I like the London Hotel which is one of the glorious Paddington venues which jumps out and tasted the best food that I've had in the area. I can't recommend this place enough as a place to power up before having a shop down that way

I gave The London 3 stars. For the reasons some may give it 5. I'm getting older. And while I'm still alive, and sometimes kicking. The noise of people socializing. Coupled with the music on. Can get a bit much for me sometimes. That, and finding it hard to get a table. Again. Sometimes. However. Staff are good to me. The food is fine. Not cheap. But either is Paddington RSL. So if you're up for some atmosphere. And there is a good mix of people there. Then it's not bad at all. Lastly. It's a very nice-looking pub as well.

It was a terrible experience. I don't know if it was racial discrimination or something else. I stood at the door for five minutes at 12 noon on Saturday. The waitress obviously saw me but did not guide me to my seat. I was looking forward to it, but I strongly did not recommend this restaurant with discriminatory guests.

A really nice venue with a lovely outdoor section, perfect for dinner and drinks. They have heaters so it's bearable to sit outside during winter. We visited on a Thursday and didn't realise it was steak night. On steak night the only thing you can order is steak, pizza or salad. You can't order off the regular menu. We had a couple of people in our group with dietary requirements and the staff kindly let them order off the kids menu. I'm keen to go back not on steak night and try other items from the regular menu.

Charming venue. However, we were standing waiting around for service, placed at a terrible table right near a walkway despite booking far in advance, spoken to rudely by staff when trying to order food despite not knowing the kitchen opens at 5pm (our booking was at 4:45pm), had staff almost run into us walking passed us and had a drink taken away when it wasn't even finished. On top of this, the food was essentially a frozen meal, Coles sausages averagely cooked and chucked down onto our table. We were really looking forward to coming here after all of the reviews. Please fix your customer service.

The London has really rested on their laurels. The place is in dire need of a decent manager who actually cares about hospitality. I've been several times over the past year and every time it's been substandard. The first time they forgot our booking. The second time the food (steak) was tough and low quality. Topped up by the fact there was no alcoholic ginger beer available which practically every pub has now. Time for a refresh I'd say!

The best atmosphere of any pub in paddington offering great food and drink. Perfect for pre/post game drinks before a short stroll to Moore Park and the staff are all very friendly. Definitely recommend.

Staff nice, wine good but THE WORST burger in sydney ... 'wagyu beef burger' overcooked and spent the meal picking out gristle and all sorts of non minced items. Awful.

Almost forgot to mention - $24 too... so it's not as though they prepare you for a shocker

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The London and I must say, the experience was made even better by the fantastic service provided by the blonde curly haired moustached young man behind the bar. From the moment we walked in, he greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home.
What impressed me the most about this young man was his ability to multitask and still provide excellent service to all the patrons at the bar. Despite being busy, he never let his energy or enthusiasm drop, and it was clear that he genuinely enjoys his job.
Overall, we had a great time at The London, and a big part of that was thanks to the outstanding service provided by this young man. I highly recommend him and The London to anyone looking for a fantastic bar experience and their Sunday roast was excellent too.

Whoops. Thought I was reviewing the London Hotel in Balmain, which is a classic worthy of 5-stars. Needed to edit this. I expected better from the London in Paddington. The pizzas were really disappointing, after a mate recommended them. Said they used to be great years ago. Not sure what happened. Plenty of five-heads to go around, but that comes with the territory.

Spicy Scorpion Pizza was very good. My friends got the Chicken Snitzel which they also enjoyed.

Ambitiously priced, uninspired pub grub.

Calamari (6/10): Well cooked and nicely flavoured by the mint, garlic and chilli however it came out cold. The sauce was so bland I couldn't tell what's in it.

Chicken Parmigiana (6.5/10): Off to a bad start before I picked up my fork as it could have used some garnish for presentation as you can see from the photo. Decent parmi but the napolitana sauce lacked flavour. Chips and salad were nice.

Overall underwhelming dishes which weren't worth the price.

What happened? Who hurt you??

