Had US friend visiting and had the most fabulous lunch - started with perfectly made martini's and each course was absolutley perfect. Given a wonderful circular seat in the window and the service was attentive. Highlights were the prawn gnocchi and the cheese souffle.

A really nice boutique hotel. I was travelling for work so I stayed in their smallest room but it was still a present stay, clean bathroom, good shower and no road noise (room is not street facing). Every staff encounter I had was well above my expectations, they are the hotel's best asset. looking forward to returning.

My wife and I had arrived from interstate into Sydney, staying across the street, and I mentioned the good reviews I had read about The Strand and we decided to have dinner there.

We were warmly greeted and show to a table with an outside view. The wait staff were attentive and polite, I decided to try the Sydney Rock Oysters (I had never had these uncooked previously) and they were superb. I ordered the Grilled Murray Cod as a main, it too was fantastic. This was followed by desert, which was a Berry on frozen yogurt, mmm just great. I will be back for another serve of that!

Daniel and the staff made our first evening meal in Sydney a pleasure and we will return.

We had a few cocktails in the afternoon on the rooftop on Friday. It was sunny and lovely. We were made very welcome by the staff even though the many seats had bookings for 2 1/2 hours later. And we ordered some food which was reasonably priced and delicious. The DJ hit his head on that stupid fixture and the boss man made me a bit nervous by frowning a lot in my direction. Think I was sitting in prime realestate with no drink. We had a great afternoon. Thanks to the staff for making us so comfortable. Hope we didn't stay too long.

Great place for a date night. The food was 10 out of 10 and so was the cocktails. Big thanks to Daniel for going out of his way and providing exceptional service. Will definitely be back!

Hotel was exceptional value
Minimal in size and little extras like a hand written note were appreciated. High quality and staff were hospitable. Chic lounge and rooftop, also a restaurant that I'd like to try if had more time.
Ella was very helpful during my stay going above and beyond.

Head up the stairs to the Rooftop bar to escape the street noise and enjoy the views of Sydney. Can catch the breeze from the harbour up there so cooler in summer and colder in winter. If you have to drive, it's about 8 minutes walk from the Domain carpark, assuming you can't be bothered to look in the side streets.

The strand is one of the nicest places we have stayed in a while! The rooms are great value for money (whilst still being classy, romantic and luxurious), the staff are fantastic - Reuben in particular was amazing. Our rooms were always clean, food was delicious. This was the perfect place for our stay. We will be back!

Food only, no hotel. August 2023: Went for drinks and quick dinner in a group. Renovation is very nice, almost a bit too fancy! Definitely more a restaurant/bistro now than the pub it used to be! Drinks are priced as such (higher) but the food was pretty good and good value. Lacked a bit of vibe on a Thursday night (quiet and pretty empty). Probably most suited for a quiet dinner.

I was there for work, but had a chance for lunch, & to prep their rooms for an event.
Seemed like a nice cosy hotel/rooms, stylish decor & art.
Rooftop bar nice & airy, good view of William St & glass windowed balcony for a good view for people watching, with nice garden.
Location is central & convenient to CBD, & beautiful Hyde park, & nightlife of Potts Point.
The downstairs french cuisine restaurant & bar is well worth visit even without a planned overnight stay. Indescribable how flavourful & moorish the french cuisine here is. The staff service is on point, welcoming & pleasant. The Strand Hotel has peaked my interest enough, that I willingly recommend it to friends & visitors.

Stayed here for two nights with my family.

The rooms are pretty clean with a nice vibe to it. Hotel is located outside the shopping district of Sydney - approximately 12 minutes walk, across the park.

During the check in, we were greeted with 1 packet of white chocolate per room which was really tasty.

The best thing about this place would be the services provided by the staff. Special shoutout to Ruben. We accidentally left a bag there and he assisted us closely throughout the whole process of sending it back to our home country.

Overall, good experience and stay in this place.

This is the at least the 5th time I've stayed at The Strand while in Sydney for work and I'm planning on staying there for all future trips. The rooms are fantastic, the complimentary coffee and breakfasts are perfect, that staff always very helpful and being able to use City Gym is a great feature. There's a bit of street noise but that all gets quiet pretty early in the evening and doesn't bother me at all.

Every year four couples get together for a reunion. This year we selected The Strand Hotel and were delighted with the outstanding level of service, the great food and wine selection in the Bistro, the rooftop bar and the small touches such as pre-dinner drinks and snacks in the library as well as grouping all of us together in a cluster of rooms. It was very evident that the staff enjoy their work and have a clear focus on providing the best service possible - thank you! We will be back.

Wonderful location and within walking distance to some very nice shops and bakeries. Beautifully designed and the bed was very comfortable. But... on check in and check out there was no one at the counter to help even after arranging ahead of time on when I'll be arriving. The room has very thin walls and can hear everything that goes on in the corridor (cups being moved, things being knocked over etc). There was a very unpleasant smell in the stairwell that was quite off putting. Room can do with a bigger luggage stand as the one in the room is useful for a small bag only. Please note it's a walk up - not sure I saw that info on the site - be prepared to carry your own bag up and down.

A tip : put the contact details on the card holder - if something was to happen to a guest - it'll be good to have all the important info on the person and not have to walk to the lobby to get the contact number.

Wouldn't class as hotel - but rather a guest room of sorts.

