Love the renos to the front bar. Great place for a beer & sports. Can get loud which doesn't bother me but does my partner. The "Beer Garden" is really just an outdoor dining space now. The upstairs pool rooms are great spot to shot pool with a few mates.

Great vibe good food. Little pricey but good value.

Biggest problem is the service. Was asked to move from a table cause it was "booked" even though they had less people than in our party, and we had to squeeze onto a smaller table. No reason they couldn't have taken that and staff member was a bit of a Karen. No reservation on the table either.

The other issue is the organization of ordering and collecting meals. Pretty average for such up-market venue to hand out pub buzzers, and have tens of people lining up squeezing through a cramped race with trays of $50 streaks. Bit odd especially considering staff are often standing around. QR codes or table service would be much better and managed by many other venues without issue.

Still a great night out.

Great place to catch up with mates! The venue has plenty of seating but if you are planning to have dinner, book ahead.
There beer garden has a beautifully lit tree in the centre, with plenty of seating and heaters. No table service.
Food was quick, beers flowing and overall great atmosphere. Beef cheeks and the fried chicken burger was delicious!

Loved everything about this place apart from the food lol!
Ordered medium rare steak and it was really really cooked and chewy.
However the staff are very professional and friendly.
The atmosphere is pretty nice too.
Overall not bad for a casual dinner with low expectations

The Oaks is a favourite for a classic pub lunch. The food is always fresh and well cooked. The staff are always friendly both at the bar and dining area. Perhaps a few more varieties of zero alcohol wine would be appreciated. The wine that was available was very pleasant. A great venue both with inside and outside dining.

Very nice ambiance, especially at night with the light up tree. The food is a different story though, totally underwhelming and overpriced for the quality you receive. Small portions, cheap ingredients and basically bland flavours. Only thing I'd recommend is the coconut chicken salad but even that is not worth $28.

I rate this place a three out of five for the following reasons;

Service; To order food, you need to go into the Oaks public bar and go to the checkout/check in counter to order your food. Service is cordial and friendly, however, the person who served me today did not understand 'salad' and when I asked about salads, the checkout chick gave me bland description of the salads - therefore, I did not order the salad, as it sounded un-appetizing. The order came in good time, no long wait - the place was medium busy. When I looked at a salad another woman was having - I thought, that is not what was described to me - therefore, I would suggest all staff get fully indoctrinated into the menu. All sauces, cutlery, salt, pepper, napkins are next to the check out person and they have a good selection of sauces etc. and ample hand-sanitizer everywhere. Drinks are available - again its a place where you order your drink, and you take it to your table (unlike some upmarket pubs who often bring you your drink to your table once you have ordered).

Food; Today we ordered the crispy chicken burger with fries and small salad and aioli and a steak sandwich with fries, small salad. Both meals were tasty, my burger bun was soft, the burger was 'crispy' as per the description and the apple slices/slaw was okay - I would not order this again because the slaw was mediocre and a tad dry - it needed more dressing. I solved it by dousing the burger with chilli sauce. The steak sandwich was cooked well, but my friend said the steak was a bit 'tough', verging on chewy. We did not sample the drinks menu - but it looked as though it had the usual beer, spirits, bubbles etc.
Plenty of water available which is nicely chilled.

Cleanliness; We out next to the famous Oak tree, and the table was clean. On this occasion, I did not use the bathroom - no comment on this aspect.

Value for money; Overall, good value for money considering this is the Neutral Bay area. I paid $54.50 for the crispy chicken burger and the steak sandwich.
Parking; unsure where the parking lots is - I arrived via hire car.

X-factor; Always great to visit this pub, to sit by the famous 'oak tree' (hence the name 'The Oaks') - If it wasn't for the tree, I wouldn't necessarily come here, however, It brings back fond memories of my long patronage of this pub.

We had burgers, poke bowl and mussels. They were ok, poke bowl is a bit mexican on one side of the bowl, but Japanese on the other, was not what I expected. Rice was very sticky.
Mussels is juicy and buttery.

Szchuan pepper squid is meaty and good flavour, but couldnt taste the szchuan pepper corn, more salt and pepper.

Quite a long wait for food for saturday lunch time, food itself is ok but a bit pricey considering the average quality.

Great setting with plenty of space for large groups, but the food is not the main event here.

Went for a large work function and understandable that food was average with the snacks being the better option. Mains were expensive and bland, with the fishes being the better of the mains. Pizza looked great however didn't taste better than frozen supermarket pizza as the prawns were definitely of the frozen kind which lacked flavour. All in all, we liked the location with the beautiful outdoor setting and Oak tree, and service was decent relative to the amount of patrons.

Was in the area and felt like a good pub steak. Ordered the Scotch Fillet 300g. It was a bit on the pricey side however it was good quite well. The vibes here are quite chill. Definitely a great place to come with friends for a few drinks and food.

