We stayed 3 nights here in a double room with shared bathroom and we enjoyed our stay. Amazing kitchen facilities which were often empty whenever we were cooking. The rooms were a good size and walking to your room is like walking through a jungle. We were given a kettle and fridge in our room which was unexpected and lovely. Only down side was that the room became damp over night and it was difficult to dry towels/clothes. Staff were lovely and helpful and the overall location was amazing, in the centre of Airlie with a good pub within a 30 second walk and a beach a 3 minute walk away.

The shower facilities were sub par, if you are below 5''6 then the shower will cover your head but any higher and the shower is below face height, the temperature also fluctuates a lot.

All in all, a great hostel.

Stayed here after a Whitsundays boat trip and it was great. The rooms are small but comfortable and all close to showers and toilets. The kitchen was easy to use but does get quite busy.

Also, thanks to Joules, on the reception desk, who got us into a room much earlier than we expected after our boat trip! It was great when we were desperate for a shower and some AC!

Wow! Perfect place to stay right behind the main strip of Airlie Beach. Cabin was simple, with everything we needed. Short walk to the bar, 2 more steps to the shops, and across onto the stunning beaches. Loved it! We will be back!

Good value backpackers hostel located in the centre of town.

Room was dated and cramped and shared amenities were basic.

Despite the proximity to Magnum's Bar we enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep in a very comfortable bed.

Staff were really friendly and accommodating for luggage storage once we had checked out.

We stayed in Magnums for 1 night in a private double room (bunk bed).

Service:
The service was good. We were greeted and let into our room right away.

Rooms:
The beds were comfortable but the rooms were small. The room came with a mini fridge.

Location:
Great location with everything being within walking distance. The bar attached is great for socializing. They do not serve food, but allow you to bring in your own food.

After the wonderful experiences we had at Magnums last year, we traveled to Airlie Beach again this year on our big trip to Australia and stayed at Magnums again for two weeks. Our wish to get the same cabin again was fulfilled. We were very happy here again, went swimming in the lagoon and the sea and read on the terrace of our hut when it rained. Of course, our "friend" Maria at the reception gave us again great advice for a trip to Whitehaeven Beach and also gave us other valuable advice. But, the entire reception staff has to be mentioned and complimented for their friendliness and helpfulness. The cleaning staff is always very friendly and can only be praised for their good work. As soon as we leave, we will be longing to stay at Magnums again.

This is a really great hostel. I'm not normally a hostel person but was genuinely impressed with the air con in the rooms and the bathrooms were cleaned every day.

Losing a 1* because the tumble dryer has absolutely wrecked some of my clothes :( I have lots of tops with rips and black stains in them that didn't used to be there. I didn't realise this until after we had left unfortunately. Just a word of caution if you're looking to do some washing!

One of the cleanest hostels have stayed in, nice central location. Air con in the room made the stay super comfy. Staff are top notch, were very helpful, especially when we had to change our plans last minute and they didn't charge us for early check out. Refunded us straight away which most wouldn't do.

Had a great time here! Stayed just one night, arrived after hours, so phoned ahead to let reception know. They advised they would pop a key in a safe box for us and text us the pin number, which they did. Super smooth check in. The room was fine, and the overall layout and feel of the place was great! Excellent location, right across the street from the lagoon. The friendly reception staff were happy to mind our bags for a few hours after we checked out. Highly recommend this place 😊

Stayed for 3 nights for my birthday in Airlie beach and really enjoyed it. The place is so well run, clean, generous sized queen cabins, fully equipped kitchens with plenty of space. The adults-only element is perfect as it stops the screaming kids, and associated chaos 😂 the location is excellent, right in the centre of everything!

The layout of the resort is genius because we never heard a single sound after 10pm from our cabin. There is a lively atmosphere out front with music and themed nights. Can't fault the place....I wish I had the money to stay a month, haha!!

I came here because it had been recommended to me and I was right to choose it. Very clean, a very well equipped kitchen and a very pleasant atmosphere. I would choose it again if I had to repeat. The rooms are comfortable and very well equipped for its size.

Absolutely amazing place. Super functional, great location, staff was friendly. Kitchen was super useful. A Woolies is like 10 steps away and you are a block away from the ocean and 3 min walk to the Lagoon which is an awesome public pool. Recommended!

