I really cant give this hotel a good review. Room was good. From there it goes downhill sadly.
1. Wifi is really poor and this is 2024. And its sneaky. Do a speedtest and you get 50mbps. But try and use it and its bad. Websites timeout all the time. Probably their IT company while prioritising speed test traffic has no idea what they are doing.
2. In the morning more than once i had to use the stairs. The lifts are just overworked for the number of guests. Made me late for meetings waiting for the lift
3. Housekeeping more than once just pulled up the top cover making things look nice but underneath the bed wasnt made.
4. The restaurant only serves dinner twice a week. Food was ok but as a 4.5 star business hotel it really needs a fully operating restaurant
5. One night there was an event on. The 5th floor was reverberating with noise. Really? In a business hotel.
Eventually i complained as i had enough. I was there 12 days. Spent over 2500 dollars. The manager was understanding and apologetic and i ended up with a 50 dollar food credit.

You really need to fix up your hotel. Especially for business travellers its below par

Have stayed here a few times for work (not by choice) and it's not good if you want to sleep. Aircon is terrible. I got it checked while there last time and they said it's old and nothing they can do. Doors bang loudly all night and have alarms that go off if they aren't shut properly.
Positives are size of room and location is good.

Very clean and modern room with everything I needed except the complimentary tea and coffee that's in every other hotel. I'm sure they would've provided some if I asked, but I didn't bother.

The king bed was so big I could hardly see the other side. And the room was plenty big enough to fit it.

As you'd expect from a classy hotel, there was also good information in the room about the local area, if you were a tourist.

I didn't try the room service nor have breakfast, so I can't comment on that.

I got a corner room with a balcony as an upgrade, which was a great bonus. There wasn't much of a view from the balcony, but it was very spacious, with a table and chairs. It would've been a great way to get some air if my stay was longer.

Very convenient location in central Sydney. Near everything you could need.

I'd love to stay here again.

Had an amazing 2 stays here. Naomi at the front desk was incredibly helpful, and friendly, she really amplified the already great service. Loved the fish floor at reception, the heated pool and spa! The beds were so comfortable, windows blocked out any outside noise and black out curtains meant a good rest every night. Thank you products were great quality. Will definitely be back, location is excellent too.

Stayed here a couple of nights while on vacation with my family.
Money was well spent.
Arrived and rooms were absolutely impeccable. House keeping staff went above and beyond and attended to our requests.
Kids enjoyed their stay here and made use of the pool. Very convenient that there is a gym here as well. Food was amazing at the restaurant. Could not find any faults. Would definitely be staying here on our next trip to Sydney.

Quiet, comfortable room. Basic, but I really appreciated the comfortable couch! Good water pressure in the shower. Great location, very easy to walk to and from, great access to Chinatown, Darling Harbour, the station.

Buffet breakfast was delicious and fresh, loads of great choices.

Stayed Friday night. Great staff, rooms spacious and clean bed's ultra comfortable. Restaurant great couldn't be more helpful. Bar great atmosphere. Can't wait till I have an excuse to return. Highly recommended. Julie

I loved my time at this hotel! The people who work there were really nice and ready to help. The room was tidy and comfy. The hotel is in a great spot, close to fun stuff and good food. I'd tell my friends to stay here, and I can't wait to come back!

Stayed for 3 days, good rooms, no windows you can open or a balcony, AC was a bit loud, good beds, Nice breakfast in the morning(not free) with good coffee. There is pub down stairs but closes at 10 or a little early at times. The location is close to the central station so is very convenient. Staff was courteous. The TV seems outdated and didn't really have much to watch. Overall happy.

Had a great stay with the family. Good value. Nice modern hotel with nice rooms. Bed was amazing. Staff were all lovely and very quick service! Booking was very easy to the girl was very helpful. Breakfast was amazing and loved the pool! Our baby loved the fish tank in the reception also. Parking was also a good set up and location was great. I dare say I'll be back!

The customer service needs a little work. When you asked a question, the reception seemed to have difficulty with resolving your issue or would take a long time. An example is when I arrived, I let the receptionist know that I was checking in and she asked for my name, which I gave with no issues. The problem was she asked me three times for my name. It was awkward and a horrible way to start my experience. The rooms were clean , tidy and filled with some food that you could add to your room. The pool was nice to relax and swim in, but you need to make sure you take towels down with you because they do not have any in the pool area. The staff responsible for cleaning the rooms and restocking the towels were fantastic and very accomodation. Reception could learn some customer skills from them. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Stayed here over the weekend , location was good but overall I'm very disappointed with the service we have received, me and my partner had gone down to the restaurant at Rydges I ordered a margarita pizza and my partner ordered a burger , by the time my partner has finished his meal mine was still yet to arrive, we ended up going back to our room and requested they brang it up. After over 40 minutes of waiting for my pizza we received it being cold and so salty to the point I couldn't eat it , we only received 2 pillows for the both of us in our room and guests next to us were very loud. I will not be staying here again and do not recommend staying here. Very disappointed especially with paying over $100 for parking at this place.

