I had a parma and my wife a t-bone steak tonight. My parma was over cooked and tough to eat. The chips were soggy and under cooked.
My wife told me the T- bone from aldi i buy for $8 is better than the $40 steak here. I got a espresso martini and a pint of Guinness $35. I know prices are up but this is absurd. Even in Melbourne in upmarket pubs i would not pay this much. Sorry but first and definitely the last visit.

Good place for a lunch dinner or drink.
Friendly staff. Big serves of food..be prepared.

My chicken was medium well (its a good thing)

I booked a single room not knowing it had shared facilities and was upstairs in the pub (incomplete info on some sites). I wasn't prepared with robe, slides, etc. but took it anyway, because saving money. The room looked onto the main street with big balcony windows and no blinds/curtains - too much light plus anyone on the balcony could look in at me. Shared bathroom was only one toilet and one shower/bath and both looked dirty at only 6pm. I went back down and paid more money to stay in one of their "motel" rooms (what I thought I was booking in the first place). The price of the motel room was barely on par with the quality. Won't do it again.

I am required to travel to Tumut regularly, the bistro meals ( steaks) are first class, probably one of the best steaks in recent memory
The staff are friendly and give a good atmosphere

Meal was very average, oily and bland.
Bar staff are useless. Took my drink back three times as their post mix was out, and was just soda. They just didn't understand at all. Seems as though they all need training as I've never heard of bar staff not knowing how to change post mix.
Very poor. Bar sevice/ experience let the bistro down.
Won't be back.

We placed our order at the bar and paid About 10 mins later. Someone came to our table to tell us the entrees we ordered sold out and we had to order something else, but no refunds.
So we ordered the tacos, and meals came out first, the salad was awful, the tacos came out last,not at all what we were expecting. Not very taco like. Chunks of meat and some salad thrown on top.
We did not eat them.
Such a waste of food and money.

Ordered dinner tonight , the warm Thai salad was amazing the staff were friendly and helpful biggest let down was we ordered a steak medium rare but it was cooked well done making it nearly inedible for us , could have dealt with medium but well done just ruins a good steak .

Stayed here overnight when travelling to pick up my new pup . Room was Spotless and recently renovated . Comfy bed . And the manager was Friendly honest over_all just a really decent country person . Would stay again if ever in Tumut . So far as to say if I was doing a road trip . Would stay there just because it was very clean ,comfy . And value for the price which was very very reasonable ???"

Descent pub with a modern look and a good menu. Not a big fan of MSG but reckon there was a bit in my meal, super thirsty all night. Kids activity packs listed as an inclusion to the menu were out of stock as well so kids were a little disappointed. Overall a good country pub.

Great pub feed here. Generous serves, great quality and reasonably priced. Highly recommend. Can't comment on rooms as I stayed elsewhere.

The steak sandwich was the absolute best I've ever had! Yum! The silver haired lady in the kitchen is a machine.. she's serving delicious food and helping to take it out and still so incredibly friendly. What an angel!

1hr wait for a steak. I was first to order on my table and last to receive food.
Cold chips and over done steak. Bar staff were very friendly. It's a pity the kitchen wasn't to the same standard.

Been working in tumut for months and this is by far the best feed in town. They have nailed my steak perfectly 5 times in a row. Definitely worth having a beer and a feed

Fantastic! Local Rump steak and two sides, the biggest piece of steak I have had in a long time, cooked to perfection, fantastic chips and an amazing side salad. Really reasonable price. Kids selection huge meals as well. Don't walk passed walk in!

We had a lovely lunch ! My husband had the chicken schnitzel and veg and I had the carbonara ..! Absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend! Will definitely be back !

Needs more bar women and lower lighting. Definitely a happening place to be but I think too bright and had lost the traditional pub feel. Attention to detail on the drinks is 5 star though and Guinness is off the hook

Extremely busy for a Wednesday night. Waited an hour for my meal which was advised to me when I ordered which I thought was good service. Carlton draught was nice and cold and tasted great. Will come back next time in Tumut.

Went for dinner for birthday and as usual great meal,as usual stuggled to clean my plate ad the meals are more than ample, if your hungry The Royal is the go.

Wow the food here is amazing. Husband had steak (cooked to perfection) and I had Warm Beef Thai Salad, perfect and plenty of beef in the meal.

Cold beer ? good pokies, great service and Amazing food ? what more could you ask for.

They have a reduced menu at the moment. I had lamb cutlets with gravy. All I can say is that the meal was magnificent THANKYOU.

We decided to eat here as unlike the other pubs they announced their chef. The menu lacked intrigue and the decor left a bit to be desired (unless you like wobbly tables) but the food was excellent. Everything else paled once you tried the food. I had the roast pork, it was cooked perfectly, and was accompanied by 7 different vegetables (peas, green beans, pumpkin, zucchini, carrot, corn, roast potato) and absolutely spot on. Presentation was good.
My wife's chicken was just as good and accompanied in a similar way.
If I had a pub that did food like this as my local, I'd eat there few times a week at least. This may have been the best pub meal I've every had.

You can ALWAYS count on first class customer service when dining in a country pub and the Royal Hotel in Tumut-NSW certainly proves that to be true!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Scotch fillet and country style vegetables that I ordered. The portions were really good too and the kids menu was great.

Booked a 21st about 3 or 4 weeks in advance, they double booked the venue but didn't tell us I would have changed date if I knew, went to order dinner at 6 got told they are too full we have to wait an hour to order then some other people in the group went up and got to order , first 18 people got told they couldn't order chips then the next group members got to order chips, 2 hr wait on food and the last people to order got served first, took an hr for an entree of garlic bread to come out, when met with constructive criticism coming from hospitality workers particular bar staff I could name were rude and ARGUED with customers, nothing on kitchen staff as they did there job as they were told to and cooked great food. Lucky the young children where patient not family friendly, the experience would have been a lot different and we would have been more patient if it wasn't for the rude bar staff...maybe next time give warning to customers that there is another big event on we would have cancelled !

Great country pub, friendly staff and excellent food of enormous proportions.
The Cumulus wines Rolling cab merlot was excellent.
I had a brontosaurus rump steak cooked to perfection with mushroom sauce and my wife had prawn pasta dish that was also of mammoth proportions and delicious, but...
There was WAY, WAY too much garlic. My wife will be immune from vampires for at least a decade and mosquitoes will also think twice@

We really enjoyed our dinner at the hotel, the dishes were delicious! I will warn you though, the meals are HUGE , and I mean HUGE. We bought the seniors meals, and there was plenty on our plates. Will definitely eat there again ?

Great place for lunch - we had the three cheese nachos, calamari and cheesy garlic bread. They were all delicious. The kids also enjoyed their nuggets and carbonara pasta. Good service at the bar and we enjoyed trying some of the local Tumut River Brewing Co beers.

Second time we've been to Tumut and wouldn't go anywhere else.
The Lamb shanks are perfect. Complements to the chef. Great old pub??'??

When you think of pub food you don't expect a gormet meal! The steaks were to die for and a compliment to the young chef was a must. Absolute value for money on the size of the portions (huge!) and more importantly the flavour was wonderful! A casual dining experience for all age groups.

The people that work there are great easy going and always there to help when needed. Great place for eating lunch and dinner with other outside areas that are covered if it rains.

The place is clean, the staff are friendly, and the food is delicious and good value for money.

Cold beer, great food. I recommend visiting this pub when in tumut
