View is great, that's where it ends. Food was mediocre for the price and tasted like it had been dropped in the deep fryer straight from the freezer. Staff seemed disinterested and bored. Maybe they could be cleaning the filthy toilets while they've got nothing to do? The toilet door was so sticky on entry, no hand towel (they also didn't have serviettes when eating), no soap (broken dispenser), just a bottle of sanitiser which was spilt all over the bench along with other people's hair. Topped off nicely with urine on the seat and floor along with tampon wrappers. The view in to the kitchen was of food scraps, rubbish on the floor and a dirty brick holding up the bench. Where do we order? Who knows...we eventually saw a handwritten sign advising us of where to go. All finished nicely when collecting our meals, with a staff member handing her friends chicken wings which they were chewing next to the food collection area while the staff member finished her mouthful before snatching my buzzer from me and plonking our meals on a tray which had other peoples left over food scraps on it. Menu's had gravy on them and were sticky. Basically hygiene was questionable. I would overlook all of the above if the staff were busy but with zero table service offered, I'd expect better on a quiet night and would suggest to the owner that their team are taking advantage of Sunday rates (or any rates). The whole place looks like it needs a good scrub. Would usually speak to staff directly over leaving a review but they were not approachable in the slightest and all looked like they'd rather be somewhere else.

We were here recently with friends and it was poor. Such small servings for the dips and not enough bread to share, and overpriced! We have lived nearby for 5 years and have sadly watched the food here go steadily downhill. We won't be back for food.

Beer garden is perfection, palm trees, wonderful views, they have pool tables, love music and Stone & Wood on tap... what more could you want!!
Only downfall I'd say the food we had was average but everything else is GOLD!!! Check it out for yourselves

Awesome pub, great accommodation, dog friendly and directly across from the beach!

Stayed at heads hotel for 1 night passing through town. Thrilled to find a place that is affordable, has dog friendly rooms, clean, big room, decent shower & aircon.

The pub is awesome! Has a great small beach town vibes, lovely staff, good food and great views - a whole 50m from our room!

For those bringing their dog - the pub is super dog friendly and has lots of outdoor seating, dog bowls and shelter as well if it rains. The off lead dog beach is also conveniently directly across the road from the pub!!

Don't get me wrong, I love the Heads hotel. It used to be my local, I just lived down the road.
Now that I moved away from Shoalhaven Heads, I drive a fair distance to go to the Heads hotel. It's no longer a case of just popping down, You plan a trip, and it's a special occasion. I really like the place.

So I booked and confirmed a table on their website, and I made sure to arrive on time.
There was some "mix up" and no table was available. There was also no effort made to find a solution, I was left to wonder through the bistro with my 85-year-old mum. There wasn't even an apology from the manager who was just too busy to attend.

This was not the first time. On my previous visit in August, I had the same experience: The booking got somehow "lost", no table available, and nobody cared to find a solution.

It's really sad to see how the management has allowed this beautiful place to go downhill.

Recently stayed with a large group. Excellent location for large groups, staff were super welcoming and accommodating. Delicious cocktails!! View from pub over the lake is stunning. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

This was exactly what I want from a budget hotel: clean, fresh, spacious rooms with a fridge and microwave, comfortable beds, fantastic location, an easy walk to the shops and beach, and friendly staff. We were a group of 19 staying for the weekend, and the hotel staff really went out of their way to accomodate us. I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

Great place. Just a suggestion to put on more bar staff on the weekends during peak period as there was a 45min wait at the bar and the bar staff were very stressed trying to handle the work load other than that the place is perfect

The service is outstanding very friendly and polite. Our server was quite sharp and even though it was very busy didn't skip a beat. Lovely location, kid friendly and delicious food.

It was a Friday and my friend and I decided to go for a drive to Shoalhaven Heads. We were looking at the cute holiday houses and then stopped at the Heads Hotel for lunch. We sat overlooking the mighty Shoalhaven River and enjoyed a convivial meal. The Chicken Parmigiana was amazing and the ambiance of the hotel was good.

Excellent spot right on the river. Haven't stayed but apparently they have live music and the rooms are close to it, so not sure about the noise factor. Food was good. Definitely try the salmon. The schnitzel was good. Ask for chips extra crispy. Service was excellent and very friendly. Was not too busy, but that is a Tuesday lunch. The location is perfection...almost? Go and enjoy ?

We were a large group of 22 people calling in for lunch on a Sunday. Pub was not overly busy and we all enjoyed the food and the view. Bar staff could be a little distracted at times but got the job done. Bistro staff were busy being lunch time but seemed to be coping with the task. An enjoyable afternoon, the only negative was the live music was a bit too loud. OK if we were there just to listen but we preferred to carry on a conversation which was difficult.

Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It wasn't that busy, maybe 30 people. We ordered breakfast and coffee. Waited about 15 minutes for two coffees and then were told they had run out of food and were refunding everyone's money. ??'?

Had the best breaky this morning at the Heads pub! Absolutely delicious, huge serving, well presented and fast service. Definitely will be making this a regular feed on Sunday morning as it's open from 7 till 11 am. Being a local it's awesome to see the new menu and fantastic service back again.. Well done Heads Crew! ??'?

First time diner - we ordered two vermicelli salads and both were pretty ordinary. 90% noodle with a few cherry tomatoes and some sliced cucumber and onion. Both dishes covered in snow pea tendrils and absolutely no other herbs. We asked the staff for some chili sauce and herbs as the menu stated there was herbs and a spicy dressing - neither was evident on our salads.
The provided herb was a total joke, except they weren't joking. See the attached photo.
The location is awesome and I'm sure what they rely on for their visitors. Next time it will be takeaway or a picnic on the grass overlooking the river.

Had stayed away over Christmas due to number of visitors, but returning tonight for dinner was so pleasant.
Service was prompt at the bar, meal came out soon after and was delicious. One of the best chicken parmigiana's I have had here. Great view and atmosphere.

Good food and friendly staff. Apparently new chef started about a month or so ago and has redone the menu. Lots of pub classics.

Returned with my wife after visiting the week before with mates during a ride. It wasn't the best of pub experiences I have to say. Ordered drinks, one was a lemon, lime and bitters. It came out red in colour and tasted unusual. I took it back and the gent behind the bar advised it was a syrup mixture.. absolutely disgusting and offered no alternative. Off to the bistro for some fush and chups. Was ok but no dressing on my salad, but dressing on the wife's salad...mmm. sat outside in the beautiful sunshine with other family's and dogs...dogs everywhere. Not a pleasant experience, and we're dog lovers.

This is probably the best pub in the area.. We visit there at least once a week for a quiet drink and for those nights that I dont feel like cooking, the meals are great!

Went for lunch on a Wednesday. We walked up to the bistro counter where the sign said "please order from the bistro here" and stood awkwardly until the chef came out and told us to go order at the bar in a tone as if we were to know this. Food was average for the high price you pay compared to other pubs. The venue itself is lovely and spacious with a great outdoor dining area and awesome river views. Just a shame the food and service let it down.

Thank you so much for a weekend we will never forget. A weekend in one of the hotels accommodation houses. Wow the views were spectacular, river, ocean and mountains. We could even see Saddle Back Mt. The sunrises and sunsets were stunning. The house provided everything we needed and was so clean. Our mattress was the best I've ever slept on. I've already Googled where we can buy one. The Hotel only a stones throw away provided great food and drinks. The kids were so happy playing in the playground while we relaxed listening to some very talented live music. We were very lucky with the weather sitting out in the sun. Thank you so much. Our family will remember this weekend forever.

Great meal , great view, great service

Absolutely disgusting service, a rude argumentative manager who messed up our order and tried to blame us, and while we were waiting for our replacement meal to be cooked (don't worry, they didn't rush), the manager was in the kitchen without a mask on. He absolutely ruined my partner's birthday, she was in tears, and by the time her food arrived we put it in a box and left. We used to love coming here but will never return because of Lee: the sniveling manager

We decided to stop at the pub and have lunch on Sunday. Walked in to a great singer William Wallace but when we ordered the young girl who took our order was rude and did not have any sort of personality. Doesn't cost anything to smile 😁

Terrible food for the second visit in a row. Unsure if there is a chef or cook in the kitchen however, either should be able to cook much better pub food than we encountered both visits. Rubbish chicken wings, horrid chicken schnitzel, inedible mushroom gravy and one of the worst pasta specials that I have ever eaten. Great pub food should be easy to nail, sadly this place even wrecks a simple side salad with old wilted spinach. Redeeming factors, staff are all wonderful and the location is the best!

Anzac day - young local group attended dawn service then celebrating at the hotel , with wrist bands and a booked table left to pick up a friend ( the security guard watched there drinks and said it ok ) only to be refused entry back into hotel 10 minutes later with no explanation except a very rude lady saying to bad. After living in the heads for 22 years very disappointed to hear this behaviour.

Very friendly and helpful as we stood outside before entering a man came out to assist us and got our details entered in the system for Covid-19. Once this was completed we were given. A verbal tour and where things were and shown to our table
