We attended an event on Sunday and had the most wonderful time! Amazing atmosphere and the staff go above and beyond. A big shout out to Corey who was so friendly and ran around all day keeping everything moving. We are absolutely coming back!

I had a couple of questions about an upcoming gig and Rory (the General Manager) was really chill and pleasant about answering all of them.

When my partner (who's a wheelchair user) and I went down last Friday, the staff were extremely professional and accommodating.

Had a couple of drinks, played some pool, walked back home, brilliant night.

The bartender was great at explaining the drinks available too, she was great at giving us a measured opinion on what we might like.

This is the most terrible hostel I have ever seen. I thought things couldn't get any worse. Noisy. Not many people live in this hostel, since there are only 12 rooms. But they walk here every day, in the common area, they drink and smoke. And this, apparently, is welcomed by the leadership. Below the hostel there is a bar where noisy parties take place almost every day. Music plays until the morning. The strong bass of the music makes the whole room vibrate. You won't be able to fall asleep before 5 am. Therefore, you can't count on a special vacation. There are also large rats that walk on the roof where everyone eats. The kitchen is small, there are always a lot of people there, or someone sits and eats there, so it's difficult to cook anything, although there is a large room with tables. Dirty, dishes are always dirty. There is someone else's food on the floor, apparently knocked over during parties. Nobody cares about other people's things; they take them without asking and break them. Also, the hostel apparently has a special attitude towards some guests. Since upon check-in they leave gifts, but not for everyone. Showers are dirty, toilets too. There is a lot of water and hair in the shower stalls.
What idiot came up with the idea to build a hostel over a bar? He should be given a prize for the most moronic discovery.
They also ask you to leave a good review ? NO!

Do not book a room here - unless you like drum & bass from downstairs turned up so loud your bed is shaking. This went on until 5am - zero warning that it'd be happening. Sleep is impossible, which renders renting a room pretty redundant. I'm sure people will crow on about "what were you expecting" but the fact is if you're renting out rooms in a building you should probably let the customers know they won't be sleeping. I haven't even mentioned the cockroaches.

I actually haven't ever been in - but I arrived at about 3 am last night hoping to meet mates there for a party going till 5.

Unfortunately, it was a rainy night and not very busy out - as a result, the event was being wrapped up and only had 10 minutes left on the clock.

The seccies were EXTREMELY respectful and friendly. They were apologetic and explained the situation clearly. They gave recommendations for nearby venues (which turned out brilliantly).

They were a credit to the venue and if that sets the vibe for what it's like inside, then I'm very keen to try this place out properly ASAP.

My recent experience at The Landsdowne has left me quite disappointed and uncomfortable due to the behaviour of the security staff as well as the manager. My friends and I visited for PICNIC party on the 29/07 and unfortunately, the way we were treated by the security team was far from acceptable.

Firstly, the security team exhibited an unnecessary level of aggression that made us feel unsafe and unwelcome. Their tone and demeanor were both alarming and unnecessary, and it completely marred what should have been an enjoyable night out.

What's worse, the incident escalated when we were accused of breaking into the smoking area, despite the absence of any closure signage. This accusation was not only baseless, but it was delivered with an alarming level of aggression and gaslighting.

When we tried to address the situation with the manager, hoping for some understanding and clarity, we were met with further gaslighting and hostility. Instead of listening, addressing our concerns and apologising, the manager took it personally and dismissed our perspective.

As patrons, we deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of the situation. I hope the Landsdowne takes this feedback seriously and reevaluates the behaviour and training of their staff. The success of any establishment hinges on its ability to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons, and this incident fell short of that expectation.

Upstairs is always mixed so nicely for live music. An icon for the Sydney scene. Losing the real grunge it used to have, but people change, what can you do?

Landy is back and the burgers are honestly some of the best in Sydney. The meatball sandwich is delicious too but the burgers are next level yummy. Great spot for a Friday for lunch too. Staff were friendly, fast, its not too busy but still has a great vibe.

Ordered delivery from them but felt they deserved a review because this has to be the best pub grub i've gotten, that stayed good even after delivery time had lapsed! Their burger and reuben are solid choices, and even their criss-cut fries were perfectly seasoned and textured. A much better burger and sandwich than even many places that specialise in burgers or sandwiches.

Although I can't personally vouch for that I recall some top metal bands playing here in the 80's , 90's & ever since.
Yes it's a well placed location at Chippendale & a stone's throw from bus stops that head in every direction .

