Bowral was busy and we found this place that had available seating in the bistro. I ordered the ploughman's platter. It took a while to come out which seemed unusual as there would not have been much cooking involved. The staff did let me know of the delay and when it arrive it was nicely presented. Something didn't look right with it and it was only after I ate the prosciutto the penny dropped that this Italian item was the odd one out of an English dish and when I checked the menu more closely I realised the staff have substituted the Pork Pie with prosciutto. Why they didn't bother asking me before going ahead and playing it is a mystery but makes me wonder what else they are hiding from customers.

Not family friendly - staff had little interest in accommodating children. Told we needed to "book high chairs" - found other families eating with children without them, while what appeared to be the single high chair they owned sat in the corner unused. Food was excellent but the experience from staff was poor.

Wonderful food. The best waitess I ever had. What fantastic service. 1 would recommend her for the employee of the year. Nothing was a problem for her. And a beautiful smile. ? l loved the curry. Monday night special

Had such a delicious meal here on Saturday night, exceeded our expectations . Plus the wait staff were really friendly and attentive, despite it being a very busy evening.

Great country pub with really good food. We were a group of 24, the staff were lovely, really friendly and helpful, food was great. A good wine list. It has an open fireplace inside, plenty of seating and a great atmosphere. highly recommend it.

Great service in a well appointed Hotel. How could you go wrong with the Tuesday special of chicken schnitzel chips , salad and gravy for $16

I can never say no to a pub meal and this place was great on our day trip to Bowral! The food portions were great as well as the taste, though price was on the higher end of pub food ? I had the Chilli Prawn Linguine and it was delicious! One of my friends got the Lamb Shank and that too looked great. No photos of food because well we were hungry after the long drive to Bowral ??'?

The indoor space at the back had a wood fire place and it was very warm and cosy ??"?

Great food with extremely friendly staff, we were visiting for event nearby and was looking for a hearty meal in town. I was very impressed and is definitely a place I'll come back to again

Outstanding experience at The Royal tonight. We were very impressed with the kids meals. Their options, quality and value for money were excellent. Our kids ate every bite. In fact, All of the food we received was amazing. In particular, the duck spring rolls, linguini and the mushroom ravioli. So much flavor and good portions. All exceptional. Special mentions to our waitress Natasha. She gave exceptional service and waited on the whole busy room on her own, effortlessly. We look forward to coming back soon. The place was packed as it was a long weekend. The food was good, but the staff were better! Wow, those ladies were exceptional, literally running to deliver orders. And going over and beyond with great customer service skills. Thanks for a wonderful day.

Unfortunately this hotel didn't hit any heights. The food was below par, almost inedible. Their beer was flat & warm at best & there was a racist element with the security that I've never been exposed to in my 50 odd years. There was staff there who are a great asset to this establishment but unfortunately I will never set foot in this place again. It's 2022 & this place needs to get with the times

Had dinner there. Not impressed. Salt and pepper squid seemed to have neither salt nor pepper, not an interesting seasoning experience. They stuffed up the order of our companion and then the staff were like "eh". I don't really get how you can change $56 for two mains for average food and service!

Great food and excellent value. Staff were all super helpful and friendly. Lovely venue too....we will be back next time we visit Bowral.

Good food, good service - unexpected find (as a lot of other places were booked out), but this turned out to be a lot better than some of the places we had been to previously. Very enjoyable!

We have always enjoyed the restaurant meals at the Royal Hotel Bowral. Our latest experience was no exception. Service was efficient and prompt yet cheerful. The atmosphere was upmarket casual. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the "specials board" fish while I had the grain fed rump which came with chips and sides at no extra cost. Salted caramel cheesecake rounded out a lovely Sunday afternoon lunch. We'll be back.

We celebrate my daughter 15th bday here and the lady in the food service area was so nice and very attentive to us, she look after us and make sure that everything is complete. I don't get her name but it was last night 30/8/22

I will definitely recommend Royal Hotel for special occasions.
In general we are satisfied in the service.

The restaurant was wonderfully welcoming on a busy Saturday night. Our steaks were excellent as was the wine recommendation. The service was top notch. Looking forward to making the Royal Hotel "our local".

This is a must visit place. It exudes ambience as soon as you walk through the door in the cooler months. You are always greeted from behind the bar as you enter - on the left hand side is this wonderful fireplace crackling away & then when you walk on through to the bistro area there is another fireplace. The service at the bistro is A1 the food is delicious- large in size at a great cost. We love travelling down from Sydney to Bowral & always stop here to have a eat.

Very well cooked and presented food as decent prices. Kids meals excellent value.
Outdoor beer garden very inviting, packs out quickly on a nice weekend. Centrally located venue. Was hard to fault, especially for the price of lunch and drinks for the family.

As you would expect for your average local pub. Nice that it has the outdoor area with lights, however could really go some music out there, it really lacked a bit of atmosphere.

When we went they had a Dos Hombres Mexican menu... 10/10 would recommend! Honestly they get a star or two because our meals were so tasty.

Unfortunately restaurant was closed due to covid restrictions however lovely meal out in main bar area. Nice fire in this area.

Great Sunday lunch - the Humpty Doo Barra was some of the best fish we have ever had.
Really friendly bar staff - restaurant was full, so we ate in the front bar which was great. Wood fire, great atmosphere - highly recommended

Traditional pub with beer garden out back. The food has always been pretty good and well priced. Good mix of people and live music was always a pull pre COVID. Hopefully that will be back soon.

The pub itself is quite nice to have a drink at, pleasant interior and a nice little courtyard out the back.
Unfortunately the food was average at best but very expensive.
We recently came here for lunch which cost us over $100 for 2 adults and 2 little kids.
An average steak with chips for $40 with not much to it, small flavourless salad for $30 and kids meals small and burnt.
Noticed some other meals were also going back to the kitchen so they might be having some problems there.
So many other options for lunch in Bowral, definitely giving this one a miss in the future.

Amazing entrees, Pork belly bites, salt and pepper squid and Prawns with peanut chutney.Mains were Veal Rib Eye, butter and steamed veggies. So good.Desert coconut and chocolate cake, an amazing Bounty, just an improvement on the bar.This food was way better than the overpriced Berrida Hotel restaurant and the menu with the specials, also way better.Eat here and enjoy great food and warm service.Phoebe our waitress was great.

Tops for lunch as pubs go

My partner and I came to Bowral on Sunday 07.06.2020, it was a busy day as every man and his dog had decided to make the trip to Bowral. We had tried to find a place to go for lunch, we tried 5 places which were all booked out, we finally stumbled along The Royal Hotel. The ladies that helped us were so accommodating, we didn't have a booking but they arranged to provide us a table within 15 minutes. While waiting we had some wine next to a wood fire which was lovely! We were seated in the dining room which is gorgeous, there is another wood fire in the centre of the room. My partner ordered the beef burger which he said was really good and I ordered the pork special which was a roast pork and vegetables dinner. It was so delicious! Overall we really loved the feel of the place and the food hit the spot! Would definitely recommend and we will be back again for sure!. Thank you!
