Today my hubby and I had lunch here for the first time for our 16th wedding anniversary, we were served by the friendly and lovely Sarah, we waited no time for our meals Crumbed Cutlets, both meals were absolutely delicious and beautifully served, we would recommend eating here, and we will definitely go for the drive from Inverell back here to enjoy another lovely meal! Nice old pub in a quiet part of town. Dining area obviously fairly new and is a pleasant place to eat. Staff were very friendly and efficient.
Food came out very promptly and was very nice indeed. Two serves of crumb cutlets, one with a particularly nice salad and the other with veg, cutlets were nicely crunchy but not overcooked.
Prices were reasonable for the food presented

We stayed in Glen Innes overnight on the way to Brisbane and decided on dinner at the Railway after checking out their menu online. We were not disappointed. The service was warm and friendly and the food was excellent. The desserts were outstanding. We had the Salted Apple Crumble and the Lemon Tart. Absolutely delicious and a bargain at $12 each. As we left,e told the chef how much we enjoyed our meal and made special mention of the desserts. He said they're the work of the apprentice, (Tyler, I think). Apprentice? The bloke is a young genius! Thank you Team Tavern. You all do a great job!

Super fast service, friday night only took about 10 minutes max, from ordering to food being DELIVERED to our table!
And the food was amazing!

The bistro is amazing.
Food was 10 out of 10 and there wine and cocktails list was as good as any 5 star restaurant.
Would highly recommend the railway tavern.

This is your standard country pub. As you walking in there are locals sitting at the bar, sports and racing on the TV and pokies in the corner. Walk around the back and you'll find a much more modern divining room and to be fair the Chicken Parmigiana was pretty damn good. Great sized meal, everything as it should be and plenty of flavour in the sauce. There isn't much else in town so worth a visit and plenty of room for large groups. Maybe don't hang around the bar unless that's your type of thing!!!!

High standard Fare. We each had a 200g eye fillet ordered medium rare which it was but erred on the side of medium. Vegies & mushroom sauce good. Wine selection adequate.

Update - This place had great food and atmosphere. The parking wasn't an issue as we found a place directly outside. (This was a review of another place "Great stores but the parking is tight)

Great little pub (only one in town).

If you're the type of aussie cobba who enjoys receiving a meal within 30, 40, 50 or even 60 minutes of ordering then this place is probably not going to be for you but if you enjoy drinking 10 beers after ordering (after a hard day digging up blackjacks and 12 carat sapphires) while you're waiting for dinner then, you're still probably not going to enjoy here. I'd say I'm a fairly even-handed, maybe even generous reviewer and I tried to look for a saving grace but it was like sieving through silt with a 10 metre grate size, so even a seasoned expert like myself had no chance.. I'd recommend grabbing yourself a few cheese and bacon rolls from woollies and posting up stumps at home xxx - honest to God though this place was astoundingly bad, slow, expensive and shockingly average

Previously had some decent meals here but last night our table of 4 waited 1hr 15min for our food to come out - 3 parmas and a steak (medium). Chips were cold for everyone as was the steak and parmas were just barely hot enough - what the hell were we waiting for?
Didn't get asked how our meal was at all - maybe they knew?
Restaurant had a couple of big tables but they were already eating when we arrived. There was maybe 4 or 5 tables waiting to eat - all 2 or 4 people per table.
Won't be going back.

Extremely disappointing since new owners took over. Food is terrible. Not one out of the four of us enjoyed our meal. Very pricey, dry, sloppy. Won't be back

Now under new Management but still the Best Pub to eat out in town. Great service, thank you James, perfection as always. Friendly atmosphere, thank you Annie. Always clean, whether it be in the Dining Room or elsewhere. Also there's a new menu out which is always exciting.

Came in later in the night while travelling through town and this place was open when many others weren't.
Obviously very popular as the place was packed. Because of this our meal took a while coming but the quality of the food was wonderful and the price very reasonable.
The staff were very friendly and personable.

Tried to order some soft drink at the bar, after having our Id's checked and being underage we were told it's not okay to walk up to the bar, but that it would be okay for someone else to order a soft drink from the bar for us. After already having ordered our dinner, a young lady came to our table and told us we had to get out of the building as we're being kicked out. We either had the option of a refund or to wait at our table for our food in a takeaway container, and then leave. Which left us thinking why can't we still enjoy a meal at the table??

I understand completely being underage and not being allowed to order at the bar, but c' mon!? I have to be 18 to sit at a table (in a local restaurant!!) to sit and eat a meal or be with a legal guardian.

So heads up if you're underage, as of now you're apparently not allowed in the restaurant - even if it's just to enjoy a meal. Which in fact I've never had trouble with up until now; that the new owners run the place.

Every other time the food has been amazing though and majority of the staff and wonderful!!
Just not recommended for the teens in our local town as apparently you aren't even allowed in the door without a guardian anymore.

Do not know her personally, but amber from Grafton was so so rude and abrupt on a none busy shift she was working, regarding my out of town family visitors, i had paid for our meals but got up and left, money in your bank, out of my bank , thanks, she was one with attitude at woolies too when she was there. I am a local and I support glen business, what a shame.

We recently stopped here for tea with the family, was greeted by big hello's and friendly staff. Country folk in the pub were lovely also. Great meal was quick for the kids and great prices. Well done guys ??'?

Great old school pub. Had a steak sanga and a few New England Brewing Co Pale Ales.

Great experience! Staff are friendly and very efficient. Our server tonight was by far the fastest and most efficient server I've ever seen. And she still made time to talk to us all about our meal. The meals were good sizes and well priced. Everything was delicious. Options for vegetarians. Kids and desert menu. Dining room is quite lovely. Maybe not the best for those with mobility issues as there are some tighter corners in the building, but staff would be able to accommodate anyone I'm sure. Best to book ahead. Can easily fit medium sized groups. Overall an excellent dining experience.

The foods there is amazing and taste very good. Wines, beer also serve there.

we didn't have to wait long and our meals were served and no one was left disappointed ,awesome meals and value. The friendly barman Nathan even came over to our table to say hello and ask how we were all doing, highly recommend.

Loved this place beers are served cold, the service was quick and very friendly. They have an open fire place in the main bar there food was highly praised by my mates. I never ate there just sank some beers played the pokies. Great little Pub say from the hustle and bustle.
