The upstairs restaurant is a bit expensive for what you get on your plate, meals have got smaller and at time's seems no care is given plating up your meal. Downstairs the pizzas are amazing, value for money and quick service. ??'?

12 for lunch, all had the lunch specials, most went for rissoles & veg & gravy, a few chicken pies, a few burgers. All tasted great, were hot & value for money. Cold beer, easy seating & bike parking.

Historic hotel in the middle of Branxton , plenty of parking , downstairs fantastic renovated bar complete with wheel chair accessible from carpark, outside seating and children's playground , inside plenty of seating and pool table.
Up stairs dining with a disabled lift that can cater for a wheelchair , toilets on both levels but only disabled downstairs.
Food was great but beware a little bit pricey ( brisket burger & chips $25 ).
A very place on a Sunday , my advice book a head .

We had the family visiting from Sydney and we all enjoyed the experience.
Firstly we were welcomed with a smile and the service that continued was great.
All of us enjoyed the wholesome meal that we chose and talked about making another opportunity to visit again to try other choices on the menu.
Many thanks to the people that work at the hotel who know how to continue the tradition country atmosphere.

Beautiful old pub that's been very tastefully refurbished!! Downstairs bar staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We (4pax) went upstairs for lunch (booking) and the food was quite nice but sadly they mixed up the order and the delicious sounding pork chop was replaced with crumbed Lamb cutlets which were quite disappointing.
Enjoyable day overall.

Long queue, lots of people on a Saturday night. Good food and service. Generous servings. Friendly staff. Will return next time in HV.

We came from out of town to visit with our family, who are regulars here, and I can see why. Our meal was delicious! The service was pretty fast for a packed saturday night. One meal was missed on our order, but the oversight could not have been rectified more efficiently, and the staff were incredibly apologetic.
The downstairs outdoor play area for the kids is great- a small area inside the dining space upstairs would make the place perfect.
The atmosphere is lovely, and all of the staff were great. Friendly, welcoming and fun, they are a real asset to your establishment.
Highly recommend a visit here!

Third time dining at the Royal Federal. I was a little hesitant thinking could they nail the meals again?! Of course they did! Meals were scrumptious ? reasonably priced ??'????' Happy staff and a playground for the kids. Well done to the management and team!

We went to the the Royal Federal Bistro for "Schnitzel Night" (Thursday night). My wife and I both had a very tasty meals and the beer/wine was nice and cold.

Very friendly staff - even though it was quite busy on the night they always have time to say hello and have a quick chat. Special shout out to Stephanie, Jess and Nicole for making us feel welcome. :-)

Had a work dinner there with 16 other people. Had to wait for dinner its a popular place. The entrees didnt take to long. I didn't mind the wait for the mains as my Taste of Texas was great. A beautiful dish of meats for the carnivores out there. Would definatly recommend.

Went here through a recommendation from pierre at pierre's winery. Was hands down best meal I had during my trip to Hunter valley. So affordable and such good food.

We were seated instantly and food was quick to arrive at the table. They had a large selection of foods and drinks on offer, and specials of the day too. We went on a Sunday and they had a oyster deal for $15 per dozen. They were a bit small, however they were still really sweet and we ended up ordering 2 dozens for our table.

We shared the smoked bbq menu, ordering beef brisket, pulled pork and chicken wings with a side of sweet potato fries. We got to choose some a selection of dips too and each meat came with a sauce. I would suggest asking them to have the sauces on the side, or specify which sauce you want on which certain meats.

The sweet potato fries were so good! I got some blue cheese aoili for my chicken wings, but they also tasted really good with the sweet potato fries! Just a really nice balance of sweet and salty!

The pulled pork and chicken wings were delicious with the whisky bbq sauce. The brisket was nice too, but a bit dry. The sauce certainly helped though!

Overall, the meal was really good and the ingredients were fresh and made really well. It certainly felt more like a restuarant than a pub!

Lovely old local with great pub food. Steaks done to order, and tasted better than some high end places (yes that's you Botswana Butchery) in Sydney.

Always loved this place until the last visit. Have been going there once and sometimes twice a week for about 5 years and have had beautiful meals and great service always UNTIL they put on a very unpleasant and rude woman as restaurant manager (She replaced one of the loveliest hospitality workers who is on maternity leave). I've never been spoken to on such a manner by such an unenthusiastic, ugly natured person in my life all of which was entirely unwarranted as all I asked for was the sauce I was promised with my meal. If I ever accompany my other half there again I will not be served by her if she is still there. I work in the employment service industry and meet wonderful and friendly people who would love to have a job. No one is irreplaceable - no one!

An old pub with lots of history, very charming and old world charm. Had dinner in the bistro upstairs which is accessible from stairs and an elevator. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Has a great play area for kids. Great place for families. And the food, of course, is delicious. Definitely will return. It's very popular and bookings are recommended

Wow. Talk about a gem set amongst the rough. This place was a total accident of a find.daughter and I were out for a Saturday drive and pulled into Branxton for lunch (support local economies) and decided we would do a pub lunch. Well, this place has changed since the last time I was here.

There was 2 car parks full of cars and now I understand why. This it quite possibly the best pub restaurant I have been too in a very long time. Even though the place was packed, service was quick and the meals came out in good time.

Everything about the meals was top notch. Salads were fresh, fish was well cooked, the chicken schnitzel was the best the daughter has ever had (solid 9.5 I was told.)

100% will be back and make this a regular lunch stop from now on.

First Impressions.... The Feddy gives a welcome vibe on arrival, good blend of old meets new accentuating/highlighting the personality of the building you can feel it's got history and keeps with today's times as it doesn't feel outdated. The food I ate was fantastic! Entree: corn bread & chilli compound butter ? I'm picky about lamb so I had the cutlets of course ? they where on point all meet tiny trim of fat ???- I would recommend giving this place ago. It really hit the spot!

Other than that steaks were nice,salads etc all good.

We had a family birthday lunch which was brilliant. The slow cooked meats were delicious and tender. The kids meals were good and they enjoyed the playground. The staff were helpful and courteous. Recommended!

One of the best places to eat in the Hunter Valley, pub food doesn't get any better than here.

The federal would likely be the best pub in the entire Hunter valley. Amazing consistent food, excellent specials and great staff plus atmosphere, highly recommend

Great Wood fired pizza, awesome steaks. Cold tap beer. What else do you need?

Great range of bistro foods including pizzas, steaks, schnitzels, salads. Very fresh and we'll cooked. Also variety of places to sit with various tastefully decorated rooms and verandahs, as well as main dining section. They even have a book exchange. Very efficiently run in terms of ordering and speed of service. Gorgeous old building with period features. Plenty of parking.

Steak lunch. Got a 300 and a 450gm rump. They were beautiful and cooked to perfection. Bistro is upstairs so you can eat on the balcony if you like. Or enjoy the library if you like. Playground available too. Excellent food, staff and selection of commercial and craft beers.

Weve eaten here a couple times this week while visiting the area. On both occasions the staff have been excellent. They are friendly, attentive and very accommodating. Top marks RFH team. The beers were fairly basic but tasted fresh like their system is regularly maintained. The food was great, wait times were quite short and the menu is reasonably priced. They also have some great midweek deals if youre here for a few days.
