Love coming here and punting on the nags, especially during the big race days. Great atmosphere when the big punting days are on and highly recommend the food too...

Inconsistent quality of the Royal Oak's menu, and icy service from young and precious bar staff left us unimpressed.
Avoid the steak sandwich - bland, and the meat had too much gristle and was tough. Much of it was inedible.
The Salmon Poke Bowl was pretty good, as was the Green Salad.

I ate at the restaurant and the nachos were really delicious. I was pretty tired on my visit and didn't drink but it seemed that the bar had plenty of options and a good amount of service with larger tables for groups.

Great spot for a drink and a dance on the weekend or to chill and watch the sport in their sports bar. Food is delicious, as are the drinks! Would recommend and we will be back!

Tahlia was the sweetest bartender. I came in for a vodka soda and recommended one of the yummiest cocktails instead! Was one of the best cocktails I've had in my life! She's a keeper for sure! Had the sweetest personality!

Good atmosphere a wide variety of people in there socialising. Upstairs Lounge/Rooftop bar - a great space if you want DJ loud music and a club style dance. Good crowd on when there is an Auz rugby match. Food was good

I've had a $26 Salmon Poke Bowl at the bistro and I have to say it was the worst Poke Bowl I've ever had in my life. The quantity was generous, but the food was totally tasteless. The whole dish had a slight taste of sesame dressing, but the amount of it was so small, the rice & other ingredients were almost dry. The raw salmon pieces were so large and chunky they made me gag. Besides, salmon is a fatty fish, it should never be served with avocado which is fatty too. Very unfortunate combination. Instead of serving a large quantity of tasteless food, they should concentrate on the taste. The chef should definitely try to sample the food when creating a dish. I could eat only a very small amount of rice and Eda beans and left the whole dish there. Lost $26. Besides, I had to ask the staff to clean the table while waiting for the food!

Hard working Chef and kitchen staff providing some delicious and plentiful food. I was only in the area for two nights but ate here both nights - and that speaks volumes.

the place is super nice! but the gastronomic part was not! We ordered 3 dishes including the one of the day! But we couldn't eat! Mine had so much pepper that I doubt anyone will be able to appreciate any flavor, the others are not pleasant either! I suggest reveren the kitchen ! And let it be constructive criticism!

This place was busy on arrival with locals and visitors, obviously a hub of couples, families and friends meeting to enjoy a few drinks and some good food. The staff were friendly and attentive with colouring for the kids, the food was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyable and relaxed meal.

Can I rate a place less than 1 star? Don't eat here. Invite your friends to the Royal Oak Hotel in Double Bay Only if you hate them. How would you like to receive 7 mussels ( and it is literally 7) as a 500 grams pot of mussels ? In the sauce as nice as the dirty dishwasher water? Never mind the service, we've been sitting at the table filled with dirty glasses and plates left by the previous guests for an HOUR! and NO ONE came to clean the mess. Eventually we put all the dirty dishes on the spare chair. Otherwise is ok?

My wife and I were on our way from Bellevue Hill to our home in Bowral and called in for a quick bite. Angel Hair pasta was delicious while the steak sandwich was the best I had eaten anywhere. Congratulations to your chefs, wonderful place!

Attended the Oak for drinks with my work colleagues at the upstairs bar, and was constantly provided with some of the best beers in regards to the perfect head by one of the bartenders named Elfie i think. Had such a fun night and was looked after by the staff and managers and even managed to get on the dance floor!

My friend and I ate at the Royal Oak Double Bay for lunch on the 24th, I had the Nachos with meat and my friend had the nachos with beans. 6 hours later we were both nauseous and had the worst headaches. I had the worst case of food poisoning and my friend was very sick too. I was unwell for about 2 days after, unable to really eat, constant throwing up and going bathroom, and super dehydrated. I understand things can be over looked, and I was never angry. I am although concerned with inability to get in contact with them, I called on the Sunday, and I also messaged their instagram, to let them know about what had happened and for them to check the quality of their dairy. I followed up a couple of days later with a comment on a picture pointing them in the direction of their DMs. I still have no heard back, and had no call back, and my stomach is still churning and I have to watch what I eat.

What an amazing Pub with great atmosphere! We came as a last minute group walk in and the manager Chris was so accomodating to all our needs! Our go to pub when we are in the area! Thank you

discovered the upstairs bar - what a great find! a great atmosphere for drinks with friends. ordered some lovely food (bar snacks, entree mains & desserts fantastic! had the vegetarian/vegan poke bowl) plus amazing cocktails. they also serve some tasty margaritas!!

Good takeaway food at really good prices!
Preordered over the phone and the food was ready right on time.

A nice Ferry ride from Circular Quay to meet with family for dinner in Double Bay at the Oak. Great service, good food, and a gentle stroll back to the Ferry to return home.
Highly recommended way to spend an evening!

This was a nice pub that was tucked away inside Double Bay proper.
It wasn't that noisy (compared to the golden sheath). Dining area had a bit more noise due to less carpet and more people.
We sat in the sports bar area and had a great time catching up over a few beers and a nice dinner. Worth coming here if this is your neighbourhood.

Fantastic place for a family lunch during the school holidays. Staff were so friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Menu has lots of options, both healthy & not-so-healthy, and the wines by the glasses menu had lots of options. Decor is classic, upmarket pub-style and in immaculate condition. Rarely give 5 star ratings but couldn't fault this place.

Ok atmosphere but the food and beer is beyond expensive! I know it's Double Bay but you're still only a pub that serves standard beer and standard food, you don't warrant charging this much! Either get some decent drinks on the menu or improve the food and service before charging so much.

Great food, not too pricey and relaxed atmosphere. Great place for families with kids with a great kids menu and ice cream- something a lot of pubs have ditched since covid. The outdoor space is great and easy to sit streetside if you are worried about noisy kids or just love seeing the local dogs out for a stroll.

Only good for beer. Food is badly prepared and overpriced. Service is done by young drones - disconnected humans. Prices for putrid food are astronomical.

Great venue to dine. Food is fantastic. Well balanced menu. All day breakfast is to kill for. Recommend their 300 gms rump steak served with chips and salads. Very friendly staff in all areas. No problems with parking. Council carpack is at the rear of the hotel. Have been dining twice a week for the past 14 months.

The royal Oak has amazing staff and a fantastic bistro. During the restrictive times we have right now they were safe and attentive. I cannot wait to come back when we are all allowed to rock again.
