Went dinner on monday night, ordered steak, it was delicious, perfectly cooked. Highly recommended this pub in mortlake/concord. Top tier !

I visited this pub on the weekend and the food was excellent. I ordered the gnocchi and couldn't fault it. The atmosphere of the pub is great. There's a nice outdoor area at the back, perfect for a sunny afternoon. Keen to visit again soon.

Had dinner here with friends and the place was old and nostalgic. Checked the menu and they had my favourite a boscaiola schnitty which I can rarely order so I was sold. What was delivered was below standard. Not even recognisable as a bosca schnitzel. I then questioned the exc chef and he told me that was their boscaiola. I then started to search through the dish in front of chef asking where is the mushroom, where is the bacon in a cream sauce & where is the Parmesan cheese as advertised. Chef walked away with no response. Another cook then explained that's what we do. The schnitty was cover in melted mozzarella cheese to hide the atrocious effort of a boscaiola sauce. Chef should have his white jacket stripped. What a joke when paying $29 for a schnitty. That's highway robbery and no talent in the kitchen. I now wonder whether he is worthy of a chef jacket. His credentials don't match the slop he creates and serves. Never going back for food. Pub is a great hide away though just sadly let down by a talentless rip off merchant in the kitchen.

The food was well cooked, well presented and fresh. This place has the best vegetable burgers - wonderful patty with crispy edges, tasty chutney and generous serve of haloumi on a fresh bun. Others in our group had the salmon and the gnocci and were also impressed. Not bad value either and the service was pleasant and efficient on a fairly busy evening. The tables are also comfortably well spaced.

Nice pub but I was their couple nights ago having dinner ordered a burger only to eat half of it then found glass in it.
Told the bistro straight away was offered no refund or another meal.
They said sorry it's not glass it's hard plastic like that was OK. It was definitely glass I was not impressed by their response

This is a pub, not an accommodation hotel. The bar is really nice and the meals were great. The steak was delicious and the prices were reasonable. There is a gaming room and an outside area. Street parking only, but there is lots nearby. You should give it a try as it won't disappoint.

Great food. Try the half price burgers on Wednesday nights.
Great selection of beers on tap.

Been here a few times and service is great! Took my family today and baby needed a change - manager was very helpful and all the staff are just lovely. Food was delicious! Looking forward to next visit. Thanks ?

Had dinner and Friday night drinks with friends. Staff are friendly. The atmosphere was great for my age group 40 to 60 years. Plenty of drinks to choose from.

10/10 everyone and everything was amazing. Rooms are nothing much to look at like broken blinds and painted door window latch is stuck in ever room so you hear others and the floor is loud. The managers were top preference, kind and friendly while allways being helpful at every point in the day. Definitely will come back ?

The Palace is exactly as you would expect a good old pub to be. Decent food, a reasonable range of beer and wine, badge draw on a thursday and live music once a month. The bistro is quieter for a family meal and outdoor garden area is nice.

We had lunch, battered fish and chips. A big elegant stack, with salad. Beautifully cooked and presented. Excellent place to lunch at and a lovely outdoor experience, with birds visiting.

Bar service needs to be better. Waited 10 minutes just to be ignored everytime.
Yes it was busy, but if you see the same face waiting there each time you go to serve someone else, do something about it.

This is an old Pub with a nice Australiana ambiance. Great location at Breakfast point. Food is good, I took the Pork. The XPA is great. I did not have time to try many of the other craft beers. The afternoon sun through the windows into the main bar give the place a smile.
I also stayed in one of the rooms was about the same, but could have done with a little attention to maintenance and maybe a table for my LT, and a mirror and the TV could be lowered so I can see it with the bedroom lights are on. ???"??'?
Note it's share bathrooms.
I will probably go back next trip.

On entering room a large almost dead cockroach on the floor, fan only worked on full and squeaked when working, window faced air conditioning units for other rooms and with window open only hot exhaust entered room from units and unit noise was horrific, no air in this room, was stinking hot, light from hall came through glass top of door all night. Was worse than trying to sleep on a plane. Room was like a box room with a bed quickly dumbed in there. Only stayed 1night of two booked. Never use them again, I would rather sleep in the car.???

