Food only review.
Restaurant at this lovely old pub/hotel, a haven for bushrangers to plunder fat cats en route and return to the coast from Canberra. Locals can't afford this surely, as was the case when three retirees dropped in for lunch. The dining area was delightful, however the million dollar menu was beyond my means and value for money instincts.

Great feed, but you need to book if you plan to ear after 6 pm. Prices are on par with other pubs, however, the decore is better than your average pub.

Had a fabulous truffle dinner here. On a regular basis this venue has really picked up it's game. Good local wines and great food that allows for options for vegetarian and other dietary requirements. I did not stay so cannot comment on rooms.

It has been a long while since we have been to 'the George'. As locals this use to be a regular for us until the prices skyrocketed and the service went down the drain. Thought we would give them another try after a couple of years........ prices still very high but the food is always good. What is not acceptable is when you order very specifically and don't get what u ask for. Politely remind them what you ordered and they never rectify the issue. Not even and explanation or apology. The waitress just ignored the request and blew it off when mentioned as we paid for our $200 + meal!!

So we will never be going here again. They stuffed up an order and made us pay for it. Extremely expensive for very ordinary food. Nothing special about it. $25 for an entree and the mains were unbelievably expensive. There are better places to eat than here. Never again.

The chilli garlic prawns are jam packed with flavour ! Had the chicken tandoori on special - delicious. Super elevated pub food.

Well what can I say. 96 dollars for lunch. Meals and a couple of drinks. Music is too loud for us old farts BUT.......the best indian we have ever had. Heat factor was perfect. Taste was perfect. Quantity was perfect. If we are down this way again we will gladly spend 96 dollars for lunch again. Thank you.

It took 1.5 hrs for our guests to get their 1 and only course. The same dishes kept parading past the table to other customers that arrived 1 hour after us even after complaining about the length of wait to that point. Slack and no real apology. The food quality is just okay, but the prices for pub food are outrageous. The LG has really gone downhill over the past 10 years.

I recently held my 40th Birthday function for 50 guests. Aman, Ness and the team did such a fantastic job making sure all our requests were met and the night went smoothly. All the guests had a fabulous time and enjoyed their delicious meals. Thanks Lake George for making my night so special.

Good food, great beer and friendly service in the bar.

Had dinner at the Lake George. Food was great. However take note there are different menus between the bar and the restaurant. If we had of known would have just had the bar menu as the chicken wings are awesome!!

Food is good but servings are small .and prices are seriously over the top .. dearer then most Sydney venues

Great doesn't come for free though. Little exxy. But we love sitting by the fire.

The food is delicious but a bit at the upper end of the price range. However the pub classics are available for the thrifty dinner. Beer and wine selection is exceptional, with some tasty cocktails for those inclined. The dinning area is beautiful with a fireplace and Chesterfields to enjoy a cheese platter

Very cosy hotel with an extensive menu. I had the lamb shanks which were amazingly tender. There is a kids playground outside but they need to be rugged up in winter. You can see the playground from inside which is great. Recommended.

Tried the special truffle menu and the food was bland and very small servings. Long wait for mains and dessert and the staff were pleasant but not very attentive. On the plus side, the room was cosy and the fire was lovely.

Awesome food and friendly staff. Had the rump steak and it is Superb and value for money. Would definitely come back again for the food.

Great food thought quite $$$. Staff are friendly. Plenty of GF options. Nice clean playground and grass area for the children.

A beautifully renovated and furnished gastropub, with a long history in the high country, our meals were delicious and service was professional and relaxed, all-in-all made for a lovely dining experience.
Would recommend 10/10!

A good place to stay and eat in Bungendore. If you're planning a cycle trip choose later in the week when the bistro is open.

Another great night at the Lake George Hotel. Great food and wonderful staff who always make you feel welcome.
Ness is a gem.

Friendly service as soon as we walked in. The only downside was they had no steaks left "due to covid" and it took over an hour to get our meals, but we were won over by the standard of service. Large portions, good value for money.

Stayed at Lake George Hotel for 2 nights. The price was very affordable. The room was great, it was very clean and had everything we needed. All the staff were amazing and nothing was too much for them. The meals were excellent. We had the chicken parmy. It was the best ever. Have never tasted anything like it & probably will never again. Highly recommended. The salt & pepper squid was amazing also. Cannot recommend the George enough. Will definitely be going back for the live music ??'?

Dinner in the hotel restaurant was wonderful. Great log fire for atmosphere, well prepared and delicious food, friendly staff .

This is the place to stay in Bungendore, hands down! The staff are ultra attentive, the rooms clean with cosy mattresses and reverse cycle air con. Friendly locals and affordable pricing all around.

The restaurant is a hidden gem and a must-do while in town. There is a generous fireplace, a full bar, and mulled wine in winter. Absolutely the best chicken parmesan and salt & pepper squid I've ever had!

The most accommodating hotel and pub in Bungendore! Kudos!

Food and service is great. However the new restaurant manager is rude and clearly has somewhere else he would rather be. A real shame as many of our party felt the same and this brought our experience down

No complaints about cleanliness, decor or standard of food. However, it was obviously understaffed for the crowd that was in on this Sunday night. Girls waiting and behind the bar short-staffed. 1 HR wait for mains, 1 of which was cauliflower soup for God's sake;not good enough. Maybe manager should come in and help out. Tip for future - order drinks separately to your food order.

Meal was very nice and I would say that the side dish of garlic sauce for the schnitty needs to be promoted more than the plain old gravy. Compliments to Brooke who was a trainee waitress... her first night on the job. Did an exceptional job.

I had been attending the Country Rocks Festival and even though the Lake George Hotel PROMOTED ON ITS WEBSITE, that a 10% discount on meals would be given for attendees to the festival - neither the head waitress nor the Manager for the evening (name Winter) knew nothing about the offered discount. Suggest that the staff are kept up to date on discounts offered in the future. I had to stand around for 5-10 minutes whilst the staff contacted the Hotel Manager for permission to apply the discount even though it was displayed on the website. I received the discount.

Very good food but wait in between ordering, the starter and main was too long. Tried to order a dessert but gave up after 10 minutes and went to the bar to pay. Ashame as food and ambiance was good. Also a great collection of local wines at a reasonable price. Will definitely come back to retry. Fingers crossed.

Lunch in the restaurant. Service was great. Beer was cold.

Ordered the eye fillet ($42). The steak was overdone, tough and chewy with fair bit of gristle.

I understand you can get a bad cut every now and then, but
That's a Tuesday $20 steak night thing at the local, not a $42 eye fillet at a restaurant.

I'm really disappointed and can't really afford to go back. I went to the pie shop next door and got an amazing pie one tenth of the price and felt a little better.

Airways have had good service here. Beer is icy cold.Outdoor area in the restaurant is great for the kids with the playground.Really nice food as well.

As always it never disappoints. Lovely atmosphere, meals are awesome & beer is super cold.Bar snacks are very filling. We ordered loaded fries & beef nachos. Only 2 of us but it would of fed 3. Yummo

The pub is very nice however the prices are outside my budget.

We had a really nice lunch here over the weekend. The staff are polite & helpful. The menu is great with many options & there is a decent wine list to match. The venue itself appears to have been refurbished recently and there is a great indoor fireplace at the centre of the room which not only keeps you warm, it smells amazing! Definitely recommend.
