes after it was prepared, cold when it arrives.

The good news is there is some nice beverages on tap and sports on the screen. A shame the service forgets what industry it works in.

A great place to hang out with friends and family. Price-wise there is not much difference compare to other competitors but the food is good with big portions. I will definitely recommend you to come and enjoy the vibes. We were there on Wednesday when they had the trivia nights.

Venue is decent but they participate in false advertising. The venue has multiple signs out front advertising beer of the month $7 pints.

This is actually incorrect and the venue doesn't not have any such promotion. It's against the law to falsely advertise the Department of Fair Trading is very clear about this.

The nice female bar staff was polite and informed that no such promotion has ever existed that they knew of and didn't agree with signs being in place.

If you advertise something you must provide what's you have advertised by law.

On my second the drink the male bar staff member was polishing glasses. He totally ignored me after I said hi to serve an older guy who literally walked in the door while I stood at the bar waiting.

He didn't even say hello one moment just ignored me serve someone who came after me. Is there something wrong with my money?

I don't care if you're a known local or not everyone deserves the same level of service.

Best pub ever. This is the only place I drink beer in the inner west and you can see the train go past. Food is incredible. Great outdoor screen. Pool table is as flat as central Australia. Will be back.

I've lived very close to this establishment for a bit over three years now. Let me just say, this place makes me feel safe. It is an outstanding establishment. Great food, great locals, awesome staff. Grub is good, and screens everywhere for footy in the winter, and cricket in the summer. Outstanding opening hours. Long live SHH.

Ordered steak n chips, beef nachos. When the nachos came out the beef was already cold, chips with the fries were unseasoned and average. Just thrown together slop really. Salt and pepper shakers were empty, told the blokes behind kitchen and they didn't really seem to care. I'd go back for a beer but not for food.

Pretty disappointing meal.
Got the chicken and beef burgers, which were well below average. The beef was tough and overly processed and the chicken burger was just bland and boring.
The rump steaks were awful. We asked for them to be done medium and they were very well done, chewy and dry. Such a rip off for $30 each.
We won't be back. Such a shame.

This pub struggles for appeal in certain ways. I work nearby and despite the uninviting decor and vibe, I have always commended the pub for the food which I feel has consistently been decent. Today I walked in and ordered my usual meal, and 20 minutes later was shocked by what was presented to me at my table. My meal was not prepared with any care, contents were found to lack the usual generous portions and the portions that did make the plate were horribly burnt. I queried the serving and asked for my meal to be addressed and what returned was barely an improvement. I did not enjoy the experience and have decided I won't be returning for food.

Great pub. There's even a pool table 'outside' so you can enjoy the fresh air whilst playing :-) The juke box inside is free so even better. You might have to ask the staff nicely to get it turned up a bit. It's often quite quiet...

This pub is in a great area and has a huge amount of potential, but unfortunately just misses the mark.

Money needs to be spent to make money and create a great local for a popular area. Everything is old, cluttered and lacks character.

A female bar staff (dyed red hair) handled a situation extremely poorly and if she is a manager, then there are bigger problems here.

Huge potential, but a lot of things need to change.

Value: average inner west pub prices
Parking: you can find street parking but it's right across from the station if you're coming by public transport

This is my local pub it's a nice area with friendly staff. It could use some more small group tables they have a few which fill up quickly and all that's left are tables for a group of 10 plus. They also seem to be short staffed.

I've been a good customer here for 10 years. But the manager spoke badly. Not taking care of customers, even less. I feel very sorry. I took the money to buy a drink And I'm not a beggar And not going to drink for free either. My money and myself are very valuable! I'm not going to rest there anymore. Goodbye.

Looks can be deceiving.
I wasn't expecting too much, but was pleasantly surprised to have had a very tasty burger and chips.
The ideal hangover cure. It definitely hit the spot.

I highly recommend the bistro, the food is absolutely delicious. Their mushroom risotto was one of the best I've ever had. All other meals were very good too. Staff are very friendly and provide great service.

Good vibes. Friendly staff and decent prices. Plenty of room around the pool table, so no need to worry about people getting in your way

Food was good sized portion, tasty and fair price.
However when I ordered dessert, took them 15mins to realise they had run out of the pudding to tell me. Should be better communication between the bar staff taking the orders and kitchen crew on what's available.

The trivia sound setup needs improving - sounds like the host is under water so it was very hard to hear the questions.

Went to SHH Friday before 6pm. Bar service was pathetic. Need more and better bar staff. Beer was good, cold and cheap $5 a schooner. Ordered Seafood Marinara as soon as I got there and was they had run out. Need more food to meet the menu. Good is good and reasonably priced. Went back on Saturday night to watch the football. Bar service was pathetic again even though there were not a large number of customers.

Absolutely loved it. My Nanny and Poppy used to go here in the 70's. I'm now 54 and was really excited to be able to go here. The staff were so lovely.

Better range of beers than other place, enough space for a small group even if very busy, solid range of beers on tap, and reasonable aesthetic.

It can get pretty noisy in the bistro area on a Friday night - to the point it's not that enjoyable to hang out there anymore - but that's hardly a bad thing, it just shows how popular the place is.

When specials are on, the value for food is excellent, so make sure to check when they're on. It used to be, and maybe still is, Tuesday night.

Great staff. Makeover was done very well. Food is good, but sometimes they put weird combinations together, depends on the chef. Beers are well priced and it's literally right next to the station. Pool table should be setup permanently though

Covid-19 safe premises with QR code check in on entry puts you at ease. I was only there brief time for a pleasant and relaxed beer before my train trip. An enjoyable experience at the Summer Hill Hotel.

The food is the tastiest ever. No exaggeration! They even make the greens tasty with the perfect ratio of salts and vinegar or whatever. The fries are tastiest in the world. And the chicken schnitzel itself. Well how could it be bad anyway, but it's all just perfect here!

Disabled access door was locked, and blocked by tables. Same with the disabled toilet. Had to send someone in to the bar to ask for the door to be unlocked, and tables moved, so that the door could be used to bring in a family member. Had to move tables out of the way so the disabled toilet could be accessed. Disabled access isnt a luxury, its a right.Food was delicious, really enjoyed the bistro. Drinks werent expensive, and the atmosphere was fine. Very family friendly.

A classic local pub opposite Summer Hill train station, it has a gaming room, small bar area, bottle shop & a large indoor and outdoor /balcony dining area where you can sit outdoors and see the train passing by. The food is classic pub fare & it comes out fairly quickly. Schnitzel is good as was the steak. Fries are always good especially the sweet potato fries. Servings are decent and weekday lunch specials are great value. Bar service is very friendly.
