My review is about the Royal Hotel bistro. I couldn't find a separate site for it. Anyway, this restaurant is very nice with a nicely varied menu. Options include several gluten free items. We've eaten here at lunch and dinner and both times were excellent. There is a lunch menu. The bistro is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. There is also a nice wine selection.

If you want a screaming bloody headache, come to the front bar here. Nice staff, nice building good location. Just don't expect to have a beer in the bar on a Friday or Saturday without getting a headache from all the screaming and yelling in the sports bar. RSA?

Had the Sunday roast, which was beef. It was overcooked, cut into big slabs, a bit tough, and did not look very appetising on the plate.
To be avoided, unless one likes over cooked beef.

Nice place, very relaxed except the ridiculously loud mega blender at the bar for frozen cocktails which ruins any conversation within 15 metres. Put it out the back please

Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. We stayed here while our son was sick in hospital. The staff were so lovely to deal with, caring and understanding and supportive. The room was clean, tidy and had a cosy feel about it. The bed was the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. The food from the pub was amazing. Perfect location too.

Stayed here for a work trip. The room was clean, easy access to everything I needed, and the staff were very respectful and kind. I will definitely be back in the future. Highly recommend to anyone holidaying or travelling for business.

Fantastic Hotel. Close to local shops. Very close to public transport to the city and beyond (tram/bus). Approx 15 minute walk to Coogee Beach.

Was there for a function in one of the function rooms ( not sure whether they have more than one). The function room was rather dingy. Low ceiling and I was a bit claustrophobic. Not suitable for any more than 20 people max. The staff were friendly.
The main bar area looked rather spacious and roomy. They do have private parking at the rear of the building. The spaces are few and gets filled up quickly. Street parking is not easy either.

Beautiful family room with a great sized bathroom. Very clean and check -in super easy with friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had dinner in the bistro and it was a lovely meal and well priced. Free Parking at the back was a bonus. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Thank you for a great stay.

Great pub. Such a shame on food. We paid $18 buffalo wings that was average. And $25 for this abomination of a pizza. They put topping on a tortilla and called it a pizza and charged $25. Chicken parmy looked decent. So get away from the wings and pizza

We stayed in a queen room and travelled by tram into the city, with the tram stop being a one minute walk from the hotel. Free parking behind the hotel was available for guests, which is why we chose to stay in Randwick rather than in the city and pay for overnight parking.

Very nicely renovated, everything feels quality and in keeping with the heritage building. Impressed by the lovely silent door to separate the stairs and the rooms. We heard little noise from other guests but it was mid December so not busy. Absolutely no street noise.

Bed was comfortable but on the firm side, could use a mattress topper. This is the first hotel I've stayed in where the shower doesn't flood or otherwise spray water all over the bathroom, so that was a plus. Overall the room felt very clean and fresh.

There's no instructions in the room, but eventually we realised we needed to insert a key card to access the aircon functions. With the small rooms I found it best to set the air to Dehumidify, which cooled the room down well after using the shower.

Great restaurant and bar, with all the staff being very friendly and welcoming. I really cannot fault our stay, and will book again next time we're in Sydney.

what a grim job they have done on the pub part of this glorious old hotel. ripped out all the character. totally antiseptic interior. easy to clean maybe. not one interesting feature. Sydney hotel design at its clueless worst. I'd passed many times and wondered what this beautiful building offered on the inside. should have kept driving.

On a day trip from Cronulla to see a movie at the Ritz. The hotel was our choice for lunch. Couldn't fault anything. Decor, food and drink the best. Service was great. My husband and I thought the hotel a great place to stay instead of the city. Close to the beach and services into the city.

Late lunch after visiting patient at the POW hospital. Great location at end of line of light rail. Thai curry was good pub fare and good wine choices. Friendly polite staff too.