Pretty standard Aussie pub. Large screen TV's with racing and sport. Reasonable food available in the so called beer garden.

We stayed at the hotel. We are pretty comfortable in cheap accommodation and have stayed in many a hostel. This place was comfortable enough. But the problem was that it wasn't clean. There was an old blood stain on our bedding, there was also a mysterious dark stain on the sheets, one of the bathrooms did not have a functioning shower, and the actually working bathrooms were very dirty.

We booked a different place to stay the next night.

It's not the Ritz but for a place to sleep it served well. The food is great. The atmosphere is brilliant, the rooms are over the bar, witch is open until 2am.

As a watering hole many many years ago to walk into the Palace Hotel now the changes that have been made makes it a fantastic pub and the staff are friendly and the food was fantastic

The woman that takes and serves the food orders needs to go! She's not friendly at all. Time to go love. We won't be back. 1st time visiting here and last based on really poor customer service. We live in Sydney, a world class city and there's plenty of other decent places to go. The bar staff was equally as unhelpful and cold.

Who ever owns this place needs under cover boss in here to shake things up.

Food normally good. Was served up a Caesar Salad today with some of the lettuce brown. Lost my appetite. You would think Caesar salads are quite popular- how can you have off lettuce?

Nice looking pub, clean and tidy. The food was good with a decent portion. Didn't have to wait long either. However the service at the food counter wasn't friendly and felt quite strange as though you were troubling them by being there. The kitchen staff were lovely though.

Great suburban pub tucked away as a discovery venue. Lucky locals. We were fortunate enough to experience their brand new menu and no complaints from anyone on our table, that's for sure.

Hats off to the staff for managing the change without a hitch, as far as I could tell.

New menu with lots of options to keep everyone happy. Great fries, very generous servings and friendly staff! You won't be disappointed.

The Palace has been our go-to local for many years. Before tonight it was friendly with great above average pub meals. We always enjoyed it.
Gosh, what has happened?
The 'new' menu was confusing. So hard to read. All the favourite meals are gone. The burgers were ordinary and the choice limited.
The wait was long, over an hour even though the place was less than half full.
The service was not great. We were trying to help our waitress give the meals to the right person as she clearly had no idea who ordered what and didn't bother to ask. She then stated that she 'only had 2 hands'. Bit rude. She was our waitress after all, it is her job to deliver the meals I would assume in a friendly manner. No personality and a bad attitude.
What a shame, maybe not our local anymore.

Door man walk around as if they are just it they come across rude and up them Selves.
The food is the best.
The women that work there are very helpful and polite.
Apart from the up them Selves doorman .. This is the best pub around and I go to a few.

We loved visiting the Palace hotel bar and restaurant.

The staff are friendly, the food in the restaurant was divine, we had the chicken Oscar and fillet million steaks. Both absolutely divine. Only criticism was the mash potatoes, the seemed bland or just not right. We assumed they might be powered mash.

But really the rest of the food was worth it, steaks incredibly tender!

The Palace Hotel is a great visit for anyone in Broken Hill or passing through.

Giving this 4 stars but would prefer 4.5.

Only other negative is that the front desk person to book dinner must have been having a bad day as she complained how busy it was. This is fine but don't do it in front of customers.

Staff members will swear at you if you ask simple queries regarding the sign-in process for drinks that you will be consuming at the restaurant rather than at the bar.I will never be visiting this establishment again. Forget professionalism - they have aggressive, angry Millennials running the bar who have the customer skills of an Eggplant.I do not recommend this place whatsoever, and would give it 0 stars if I could.Avoid.

Wonderful pub atmosphere, staff were excellent, all COVID19 awareness excellent, great meals and good cold beers.

Generally always a consistently good pub. Service is good, beer selection good and the bistro does good food! Also open late.
