To the miserable male Karen "greeting" guests upon entry at 11am Saturday 13/01. You need to do way better. Being passive aggressive with guests attending an event just takes away from the entire experience. Food and drink was great, venue was good. Bar staff were good, but much like the rest of the guests - just couldn't get over how rudely we were greeted.

Attended a few functions here. It's laid back with a pub style feel. They sometimes have live music in the weekend which adds a nice vibe to the day.

Their gourmet prawn pizza is quite tasty and their drink selection is satisfactory.

Plenty of space for multiple gatherings and kid's birthday parties. Very family friendly.

With all the school community events I attended this year I noticed The Diddy was always a popular choice.

I've been going to the Diddy for about the last four years now and over this time the food and service has always been relatively good. We had an end of year function (group of 20) at the Club last Saturday and as it was so hot we transferred the booking to use the function room. Nothing was set up for us on arrival so we had to set the room up ourselves. No-one seemed to care at all about customer service to that area even though there was part of the main bar area that serviced the function room. Some of us felt our food was very ordinary for the price and that the standard has dropped a lot.

Classic 'Old School' club with a very good beverage selection of premium wines, mainstream and craft beers. Pizzas are very good too! Relaxing atmosphere for a bunch of friends to catch up.

Although the food and hall itself were suitable, I was incredibly disappointed with the organisation and service for my mother's birthday party celebrations in the function hall. Here is a (lengthy) account of my experience that may help others to make a decision as to whether they want to book this venue for an event. We were told prior to the event that it was a very relaxed venue, we could set up anytime after 3pm (for a 6pm start) and that we could select certain bottles of wine and certain beers to add to a bar tab. When we arrived around 4pm with some decorations, there was a children's birthday party on. One of the more senior staff members at the bar was very flippant with us when we asked when the last function would end for us to be able to start setting up, and we had to prompt him several times before he would assist the junior staff member in checking when the last booking would end. It ended at 5:30pm, which we should have been told prior to the date, as my guests were arriving at 6pm and had I known this, I could have decided to set the start time at 6:30pm to allow additional time for set-up. It was not explained, despite calling beforehand, that another function was on prior and that we could not access the hall until 6pm even for set-up. Once I set up the bar tab, I decided to purchase particular bottles of wine, which I was told in a prior phone call was possible. I noticed later on in the night that items that I had not authorised that guests had ordered had been added to the tab, with no consultation or mention from the bar staff or manager. At 5:40pm, the room was dirty and disorganised. Luckily the catering manager helped to organise the bar staff to vacuum and clean tables, though he was the only staff member who was kind and willing to help on the night. I asked around 5:45pm about the projector, to which I was told to "just sort it out later when I needed it because it's really easy". When the connection did not initially work later in the night, the manager immediately blamed my computer - it eventually worked after he turned the projector off and on again. We were told half way through the event that there were no more wine glasses available, but no staff had entered our room to clear glassware at any point during the night and they didn't bother after we alerted them that there were plenty of dirty glasses available to be cleaned in the function room. This seems unusual to me because it would have seriously affected their sales, as many guests now were unable to have another glass of pre-bought wine. At no point did anyone come to ask how everything was going. The bar staff mainly ignored serving my guests through the side window, and guests ended up walking out of the function room and around to the main bar to order instead. We were told the speakers were not working to play our own music after the jazz band had left, but the microphone was still working.... I have never experienced service from pub staff who were so short and unfriendly with customers and I did not see a smile on any of their faces the whole night. I am lucky that we had a fantastic group of guests and a jazz band to enjoy my mother's 60th, because the Diddy's staff did not heighten the birthday celebrations whatsoever. Perhaps it would be okay if someone wanted no input or help from any of the staff members for an event and just needed a room with very limited prior planning required.

Great venue, the kids loved it. But I have to say, the Asian lady (head chef?) was extremely rude when serving me. She slammed the till and threw the money on the counter. She should not be serving customers.

The Diddy is a good place with delicious food, but the food isn't open until late and the service could be better. The outside parts of The Diddy are very good because it offers lots of space for kids to run around and play. It is very much a good place to go.