We stayed here for 3 nights, which was amazing.
I was a bit worried that it would be loud at night since a bar was nearby, but it was really quite.
Rooms are small but not too much.
It gives a nice cosy vibe and was in a natural environment.
Kitchen was really clean and has pretty much all utensils.
Toilets and showers were clean and we didn't have any complict with other people using those facilities.
Has an ac and a fan, which were working well.
I was sad that I needed to leave here ;(

Magnums is a large backpacker's place which is better than most. If you want to stay in Airlie Beach, it is centrally located, right in the centre of town. It also has a lovely location along a leafy creek bed with native vegetation everywhere. The facilities are good, but the service is not. This hostel will clean your room once a week. If you want them to clean your room before then, there's a $45 charge. This feels a bit sharp.

Great stay. Rooms are a big small, shard with luggage but you get a private room which is nice. Feels like you're staying in a rainforest and all rooms have fans and strong A/C. Not a very social hotel has there are no dorms. Music from nearby bar gets very loud until about 9/10 pm. Showers and toilets super clean and always empty.
I was very scared of bugs but saw absolutely none, except one fly and one mosquito outside my room.
I had an issue with the first room being very stuffy and the smell not leaving, Imogen from reception was great and got me a super fast room change with made all the difference.
Location is great and woolies and the lagoon just a 2 min walk away.
I think for the area this is the best budget accommodation you're going to get.

An unique accommodation. Makes one feel like living in a jungle cabin. Was a bit nervous about shared toilets but it was 100%OK. A bit old but clean and more than enough to meet the basic need. Bed and few amenities inside the room are also old but again good enough if you are not looking for luxury. Other than that excellent. A full kitchen is available for all residents. Woolworth is just around the corner. A small thai take Cafe is available. And live music at night. 2 minutes walk from lagoon. Highly recommended

In my humble opinion this place was perfect for our intention to have a easy and comfortable location to go and come back.
Also, the staff was pretty nice and the pub closest was great, we had lovely nights there.
My only bad points could be the rooms, which were a bit packed, and the bathrooms, some of which were plenty of insects.
However, I may recommend anybody go there and enjoy airlie beach.

We got in late and had to ask for a late check in but they were very accomodating and from there it was just a matter of finding our room, and then figuring out where to park, both would have probably been much easier of we'd arrived while checking was still open, but oh well. The place is gorgeous, you feel like you're in a tree house even on the ground floor, with trees everywhere, a barbecue area, hammocks you can hang out in, etc. You get what you pay for with shared bathrooms that you go outside to get to, plenty of bugs, since the bathroom is open air, but the AC in the room worked great and the beds were comfortable enough. They provided a mini fridge, tea kettle, mugs, and spoons in your room as well as a huge communal kitchen nearby. We were just there for one night but would have been happy to stay for longer. It felt like summer camp in the best way.

Very affordable accommodation on prime location. It is backpackers style, but we felt it was a bit more quiet and relaxed compared to other hostels. They do have a strict no party policy and if your room is on the back end, you won't hear the music from the bar. Double room is small, but it has everything you need. Shared facilities were great and kept clean. The only downside was the damp and slightly smelly room, but for that price you won't expect luxury quality.

The staff and accommodation are absolutely lovely. The location is perfect to enjoy town! This property was large and had many options to stay. We were lucky to enjoy a private 2-bed with shared bathroom. The kitchen was large and very clean. The only downside was the shared bathrooms were essentially outside and weren't the most well kept. Couldn't blame the staff though! There's a lot of bugs and with them being mostly outside it's definitely a lot to keep clean.

Would definitely stay again at Magnums!

It's the perfect accommodation for a budget trip to Airlie. The hostel has different options, including cottage with en suite bathroom. Common bathroom is always clean and the kitchen is big and well furnished. Part of the complex is a pub so you kill two birds with one stone! (Not noisy at all). The only negative point is the mattress... very uncomfortable.

Jules on the front desk was amazing helping me book and sort out some last minute distruption to my excursions. Room was clean and suitable sizes, you're always going to get a few bugs with semi outdoor bathroom facilities but cleaning staff did as best of a job as they could so wasn't that bad. Social hostel and had a good time

The service and accommodations are great! I stayed in the one room that has a private kitchen and bathroom, but the shared facilities looked awesome. The shared kitchen is huge and there are many shared bathrooms. The best part: it felt like you were tucked in a jungle. The grounds are very tropical and well designed. The location can't be beat. Steps from the beach and swimming lagoon. It is a 3-minute walk to the grocery store. The property is in the heart of all the bars and restaurants. The bad part: late night music from a nearby bar. Our stay was on Friday and Saturday night of schoolie week, so it may have been more noisy than usual.

Great hostel, awesome vibe. Beware, they charge for luggage storage which is bizarre. That's my only negative feedback. Otherwise great water pressure, quiet rooms, clean enough, great landscaping. Overall a good experience.