Not sure why this place has poor reviews. It's a grand spot an we had no complaints. Place is basically full automated so we didn't meet a single staff member. Rooms were clean and had good Air-con. We booked late but all three of us were still put in the same room. Will be back for any future Sydney adventures

The Lansdowne has become my favourite local pub lately! I have lived in Chippendale for years and had no idea it had a rooftop until I saw a poster near my house, and I went up over the weekend and it was the most beautiful spot!! So sunny and breezy, and there's a really good happy hour too!! Highly recommend the rooftop and the Lansdowne in general ??

I just went to the bar of Lansdowne for a free beer that the hostel were I was staying gift me with a voucher and then I will back for sleeping. But surprisingly I found a super cool bar with great music and live bands in the first floor. So I stayed more time here, and saw two local bands that I have no idea of them because I'm new in this city but I really like their music. For me is awsome to find places like this bar when the rock & roll lives :)

Service was just so bad, we sat at the rooftop and couldn't believe how little the staff wanted to do. We wanted some wine but was told to go downstairs and see if they had it, we then asked if they could check and was given huge attitude. As someone who has worked as a bartender for 5 years the service was just so poor, truly hate leaving reviews but wow I was shocked considering they just re- did their rooftop. The prices also don't match the menu and then was told they could do nothing about it and we we're charged charged extra for the bottle of wine cause they charged me for 4 wine glasses.

Paid 9 dollar for the worst poured beer ever, flat. 2 of same drinks tasted different then no toilet paper.

I was (un) lucky enough to lose my card wallet at The Lansdowne almost two weeks ago. It had my credit cards, drivers licence and Medicare card inside. But why don't I recommend this pub? Not because I lost my wallet (as it's not their fault) but despite emailing their lost property contact email twice in hope that someone had found and handed the wallet in, the pub did not have the courtesy to reply or even simply acknowledge my email. Knowing anyone that loses their personal items would have been feeling highly anxious, a short reply would have helped give me some certainty in the situation whether to replace my lost items (or not). What a disappointing experience...I definitely would NOT recommend a night out here, and if after reading this poor service review you still choose to go to this venue, don't say you haven't been warned about how much they care about their customers!

Love this venue. Always happy to go out and support local artists. Downside very understaffed. slow waiting times at the bar lack of knowledge of drinks. NOBODY collecting all the empty glasses piled up everywhere. I'm glad this iconic place as not been turned into units.

Super busy on weekend nights but a great love set available as well and an interior smokers room with comfortable seating rather than being stuck out in the cold. Definitely a staple of the local inner city scene without having to travel to central.

Love the Landsdowne, has some incredible atmosphere especially the rooftop. Mary's burgers are very tasty and reasonably priced. Chips then dipping into the mash and gravy is a big recommendation. Price for jugs too, makes sunset even better. Heaters on the rooftop for cold nights.

The Lansdowne is awesome! Always supporting live music and small acts. It's very grungy but in a good way I think. The roof top is really nice too!

Manager on shift was incredibly rude. No one told us the bar was closing, then she came out and said in the rudest tone possible, "Everyone who's been sitting her for the past 20 minutes, the bar's closed, so if you wanna start heading out." She was the antithesis of good customer service, and in conjunction with Mary's appalling record of contempt for young people, this was another reason to not return to a once-great venue.

The bartender refused cash (which is fine) but insulted my friend for making a comment about it and was entirely disrespectful.

Definitely won't be back here and will let anybody know who asks to not visit also.

I would suggest to the business that they should teach bartenders to respect paying customers and not insult them for wishing to pay via cash.

The PA or sound upstairs brilliant. The pole dance feature puts this pub ahead of it's time.

I love marys and the boys did a great job in bringing the same vibe across here too! I have to admit, I love the rooftop bar part, such a great addition but a bit of a pain to find and or get too! Burgers are great as always!

Poor management, incompetent security, expensive food. Dont bother!A thin layer of hipster trappings cant cover up poor management. Ive had nothing but bad experiences since the Lansdowne re-opened - Ive paid for tickets to events only to arrive at the venue and find it is at capacity, every interaction Ive had with their security has been unpleasant at best, and bullying at worst, Ive been at packed events where they have closed off sections of the venue, causing crushes in thoroughfares, with staff watching on and doing nothing while conflict escalated.Steer clear, you deserve better.

The food here is awesome! Mary's pizza/roof top are so good! Also one of my favourite music venues in Sydney. The staff are always friendly and professional.

Awesome vibe but YOU NEED TO STOP SERVING FLAT DRINKS?? Why do you think this is acceptable when we are paying $10+ for soda vodkas? Get it together.