I'm reviewing the Royal Hotel purely as a Bar and Pub restaurant. We enjoyed a family afternoon here taking advantage of their Monday deals. I had the chicken schnitzel which was excellent both in taste, portion size and value. Even the children's meal that arrived would have been enough for me ?
Oh, and the decor was lovely and spotlessly clean. Will definitely be back ??'?

Great vibe, good service, cold beers.
Grabbed dinner tonight and everything was over cooked. Calamari was chewy and lime dry, steak well done not medium rare etc. Great pity.
PS I feel sorry for this really nice customer who was exhausted and just wanted a toasted sandwich but the kitchen refused.

Went for dinner with family there, it was real busy seemed to take far too long. When our meals did come out they were enjoyable. Worth waiting. We will be back for food.

Great spot to stay. Close to Prince Of Wales Hospital, cafes, restaurants and tram stop to the city or race course. Staff were very helpful and polite. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean. Food at the hotel was great. Would recommend.

Best steaks in Sydney by far. Chargrilled beefy goodness, cooked to perfection every time. Kudos to the catering team, love your work. You're the reason why we keep coming back. Thank you!

I've read some bad and some mediocre reviews about the pub but I can fault it.
The decor is awesome, its a fun play on opulence. The bars are really good, lots of seating and various spaces from intimate to social and alfresco. Nice well appointed toilets.
Lots of great beers and other beverage and friendly staff.
Yes a little slow and a bit disorganised on my visits but hey.
Elle and I quaffed a couple of beers and had gorgeous crab spring rolls which came with a brilliant fresh, zesty well dressed salad .
We shared a hot seafood platter, again it was faltless and with a very substantial salad.
Had a nice bottle of chardonnay and sat about chatting and relaxing.
Vibe and harmony was really nice and people were having a good time.

Food was sensational! Everything was very fresh, stakes and fish were cooked to perfection, almond crusted salad was to die for! My partner has the prawn pizza which he highly recomends. Presentation was spot on. We will be back! Thanks.

Have been living at the spot for 4yrs now and the Royal has been our local. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. We loved the menu until recently. Unsure if the kitchen staff has changed but the food has definitely taken a dive. Please bring back the love! We still visit but will not be dining. ???"

Good spot, looks well inside, nice selection of drinks. Was In for the weekly special of lasagne (very poor) must have hit 30seconds on the microwave instead of 5.30 it was stone cold, shows poor workmanship when no one checks the food before it goes out, the garlic bread was just sourdough bread with a garlic butter spread on it, they must have ran out of that as well as only half was covered. It's not hard to check your food before you serve it out.

Great place to hang out during a stay in Randwick. Went to the bistro, had a few drinks, came back later for dinner and really enjoyed the mushroom and Guinness Pie. Warm Thai Beef Salad not so great, can only taste the dressing! Friendly service, well kept. Wouldn't recommend for a cheap night out, food and drinks are a little on the steep end.

Excellent venue and am a regular however I feel they should invest in outdoor heaters to encourage patrons to sit outside when its at capacity inside.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it's being updated inside and has not let me down. The outdoor area is dog friendly and the food is always great (Ive had the chicken salad, steak and pork most recently) Just wished the pork was a slightly bigger serve or the rice came with it. It was tasty.

Came with our staff for a before Christmas drinks and food, happy to say that the staff were amazing with their service and were very accommodating and gave us their function room which worked well as we got louder and louder through the night haha we truly enjoyed it and the food.Thank you, from the wonderland bar crew

The Royal Bistro's service is great and the food is delicious. In fact, they've got the best Salt & Pepper Squid ever!

Great experience at the Royal in Randwick in terms of good food and great service, especially from Caitlin as she always has a smile while taking care of us at the bar.

Stopped by on the way home from the beach, hadn't been here before. We had the best steak sandwich I've ever had. A little pricey ($22) but worth every cent. Highly recommend, and the place was friendly and very clean.

Visited here last weekend for a trip down memory lane as I used to live next door back in the early 70's. It has been opened up, extended and modernized. There's a good menu with something for everyone and a nice wine selection.Worth the drive that we had.