I had an early arrival in Sydney. Since the check in time was 2pm and no vacant room was available in the morning, I left my luggage with them and was offered the changing room at the swimming pool to refresh myself after the overnight flight. The room was spacious and comfortable and the restaurant offered delicious food. The location of the hotel is convenient and just a few minutes walk from the Central Station. Nevertheless, the hotel can pay attention to the cleanliness of the furniture in the room and cleaning of the bathtub. To include a bath gel in the bathroom amenities would be a good idea!

Recently booked into this hotel. It has a great central location and I have stayed here several times. Unfortunately, on the last occasion there was very noisy building work being done to the spa area. It would have been nice to know this when checking in as I usually enjoy relaxing in the spa but couldn't due to the noise.

Stayed here while attending a Sydney based event. Was told I had an upgraded room however the towels were thread bare, bed was interesting and dust covered many surfaces.

A great location, but will skip next time.

Nice pool, and hot tub. Very quiet. Really helpful reception staff. Great location for exploring the city. A decent spread for the buffet breakfast, with a lot of variety. Spacious room and bathroom. Positive insensitives to be eco friendly. Very close to the light rail and main train line, can be a bit noisy tho, but didn't have an issue with that. Overall a very positive experience

Good price for value. It has everything you need for a Sydney trip: great location, room amenities and service, a restaurant in the building and pool with SPA is great perk after a ling day in the city. The hotel gets a bit dated with that typical smell but still I'd recommend.

Location 5/5 as it's fantastic given how close it is to public transport and food.

We got to check in an hour early which was lovely.

It was really nice for them to give us a welcome card and a bottle of wine. But a friend of ours who booked a room for himself at the same time (12 days) asked if he is entitled to one and provided accurate details of our experience (our names, room number), the staff pretty much gaslit him and said there's no such people staying in the hotel and they don't have such offer.

Hygiene - 2/5
We stayed here for 12 days for our vacation. Our room was only cleaned only a few times. We kept putting the sign up, and maybe they don't clean our room if we put up the sign after 10am? It was not cleaned the last 4 days before we left. The room size is alright but the ventilation in the shower was poor. Our towels were damp and started to smell. When we arrive there was a small brown stain on the bed and the extra pillows smelled bad. The aircond was temperamental and there were nights we struggled to sleep as it was so hot. Especially our last night when the weather was so hot, we were sweating in our sleep.

We had friends who were also staying there and their rooms was only cleaned ~5 times out of the 12 days stay. They did mention their rooms was cooler compared to ours.

Bed was quite soft which was not to our liking.
Our room had no view as it was facing the back and into another building.

The gym was disappointing with broken machines and the sauna was not really working.

The jacuzzi was relaxing and the WiFi is decent.

We did not have their buffet breakfast as it cost 27$ but there were much better cafes around.

Essentially I didn't think it was worth the money. I'm not sure if I would stay here again for a vacation, would depend on the price.

Stayed for 5 nights recently. Rooms were a bit outdated but enough for what we needed. The elevators can be quite frustrating depending on how busy other floors get- there were times we were waiting 3-4 minutes just for the elevator to come. My biggest frustration was the offering of the 'dusk to dawn' room service- I thought this was awesome, particularly as they offered one of my favourite foods. Unfortunately, the 3 times we tried to call we were told they were out of ingredients for practically the whole menu and were only doing margherita pizzas. I'd understand for a couple of nights, but being out of ingredients for the whole stay is very poor form for what the hotel charges for rooms.

Convenient located in Surry Hills just a couple of minutes walk from Central station and many great restaurants around the area.

The rooms themselves are a little old - the locks were nearly detached off the doors. The beds were horrible and bad for your back and neck as it sinks in really deep. The lift was broken (on the weekend where the occupancy is at its highest levels?). The plus' were that it has a brewery downstairs and a great breakfast with many options. They're also facilitated with a pool + a temperature regulated jacuzzi spa!

1. There is no proper shower door (be prepared to mop up a floor full of water after you're done)
2. The small rack in the shower to keep soap gets in your way and you might hit it with your elbow. Wrong placement
3. There's coffee but no creamer available (I can't seem to figure out why)
4. The hot water is not regulated so it's difficult to get the right temperature when showering (you either burn or freeze yourself)
5. Parking per day is $55 which I feel is ridiculously overpriced
6. The hotel stay price per night is also too pricey
7. There is no free breakfast for guests. A lousy meal costs $25 which doesn't make sense. The 7/11 nearby has much better quality foods and coffee.