I used to live for these pizzas. Once upon a time they were rectangular, perfectly cooked and wonderfully flavoured. My god. What I received today was an circular frisbee my dog wouldn't chase after had it been thrown across a park on a gorgeous summers day. The base; unrisen and stiff, not unlike a McCains frozen pizza with one of those red "reduced to clear" stickers on it. This place used to be home - you've destroyed my hopes and dreams of great pizza. What makes this worse, today I brought friends with me, proud, to introduce them to great pizza.

What ever happened to the rectangular flatbread that made this place so good? Let the yeast do it's job.

The only thing that made tonight palatable was that we'd found an excellent parking spot on Oxford street - amazing.

Was pretty good vibe though was disappointed with the food. Tried the parmi, chips and pizza and all were definitely not worth the cost. I'd recommend you eat before you go for a few drinks.

Staff are friendly and has a nice atmosphere inside, however food isn't so good. Ordered a ham and pineapple pizza and it was flavourless, and pretty pricy for $23. Should definitely go back to the old recipe square pizzas, those used to be delicious..

Staff are wonderful, and food was tasty, but the pub is absolutely filthy.

Eg. The tables and upholstery seating in the dining area soiled and old. There was poo on the women's bathroom walls and toilet paper dispenser and it wasn't fresh poo either. To the staffs credit, a lovely chap cleaned it as soon as I made them aware. The women's bathroom (left) sink has been falling from the wall for a really long time (I remember it being loose 2017-2019), and it has mould growing in the basin, so there's no way it's been cleaned in a very long time.

I would have given 5 stars for the lovely staff and the tasty food, but after I discovered how filthy the place is I felt sick when I left. I am a decades long local and was a frequent visitor before Covid 2020. Not sure I'll be back unless you guys give the place a good clean first ?

This restaurant is not clean. Cutlery, tables and water jugs I felt were not dirty/cleaned properly. I ordered a salad and added chicken. This chicken smelt awful and made me feel sick after. They still get 2 stars, as my groups other meals looked okay. I would not go back.

Solid pub. Restaurant at back can get loud as it echoes a bit. Don't need a booking. Can also dine in the front bar. Typical pub food. Great location just near Oxford St.

Good ol' fashioned pub that is dog friendly. Good feeds and friendly staff.
.
Edit: I don't think any Sydney pubs do the whole dog thing any more. If they do, they make you sit somewhere un-welcoming

Better than average pub food, a good range of beers. A great place to meet before sporting events at Moore Park.

We've been going to The London for more than 25 years (even remember when it had the cheap and cheerful Italian out the back!) & it's been one of our absolute fave pubs in the area. Yesterday's lunch was without doubt the worst meal we've ever had there.... possibly the worst pub meal ever, anywhere. Stone cold fries and fish with batter that was so chewy and soft you'd think they had used Clag glue instead of actual batter. How is it in an establishment like this, Chef doesn't appear to have a fundamental understanding of how hot the oil needs to be so the end result doesn't more closely resemble a soggy sponge than an actual piece of fried fish. It was basically inedible. You'd also think, when the staff member came to remove two plates with food only half eaten might ask if there was a problem but staff generally seemed completely disinterested and unmotivated. Not helped by one of them seeming to not have even a rudimentary knowledge of what beer they have on tap. Management is obviously doing something fundamentally wrong that the food has gone off so monumentally and staff are so unengaged. We are so lucky to live in an area where there is probably a dozen or so pubs in direct competition with the London. So natural selection will probably do its job as I'm sure others will have similar experiences and come to the same conclusion as us - won't be going back anytime soon.

Nice venue, but staff really need training. They're all miserable, don't know how to make cocktails (I was literally embarrassed for them given what they were doing), they have some bizarre food ordering rules which make you want to go elsewhere, and yes you're being environmentally friendly by having wine on tap, but you should still care what this tastes like - FYI it's pretty horrific. Great venue, but they need to invest in staff training.

Only one street back from the busy Oxford St, the London continues to be one of the pubs in Paddington. Great food, including pizzas, steaks and burgers.. wine now on tap as a sustainable option instead of waste of glass, and also expect crowds in for major sporting events with plenty of TVs situated around the venue.