I've been to the Diddy twice now in 5 months and on both occasions my steak was way overcooked. It's a shame as it's a nice venue however if you cannot get a simple steak cooked correctly, what's the point? Find a chef who knows cooking 101 and this place would be a lot better.

Had a wonderful mother's day with my daughter son in law and grandson. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere certainly family friendly,. Would certainly recommend this club.

I love this place, low key, casual and spacious. The food is expensive but all of the pubs in lane cove are expensive for average food. If the beer selection were better I'd give it 5 stars.

Loads of space for the kids to run around and play while the grown ups enjoy a beverage. Friendly staff, decent food, usually some nice live music and good vibes all-round

2 stars given due to mis advertising of the venue. We went there for a barefoot bowling day with about 14 people for a farewell. It's absolutely not a barefoot bowls place nor should it be advertised as one. The greens are rough & chomped up dirt in places. Kids every where more like a playground would be better advertised as children running all over it & even a soccer & cricket game being held while we were trying to play. Come on guys, advertise it as a little kids party house as that's what it is. With extremely exorbitant drink prices we didn't understand why, even $10 for a jug of fizzy water. When we arrived in our supposedly adult get together area, we had a 2 year olds party next to us & they were running around our feet. The staff are friendly so that was nice, food was also good. We did enjoy ourselves due to our own company & well where else were we supposed to go as we'd booked & driven there on the advertisement of it being a bare foot balls club. So is you want to spend the afternoon in a kindy party then it'll suit your requirements.

Average to say the least, it just hits the spot in LC for big groups. That would be about its only decent selling point. oh and the pizzas, there quite decent. Generally however, the food is over priced, i mean $11 for a bowl of chips, c'mon, really? and the drinks wow, they're are well over priced.
No one takes care of the lawns anymore so its more bouncy bowls than barefoot bowls. Sports club my a#$!. a bit of rugby memorabilia in a showcase near the front door doesn't make it a sports club.

Have eaten here several times now and the only thing that's been decent are the pizzas. Charcuterie board was terrible, dry cheese, processed ham, very old prosciutto. The schnitzel is Frozen schnitzel, pastas are very salty. It's a shame because it's such a great venue for kids to run around in.

The lady wearing a cap that was taking and handing out orders at the restaurant was extremely rude, she told me to calm down when I pointed out to her that one of the meals was not what we ordered. The food was average and quite overpriced. Bar staff were lovely!

Had our daughter's first birthday party here and it was the perfect venue, food and service. Nothing was too much trouble for Tom and Malek and the rest of the staff. The space that we were sat in was very private and made us feel like we have a booked a whole separate venue. All our guests absolutely loved the food. The portion sizes were so generous too. Would absolutely recommend for any function.

We recently celebrated a milestone birthday with an afternoon of barefoot bowls with 40 family and friends. The staff at The Diddy went out of their way to make the occasion a great success. Tom looked after us well during the planning stage and Zoe and her team were fabulous on the day. I can highly recommend this venue if you are looking for a relaxed and casual venue.

The pros of the club are the ample space, lush garden outdoor and great summer vibes. It's a fun place for kids to run around, host small parties and get together for an evening drink / dinner. they have great choice of drinks the food is also quite good though the options for vegetarians are limited.

The parking is the only downside as Street side parking is very limited and can only be found at a 5-10 min walk sometimes so watch out for that

Great place, great food, great service. Had our teams Xmas party there for 18 of us, the staff did a great job getting the food together in a quick time, even tho the place was packed, hats off to them. The rain held off for lawn bowls. Would recommend this place to anyone

Went to the Diddy with my family the other day for dinner. Understandable that some waiting was expected as we didn't have a booking but luckily we found a spot not long after.
Website wasn't clear that they only have limited menu selections, so we just picked something off the board.
Overall impression is that there aren't enough seating areas indoor or outdoor. The place isn't suitable for families with young kids as rowdy crowds were almost everywhere. Profanities flying around here and there.
Food is average. No family atmosphere. Ordered chicken schnitzel with chips and salad, bland taste. Gravy is pathetic. The rest of the my family ordered burgers, average quality not worth raving about.
The kid at the reception looked like he had something better to do than being stuck at where he was.
Willing to give it another try at lunch time hoping to see some difference.
