The beer was very nice. The arancini balls were very nice. The staff was friendly and efficient.

My girlfriend got felt up by a man passing by her in this club. A security guard took down her name as we were leaving a half hour's after initially alerting one after the incident - and put it in his notes on his phone saying they'll 'check their cameras' and told her to ask next time she's there to get an update on the situation.

I went to Finnegan's over the weekend to enjoy the night with some friends. It was pretty fun! It was moderately crowded, so plenty of people to complete the atmosphere but not shoulder to shoulder. There were three different rooms with various music, so you always have another choice. Though, I must say downstairs was the only room I really liked. It also has a stage! I didn't buy any drinks, but I've heard they are expensive. They have a free water tap at the bar as well. It was free entry before 11pm, so there was no fee when I got there - although it's around $10 afterwards.

Very unwelcome response we received from the security was absolutely appalling!
Only living in Newcastle for a couple of years, this is the only time that I have ever felt uncomfortable and mistreated or judged.
I had two visitors with me from Sydney who witnessed this behaviour and it did not go down well.
I can understand if we were a group of boys or men, but we were three women attempting to enter the venue. unnecessarily spoken to like a peace of....,,,, from the security, after ID was scanned I was singled out by a second guard and questioned, my ID requested.
I understand the importance of having security at a venue to maintain order, but seriously cut the attitude and the rudeness it's just not necessary.

Finnigan's has gone down majorly , one of the worst places in Newcastle, the security guards are nothing but power tripping narcissists. They don't care how they treat you it's actually so disgusting what they can get away with it. Shoving women down the stairs while we're trying to leave , don't bother wasting your time?

Women stay clear, got kicked out because I made eye contact with a security guard- not too intoxicated just having a good time, didn't even let me tell my friends that I'm leaving. Everyone says this place promotes abuse and spiking from security guards

If I could give zero stars, I would. If you are a woman DO NOT GO HERE! YOU ARE NOT SAFE AT FINNEGAN'S. They encourage spiking & abuse from security. I cannot stress enough; boycott this misogynist's paradise. It is beyond unsafe. Do not go here!

Great place & staff. Big lines on wknds for entry, so you might want to get in line early if you are a tourist or 1st timer.

Was kicked out for leaning on the power bank rental waiting for my girlfriend to hire one. Was told I was too intoxicated, (hadn't drank for atleast 2 hours) was then told I could speak to a security guard before I was kicked out and didn't get to speak to anyone.

Jesus I am too old for this place now. It was the first time I've ever been there. My old man worked there in the day, round late 90s early 2000s (i think, could have been earlier than that but i ant asking him at 1:38 in the morning) as a chef so actually going inside and seeing what the place was like was kind of a trip. I know it would have changed a lot since he worked there, who knows. Anyway, I digress. Anyway, it's a pub. I was there for a child free drinking night with my mates from charlestown dungeons and dragons adventurers league. Nerds, amirite? Anyway. The place was a stark reminder of how old I am now hahaha I went home with my dignity. I can only hope I can say the same for some of the younger folk there tonight. Maybe it's the old barman in me but geez Louise I felt for the staff. I watched a guy swirl his drink splashing it all over the bar like it was no biggie. He wasnt the only one, either. The young bartender just smiled as they cleaned the bar with a handy rag you knew they had way too much experience with. Thank you for your service, by the way. I ended having a little dance. The security guard even let me use the bathroom after id already left before i called an uber. Top bloke. To be honest, it was a bit of a pub crawl because one of the crew had just turned 18. He's going to feel it tomorrow. Cheers for a good end to my night, Finnegans crew.

Totally appalling to hear how a woman who's drink was spiked last week was treated by the venues management and security. And then to make a public statement about their 'ask for angela' initiative that claims to protect people if they're feeling uncomfortable within the venue. These values are obviously not truly held by your staff or security when it comes to a person being in real danger in your venue.

Thank god her friends were on the ball protecting her even though they were laughed at and not believed by the venues licencee and intimidated and disbelieved by security. Do a hell of a lot better, Finnegans. Look after the young people who keep your venue alive and believe them when they need your help.

I was with my wife, who they wanted to let in without me. Yes... the security literally said that they would let my wife in but not me. she obviously wasn't going to do that. So we went elsewhere. Probably a good idea anyway after reading all the posts about woman getting spiked.. would give a lower rating if I could.

Absolutely disgusting place! Security guards are rude and comment on a person's appearance (speaking from experience) make comments like "Next time put in the effort, make the effort"! Not only that, they allowed a girl to get spiked for a second time, whilst also not getting her medical attention she so desperately needed! They brushed her off even when she was blacking in and out and going in an out of consciousness.

This place needs to be shut down, at minimum every single one of the security guards need to be fired!

There is a big difference between opinion and fact! They choose their opinion over medical attention. If that doesn't say how bad this place is I don't know what will!

Extremely rude and unprofessional staff and security. I have heard of multiple people that go to Finnegans for a night out and end up in an ambulance because they were spiked and even still security either don't care and just stand around and watch as an ambulance is called or they don't believe these victims based on their "personal opinion". Definitely would not recommend this place to any woman who would like a fun night out as this place provides the exact opposite of "fun" and "safe". Do better.

Waited an hour to get in and paid 10 bucks to be kicked out and locked out in 30 seconds for trying to order a drink.
Only go here if you feel like being spiked or glassed.

Had a terrible experience with security. Was kicked out almost immediately, left outside alone with none of my belongings. I couldn't call my friends or a cab and it was honestly a scary experience.

Absolutely awful management and security. Had multiple friends kicked out at seperate times without a reason. They weren't allowed to get their phone or bag and were left alone on the street for hours with no way to contact anyone. The complete disregard for customer safety is appalling.

Treated really poorly at the entry by security and staff, we were sober and the guy mocked us. Eventually letting us back in after letting a heap of people move Infront of us. It was really demeaning, there's much better managed clubs out there that don't give off bad vibes.

I've been attending this club for over 15 years and was kicked out while having a few drinks (not the first time). To be kicked out while spending time with friends before 11pm was the nail in the coffin for me. I've honestly had more poor experiences than good. Finnegan's could be the best club in Newcastle but is run by tools that don't understand nightlife.

It's basically a political campaign with regard to getting into the venue. Majority of the bouncers have a superiority complex which isn't a surprise, but forces you to pretend they are actually decent humans just to have a beer.
Security is very strict inside and the toilets are almost always completely fully of urine and vomit, almost unusable.

Your security guard is on a power trip, he made me name every single one of my friends just to get in.

Horrible customer service. Wouldn't recommend on a late night out, you will be waiting for ever.
