We frequent the Pretoria quite often as our local pub and we have never had a bad experience. The food is also delicious with seasonal menus so there is always something different to try. The staff are always friendly and polite. Just a great all round place to either enjoy a family dinner or night out with the husband or friends.

Recently went for dinner at the Pretoria. There were 4 of us.
The chicken schnitzel with gravy and the beef parmi came out together. The mediterranean lamb salad and the Vietnamese chicken salad bowl came out a good 10 minutes later after they had tried to deliver an order for kangaroo to us, which was not ordered. Upon having the plates put down we discovered that they had put the lamb on the Vietnamese salad and the chicken on the mediterranean one. We asked for this to be rectified. In the meantime, the schnitzels were really bad. The beef was extremely chewy and the chicken was dry and looked like a supermarket pre prepared one. Eventually the salads came back out, and the lamb was so fatty it could not be eaten, the chicken one had not even a half breast worth of chicken in it (around 5 small pieces). All of this for about $30 per meal. None could be eaten. We asked for a refund on at least 2 of the meals as none could be eaten. We were given a refund for 1 meal. Big waste of money and will never return there.

Unfortunately we have been disappointed by the restaurant. The kangaroos in the mains were overcooked. The plate was savoury & sweet, which we can't stand and it was not mentioned on the menu when we ordered. I come back at the counter to order a starter or side because we were getting a bit late on time, we had to leave 20mns after. I politely ask the waitress which one is the fastest to cook and her colleague, a guy just laughed at me. They didn't even ask me why I would order an entree right after we got served the mains while this is just customer service, a part of the job. Finally I got served the wedges. They weren't really good either. The sour cream didn't even taste like sour cream, same thing with the mayonnaise. With sides eyes from one of them as we "finish" eating.. Most of the staff is young, I believe don't have enough experience and they are not giving the professional service customers are expecting. I barely ate a few bites that night. I was trying to hold things together because this dinner was for my boyfriend's birthday. But honestly we felt both very disappointed after the food and the service. PS: the lady with the red hair smiled at us when we were leaving, the very first nice thing somebody did all the time we were here. Thank you dear, I'll remember your smile among the bad things that night

We had a friends birthday dinner and food was beautiful. Was a very busy night but food came out hot and fast. Salt and pepper squid was sensational! Loved the venue

Great atmosphere, steak was cooked amazingly well and service was exceptional. Great views , balcony and beer garden, with plenty of ways to watch footy on game night. Definitely the best choice for the main street stop in for a meal or a pint.