Magnums is a great affordable option based on the main street of Airlie Beach. The double room I booked was basic, with a shared bathroom, and hidden amongst a small rainforest, which I wasn't expecting, but ultimately loved. The atmosphere is overall amazing. I only had one issue with my room, and when I bought it up it was fixed that same day, so they are very prompt about fixing any issues you may have. Booking tours through them is also simple. The ladies at reception are lovely and are very knowledgeable about the tours, and where some good places are to eat. It is surrounded by pubs which play music until around 10pm (usually live) so it can be a bit noisy, and the walls on the rooms are thin, so you can easily hear people moving about in the mornings, which is the only downside if you like the quiet. Otherwise, this is a great, central place to stay in the Whitsundays. I definitely recommend it.

Fantastic position! Reception staff made us feel unwelcome, bathroom dirty and lots of hair. You would have a more comfortable and welcoming stay if you stayed at a hospital. Will never go back to Magnums

We loved our stay at Magnums in Airlie beach last weekend. The room had everything we needed and the aircon is a great addition. The shared bathrooms were fine to use!
And we loved how close the bar was. Airlie beach is so fun and we'll definitely go back to Magnums again

I really enjoyed staying at Magnums with my friend. It was like living in a rainforest yet we still had supermarket, restaurants and nightclubs nearby. I really don't have anything negative to say. I slept so well too, it was not a noisy place and the bed was very comfortable! Thank you! :)

Hard to fault really. Great prices for holiday on a budget. Our shower could have been just a tiny bit bigger :-) but great water pressure, lovely surroundings, excellent location.

I supposed this place would be quiet and peaceful to rest. but it was not like that. Very noisy. impossible to sleep in this place. there is a no noise no alcohol policy that no one control. this place is perfect for someone who is looking party time.

We stayed for 6 nights and wanted to stay longer. Jules was a blast she helped us with everything and was a good laugh. Chris was also great in helping us out and Lachie well he loved a chat we couldn't keep him quiet. Thanks for everything guys we highly recommend and we will see you again no doubt.

Staff are really helpful and friendly here. The location is perfectly central with the beach, Woolworths, cafes and restaurants literally at your doorstep. The pub is a lot of fun but the noise does travel a bit (finished at 2am). Kitchen is equipped and spacious. Love the jungle cabin vibe. My feedback would be to add screens on the windows and doors. It gets stuffy in the rooms and there is no way to air it without inviting the large tropical bugs inside

Magnums was great! We are both in our 60s and have never stayed at a 'backpackers' before. We were attracted by the queen bed cabins and our cabin proved to be very comfortable, clean, spacious and quiet. It feels like you are in the rainforest, even though we were right in town. Jules at receptions was great and made us feel very at home. Thanks for the great stay.

Great location, the team in Magnums were helpful and the room(private double) was perfect. Towels were clean, the shower was hot. People were friendly and the kitchen had plenty of space for all to move about. Laundry room was great and Woolworths was just next door. Would recommend this a friend. ?

Magnum's Accommodation have free parking, staff are friendly, the communal kitchen is clean. Bed and the rooms are clean. Location is great too. We enjoyed our stay.

We've stayed at Magnums for more than a week. It was supposed to be for a couple of days but we kept extending our stay because we simply loved it. Kitchen is nice and clean, rooms are very clean, reception is helpful, there's wifi if you need it, all in all such a good experience and they have accommodated us perfectly. Special thanks to Myrna (in housekeeping) and Elizabeth (the owner) for making our stay so funny and memorable, I will keep recommending Magnums to everyone traveling to Airlie beach.

I stayed here about 8 yrs ago on the way back to my country.A bit loud place to sleep because of the party people. Anyway I met lots of nice traveller mates here. Good old memory.

I stayed at Magnum's Backpackers in Airlie Beach for two nights in the Deluxe Self-Contained Cabin and it was amazing. The cabin was so comfortable. I had everything I could need and it was close to the supermarket, restaurants and Port of Airlie to get to tours easily. I was able to cook some meals in the cabin and eat out when I wanted too. The staff at Magnum's were also super friendly and knowledgeable and I booked my tours through them via the website before I arrived making the process even easier. I would definitely stay here again.

Amazing hostel! Rooms are incredibly cozy, everything is really clean - you also have a fridge and some plates in the room which makes things really easy. The kitchen is fully equipped, everything worked really well, very organized and really clean. Laundry was easy as well and cheap. Couldnt recommend it enough! Check out the tours with them. They were good priced and really fun!