Spacious,clean rooms, very good breakfast,. handy for transport. Staff helpful & friendly. A special thanks to Hans when our transport didn't turn up to take us to the airport. There were a whole group of different people. She was amazing.. phoning taxi companies, chasing them & liaising with the taxi drivers when they got there to quickly get people to the airport. A credit to the hotel.

Update: 3rd stay here and the experience is consistent. Staff are lovely, Sophie and the team are experienced, friendly, knowledgeable and patient. This is my preferred and recommended place to stay for business travel in the area.

Noise can be an issue being where the hotel is but staff are always friendly and happy to help. A clean, safe, nice place to stay - thanks and will return

The hotel deserves its fours stars. The staff is friendly and forthcoming, the rooms are spacious and very clean. It is also very commendable that the hotel offers a small mini-bar voucher if guests choose not to have their rooms serviced every day. Big kudos for that, a small incentive surely raises the amount of people taking the option, and it will greatly benefit the environment.

However there are a few issues why I think this hotel does not deserve a top rating amongst it's 4-star peers:

- The sauna is broken, and according to a fellow guest who has stayed there multiple times in the past, has been for a while. It doesn't get warmer than 50 degrees (a sauna should at least get 80 degrees).
- The gym is a bit underwhelming, as there are only few training devices. Again, one devices seemed in disrepair (the rowing machine's strength couldn't be adjusted, and it has some screws sticking out the seat).
- The hotel has a major road on one side, and windows are only single-glazed. I had a room that was close to the road and usually woke up quite early from the noise of the traffic. Form my point of view the sound insulation should be upgraded.

On a side-note, it always bothers me that high-end hotels don't seem to have toilet brushes in their bathrooms. I get that they don't want to bother the guests with cleaning. Just because it is there doesn't mean a guest has to use it, but it gives them the option. I don't want to be faced with the consequences of my recent toilet visit every time I visit the bathroom again. Especially if I can choose to forfeit my daily room servicing. And it would be a waste to get the whole room serviced just for that one stain.

Stayed here for a work conference and couldn't be happier. The staff were so friendly and the rooms a great size and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was delicious and had plenty of options.
The facilities for the conference were fantastic and the whole overall experience was effortless from a customer's point of view.

First time staying in a hotel in 7 years! I'm glad we picked this one. The rooms were spacious and clean, easy check-in, friendly staff and the room service breakfast we had was delicious. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because I found the price for parking was a little expensive ($48 per night). It would be nice if members received a discount on parking rates. Other than that, I'd definitely go back again.

Great stay! Very convenient with the Sydney Brewery next door that has happy hour from 4 - 6pm each day with $5 schooners and wine and they also have $10 cocktails between 7 - 9pm each day. They need to ditch the buffet breakfast in these Covid times though. Ordering fresh would be much better.

Booked 2 rooms with our friends, arrived for check in at 1:40pm. Got told only one room was ready so we needed to wait. It's now 4:20pm, and our room is still not ready when the hotel checkin policy is 2pm?!?? We have dinner plans at 5pm and our plans have now been delayed because we can't unpack shower and get dressed. Have called reception multiple times and I get told that they're checking up on our room. We are forced to sit with our friends in their room and invade their personal space because our room is still not ready over 2 hours later.

This is a bit of a regular watering hole for me and a few mates, but the water is actually made of beer. Not your usual beers on tap, although I have no idea what they are other than tasty.

The hotel is conveniently located in the CBD, next to Central train station. It has a pool & spa, sauna and a gym within the building. The rates are very reasonable. Despite some mishaps, this was made up by free complimentary buffet breakfast for a family of 5 for the rest of the stay. Will definately be back.

Unfortunately I didn't have the best experience at the Rydges in Surry Hills. I paid good money for a 2 night stay, and we found that the shampoo and conditioner bottles were not replaced from the previous occupants of the room. Our in-house movies didn't work initially, but credit to hotel reception, this was fixed a little later after some prompting and despite a maintenance person saying that he couldn't fix the problem. I also was not told that parking in the hotel carpark would be charged at a rate of $44 per day, so I was slapped with a $150 charge at the end of my stay for parking. Staff were lovely, but I can't say that I would stay here by choice again.

Nothing too fancy, good service and clean rooms just what you would expect from a reasonably priced hotel near central

Great position in the centre of Sidney. Swimming pool, restaurant and gym. Very good value for money.

We had a fantastic stay at the Rydges Sydney Central. The staff made us feel so welcome from the minute we walked in the door. The facilities were top notch and the bed was one of the comfiest beds I've slept on in a long time. The hotel is in a great location, so close to everything. Would highly recommend to anyone to stay here, thanks for a great weekend!

Just checked in today, hotel is in a great location.. staff was absolutely lovely especially the receptionist Armi who went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and had a great experience, thanks Armi for looking after us. We will definitely be back!