Celebrated a mile stone here and the setting and evening was terrific. Loved the bar and grill space as much as the outdoor gatden. Food options were extensive and what we chose came out promptly and tasted bloody good for a pub! Drinks were great too as well as the service standards especially for the food counter team and the service staff, we will be back for sure!

Super busy at lunch on a sunday, but worth it!! The scotch fillet was cooked to perfection and the blanched beans and creamy mash were out of this world good!!!!!
There is so much room for dining both inside and out. Aswell as downstairs.

The Oaks is all about the wonderful old Oak tree that forms the centrepiece of one of the best beer gardens around. There is a big focus on quality beef in the menu but it does still offer a good selection of pizzas and other specials. There are a selection of very nice bars inside offering a good range of beers, wines and cocktails.

Great food. Not cheap, but not expensive either -- and the food was just amazing. Staff were also careful and understanding about an allergy in our group.

This is a mix of the two latest times I've been to the oaks... first time: burger was great and I have no complaints.
The second time: it was genuinely the worst pizza I've ever had.
Mixed experiences but if you stay away from the pizzas you'll enjoy it all

Great location and a Great place to chill with friends while enjoying the cozy atmosphere of the outdoor backyard. The drinks were served quickly each time and they were great. however, I wish they treat everyone with the same manner not with the colour of their skin. First time I ordered my drink, one of the lady ask me, " can you wear your mask as we cant serve you", and I totally respect a venue's decision and I said certainly but please have few signs on the bar informing people to wear mask. After second and third time that I was ordering drinks for my friends I noticed the same lady serving people with no mast and she she didn't mentioned a word to them about mask. I wish any business policies whether they are right or not will be treated to everyone equally.

Eating out under the tree, in the sun in their courtyard is very enjoyable. It's a big pub with 4 or 5 different areas. Long and good menu. I enjoyed my mussels in white wine sauce today.

OK so the steaks are good but the consensus from all four of us is that the sides are rubbish. Get the Cream of Spinach, really good creamy truffle mash, decent onion rings, solid serve of mushrooms and this would be one of Sydney's best steak joints. Message us when you have the sides together and we'll be back. PS. Don't run out of Oysters by 7pm.

This is one of the few hotels in Sydney that you can't miss. The food is amazing, the environment is great, the tree with the million lights is just something that could be on a postcard. However, in our experience the most important factor that contributed to make our experience an outstanding one was the amazing service from one the restaurant's staff, she really made the difference from being a good experience to an unforgettable one. Her name is Sienna and I'm very grateful for her outstanding service. It's not rare to have a good service from a good restaurant in Sydney, and if you think about it, a restaurant may spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in decoration, menus, events, etc. However, nothing compares to the satisfaction that a customer gets from such an amazing service provided by a staff that goes above an beyond their customers to guarantee them a good time.
Thank you Sienna I want to congratulate you for taking pride in your work and making our experience in the Oaks an unforgettable one.

Would like to recommend this place to anyone that enjoys a pleasant and harmonious aura while enjoying a tasty meal with refreshing bevies! And staff with that smile making that customer service to rank 5 stars.

Very user friendly for families and the menu selection has proven to be tasty for adults and kids.

Thank you guys, we like your place very much!

Whilst Enjoying the pub atmosphere, Sadly the staff do not consider the dynamics of the regular patrons with their own selection of wild music.. Looking around today, at the average patron there today, they were well over 50. I would suggest 95% of us absolutely do NOT enjoy loud heavy rock music blasting away at 12noon whilst we are attempting to have a conversation and trying to enjoy a meal & a drink.... consideration of the patrons in all areas should be a priority..at any restaurant, hotel or anywhere people gather & are a paying customer. It should not be about staff playing hideous loud music for their own benefit.

The Oaks is great venue. Fabulous staff and excellent food. Not the cheapest in pub dining with wines being a bit pricey.

Great bar with so many different areas to experience. Downstairs, you have the nice bar for a drink. Out back, an are under the beautiful Oak tree. Upstairs, plenty of rooms for a fun private game if pool. It's just a nice bar all round!

Dined on a Sunday night and used their online booking system to reserve a table; was simple and easy. Booked at 7pm so wasnt as busy but still a decent crowd. Had the 1.4kg tomahawk steak for $95 which is an excellent deal; comes with green beans, roasted potatoes and choice of 3 sauces as a standard. Took about 45 mins to cook the beast so be patient. The sticky date pudding was also excellent. The place has such a great vibe, definitely worth checking out for a drink and meal that is very reasonably priced.

Always a great relaxed atmosphere, love dining outside under the beautiful big old oak tree adorned in fairy lights. Wonderful dining menu, food is served quickly by friendly staff, I had the Barramundi with broccoli and the chef was more than accommodating with my food allergy requests. The sticky date pudding for dessert was the best I've had in a long while...