Great location, really lovely large rooms and the staff are the best! We were in Sydney for a hospital stay and were feeling quite emotional. when things went wrong as they always do, including surgery postponed by a day. All the ladies at reception were brilliant, they went out of their way to help us. They even left us sweet treats and wine in the room with a lovely note...so impressed folks we will be back.

We were so, so impressed this venue. I book my husbands 40th on the rooftop. The service was 10/10, we were waited on hand and foot and no request was too hard for the staff. We can't tell you how happy we were. The manager on duty was so attentive and helpful. The food was unreal, everyone in the group was raving about it!! The drinks selection was great also. Thanks again guys! We hope to be back in the future."

I am reviewing the wonderful French style bistro. Banquettes, black and white tessellated tiles and an attractive bar make this a very appealing venue. The menu is fairly traditional as shoud be the case in a french bistro. I ordered the duck leg pie, which I thought was phenomenal. Good fries and salad and some good wine made this a quality mid week dining experience for a not unreasonable price. Forget some of Potts Point's overpriced venues. Walk down William Street to The Strand. There is a roof top bar too, but it wasn't open on a Tuesday night.

The word 'unique' doesn't do this place justice. Sensational rooms, beautiful linen (the biggest, fluffiest towels I've ever used!) and decor, fantastic rooftop bar, and wonderful bistro menu. Add extraordinary service from all the staff and you've got a place you'll come back to...7 times, like me! Just try it - you won't be disappointed.

I stayed here for 1 night as my son had to stay overnight at the East Sydney Hospital at the last minute. I was lucky enough to get a room in the motel at 8pm on a Saturday night. The manager was amazing I didn't get there until 9.30pm and was exhausted. He was lovely enough to bring me a glass of wine while I settled into my lovely comfortable room. It was spotless and so comfortable with everything I needed. Definitely go back. It's a shame I didn't get time to try the meals they looked yummy. Maybe next time.

Surprisingly good French bistro with elegant understated decor.

The food and service was really good. Tonight's serving staff was very on the ball even though she was the only one serving. The food was very tasty except we got a shock when the Toulouse sausages, mash and beans were drenched in a full plate of gravy! We would have asked for the gravy on the side if we knew. The Duck Leg Pie was tasty so was the French Fries.

The main course took quite a bit of time, although we enjoyed our meal but our experience was spoiled by the piercing noise. It is a small space, two customers were constantly screaming and laughing at the top of their lungs, because of this, other customers were also speaking loudly. It was quite unpleasant!

Anyhow, if you were lucky to have a quieter night, it's a lovely place to dine in.

Chose to visit the strand bistro for dinner as a random pick and was absolutely delighted with what a fantastic meal we had. The food was first class, tasty, well presented and the Resturant had a lovely warm vibe. Kid friendly with good size burgers at a great price. Overall the adult meals were a little more expensive than we had planned for but well worth the price. Will be back as a new favourite venue.

I don't normally leave reviews, but we had such a great experience here... it feels rude not to leave a compliment for the world to see. We spontaneously booked the petite room at a really great price WITH a complimentary G&T on arrival. It was very tiny but well designed and a great functional space. We thought that being on a main road, with a pub on the ground floor, it would be noisy, but it was actually nice and quiet in the room. Everything is so beautifully decorated, super clean and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The bistro is also beautiful and we loved the little library nook. Wonderful service and experience. Will definitely be back! ??

One of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. Service, ambiance and the food - truly outstanding.
And a real vibe on a casual rainy Tuesday.

My friends and I had a wonderful dinner at the new French bistro at The Strand. Firstly, the renovation is amazing, really stylish, beautiful and atmospheric. As it's a bistro, there's a real vibe to the place. The food was delicious and a great selection of wine. Our waiter was very friendly and professional and could answer questions and make suggestions. And with the roaring fire, a perfect way to spend a Friday evening with friends.

Honestly some of the best Bistro food I've had in Sydney. Wonderful restaurant / environment and incredible service too. Their recent renovation was really well done. The food was first class. Perfect flavours. In our group every plate was cleaned and everyone loved it! Definitely make it to desert.

Really hoping this review doesn't fall on deaf ears (or a blind eye if you will), as I'm quite a frequent flyer at The Strand. Beer is always cold and the staff are so amazingly friendly.

Unfortunately, certain aspects of the bar have changed, albeit only recently. Sometimes the pub doesn't open its doors until after midday. It would be a lie if I said it had only happened once. I even tried calling as I was with a couple of mates, but nobody picked up.

The new owners seem to be quite unreliable and are certainly distant from any sort of valuable customer service. This is rather obvious in the way they treat the bartenders in front of us punters. It truly makes every person in the establishment uncomfortable and awkward.

Again, hoping this doesn't end up in the round recycling cabinet, as action needs to be taken.

A good old fashioned Sydney pub with a good range to choose from. And they know the locals.

Absolutely cracker pub, english feel for food and drinks. Staff were lovely and the vibe inside the place was top notch, will definitely be returning.

Brilliant local pub that was closed due to Covid and then renovations for nearly 10 months this year. Recently reopened looking exactly the same as it did before the reno.Awarded 5 stars for not closing down completely. At some future time I may find a reason to actually go inside.

Went to the pub last night. I have been there many time before, but not for a long time.And wow has it change, happy to say for for the better
