Wouldn't go back for another parma.
The breast seemed pre frozen type, was dried out and compressed.
All the options on top were great, but poor chicken. Over priced for what it was.

We called to book a table and were told sure come in. We arrived and there were no free tables, were plonked in the front bar with our kids on a rickety table. We ordered and waited over an hour for schnitzels and a baked potato. We asked for no bacon on the potato as my daughter is vegetarian and after over an hour it came out with ham on it! We then had to wait another 20 minutes for them to provide another one that was so charcoaled/overcooked it tasted like pure charcoal and was inedible. The schnitzels had no parmy sauce, were tiny and dry. Could not have had provided a worse meal if they tried. On a positive note the guy who served us (owner?) who had the glasses and man bun was lovely and really apologetic about our wait, he was the only good thing about our experience! Do not recommend.

Really lovely lunch. Fresh crumbed veal with thick chunky mushroom sauce. Super tasty sautéed potatoes and greens. Very enjoyable. Lovely staff and atmosphere

Bar staff were rude, just looked at you when standing at the bar wanting to order drinks. The chef came out and was lovely. Maybe the bar staff need some lessons off the chef on customer service. The risotto was lovely but will not be going back!

We went specifically for the Sunday roast and were not disappointed. Well cooked veg, plenty of tender lamb with mint sauce.
$25 each, would have had apple pie and custard if it had been on the menu!

Been here 3 times now. Keep giving it a go because the food is pretty good. The staff are just so rude and unhappy. They go out of their way to make life difficult. The Northo is so much friendlier. Definitely will never be coming back to the Royal.

The Royal today was great. Food good, drinks easy to get and great company. A couple of tech glitches but the staff handled them very well. There was also a bus group in but that caused no problems, no log jams just dealt with quickly and quietly. Best of all the atmosphere was very quiet unlike other occasions when I have been there.

It was pretty good but the bolongase had some very big chunks of meat. They gave out free frogs in a pong which was good except they had orange jelly for the most part🤢. The staff were nice and the experience was overall pretty good.

Awesome kids indoor playground, great choice of kids meals at a reasonable price, the kids were also given an activity pack and dessert ??'? The rest of the menu was very good and the food was nice. All the staff were nice and friendly, it was a quiet lunch service, we didn't have to wait too long so that was great. I would definitely return if we go through town again.
No website or menu to view online was frustrating though...

Parking. We arrived after dark and not familiar with the pub, so parked on street and entered via the front door which had a small step so wheelchair users might find tricky. But, as I said, this was the front entry...

Atmosphere was nice and pleasent, a couple of fires for additional warmth in the lounge.

Great food, great service, some music would be good. New to area but we pretty much ate and left as that was all there was... lovely big pub and great location.

The food was tasty but the tables were sticky as were the menus and the lady that we saw wiping the tables was just using the same dry/dirty chux with no spray to wipe everything over.
Not much atmosphere and when I asked if it was possible to get a kid's carbonara I was told no I would have to purchase a small. This ended up only being $1 or so less than the full serve but only came out the same size as a kid's portion!

Magnificent space. A grove of mature California redwood trees.
Access is a little difficult if you have mobility issues. Parking is limited.

Would not rave about the service or the food. My husband ordered a porterhouse and received a small, tough, overcooked rump, very bland and at restaurant prices it was very disappointing, he didn't complain because the staff were not friendly. Needless to say, we won't be back.

The Royal is great to have a drink at, with outstanding employees and management, shout-out to Max for his great service. The drink choices are there, however they do not offer double -or even single- shots, and their selection is of decent size.
However, it is to note that Benalla has had issues with people due to the spirits(specifically shots), so they had to remove them, and as such, I will not hold it against the place.
At the Royal, you will meet some nice and rowdy people!

Great pub for an easy feed and beer. The Chicken Parmigiana was great, and the atmosphere was good. Friendly staff and easy service. Also an awesome play area for the kids to enjoy.

We had a meal here, it was good value, quick service in a large dinning room without been noisy.

Asked for a modified meal (a bowl of mash potato) due to medical reasons with difficulty swallowing that was explained.
And the staff at the bar asked me to wait while they checked with the Kitchen, the bar staff member came back with in seconds saying they flat out said NO even though mash was on parts of the menu. What a disappointment for locals to be declined for such a simple request unfortunately we will never go back again.

Stopped in for dinner, good pub food and the kids love the playground. Great atmosphere.

Got the Bolognese Parma, it wasn't Bolognese sauce it was more like gravy with mince, tasted awful

Went to the Royal Hotel for a place to hang out and have a beer while a friend got off from work. We had a few drinks and stayed for the pub meal. Awesome choice! The chicken parmesan was amazing and the side of chips hit the spot. Good sized meal and the staff were friendly all night. Will pop back in again on our way through next time too.

Had a bunch of good nights here and the food is apsolutly amazing

Wow! Buffet Bar for dinner Saturday night. Special Wild Barramundi Fillets with chips and salad was 1st Class. Top friendly service from bar staff Draught beer fresh. They handle the Covid requirements well. Highly Recommended.

Three of us had a counter meal. My meal was small and overpriced, Rump steak was small and tough and was left by my friend. Fish n chips were ok.

Only stopped in and had a beer just a standard pub from that point of view but the lady behind the jump was really nice and warm to my wife and I

Great food and friendly staff!We stopped by on our way from Melbourne and had a delicious meal, I had the rump steak which was extremely succulent and my wife had the grilled hoki fillets which broke apart so delicately. The staff were really friendly and the food came out in no time. Highly recommended it if you are a local or passing by!
