Last night I came and watched my favourite band perform live, Nuclear Love Antenna and they had the whole place groovin'?
Always a blast hearing them and I had fun listening and dancing along to the other musicians as well.

Intimating security. Especially to people of colour. I myself got drilled on the door and was lucky to get in having not one drink. Once I got up the pool room. There were some British backpackers clearly drunk arguing with each other and anyone in range. Security walked past and couldn't care less. There was a band playing downstairs and there was no floor space to watch them. Someone needs to tell management it's 2023 not 1983. Don't waste your night going there.

Gotta say of all the pubs in newtown, Kelly's is the absolute best.

Had a great time here in a Monday night. The food was good and at an excellent price. Great value!! They had uber cool 80's music videos and free pool as well which made the night so much fun!!

Was at Kelly's with a small group of friends before an event down the street. Had some food and drinks - fries and sweet potato chips were excellent. The bar staff went above and beyond to rectify a problem that was absolutely not their fault, and that they really had no obligation to assist with, to their absolute credit. Would happily return!

Honestly my go-to place in Newtown when I need a beer and feel like dancing a bit. It doesn't get overcrowded, staff are very nice.

It's one of those places where you and your friends keep coming back to. Nice chill vibe, music you can relate to. Inexpensive drinks.

Plus there are pool tables upstairs!

This place is really nice yum cha. Old school ninities surbuban Chinese restaurant vibe. Everything tasted great. Tip : keep an eye of what you order from the carts, the food is good so you might order more...and the bill might be higher. Reccomended.

I've had the opportunity to go to Kelly's once and from first impressions it feel congested and tight, although it may have a cool aesthetic look it seems somewhat dull. The atmosphere is okay.

Kelly's is a terrible bar I have been twice and been refused once for my outfit and once for my attitude it is terrible
Bar with terrible security as they don't care about what your age is just what you are wearing.

One of my favourite bars to go, always had friendly interactions with the staff and it's always nice they remember your drinks, however what I find most comforting is how the guards interact with patrons, as a manager of a bar myself I believe it important to build a good rapport with people, it's nice to see the guards aren't stiff mindless robots, but actually humans that want to make sure you feel safe and comfortable in the venue, always love seeing everyone, be sure to see you all again soon

Came here for a few drinks. The happy hour has good discounts on jugs etc. However, the attitude of the staff at the upstairs bar was a bit lame. My friend was asking a question and the bartender couldn't understand his accent. In saying that, I understand that sometimes it is difficult to understand non-native speakers but come on.. Please don't make an annoyed face repeatedly saying 'Huh?what??'. Sydney is extremely multicultural and a little effort goes a long way. Another thing was that we put money in one of the gaming machines and after we couldn't get it to work, I asked at the bar. The guy shrugged his shoulders and said 'Ah..yeah... I think it's broken'. How about putting a sign up? I asked if they are able to get the $3 out for us, as we could use it instead to play pool. He said yes but after 10 min of waiting, they still didn't come and avoided eye contact and no, there weren't many customers at the bar. Yes, it might be annoying to get money out of the machine but then simply indicate it's broken. Overall lazy staff attitude and probably wouldn't bother returning.

Do NOT recommend any longer, been coming here for awhile and tonight (Sat 18th March), your security is appalling - refused entry and accused a female friend of consuming alcohol while outside the bar.
It was a soft drink, we were civil, sober, not rowdy nor causing any nuisance, and he flat out refused entry no matter what. We walked past later and he threatened to call the police because she said hello.
Ruined a good night out, absolutely disgusting treatment of paying patrons

Great pub. Live music, pool tables, arcade games and plenty of space. Security company are all top blokes and super friendly. Hot tip, If it's raining just make sure you you stand to the right of the urinals into they get that leak fixed.

I cannot recommend Kelly's on king enough. As a group of young women going out on king st it is incredibly comforting knowing security are here to help us and look out for us. Leroy, Eroy and Cameron not only made us feel safe and comfortable but made sure everyone was having an incredible time and things were running smoothly. These men are the best security we have encountered and should be recognised as so. We will definitely be back to Kelly's on king.

The layout of this pub can be described as the inner workings of a giant's intestines if they were stuffed into a terraced house.
The downstairs area has a mix of Olive green walls and stained wood furniture. As if the intestines were digesting pea soup and trees.
Upstairs has a bar area, a staged area for live shows and an outside area for smokers and Nicole Kidman lookalikes.
If you look pass the updated scenery you can almost hear the walls speak of their aging past. Like an vintage motorcar, it wishes to engulf the patron with it's rich history and dementia soaked class.
The food is highly edible. Laden with a fabulous smell associated with good fresh ingredients prepared in a cozy yet clean and organized kitchen. Martha Stewart would be proud as punch.
I've had my heart broken in this place recently. A crush which lasted three years destroyed in last than three seconds. Not sure how this might effect the star rating. The staff didn't know how to react to a grown man crying into his beer. As a result my IPA had a salty aftertaste.

Went in today and was greeted aggressively by the bartender for no reason. I work in hospitality and am aware of covid restrictions but would have happily listened and obliged what was needed if not for all the hostility. Literally just wanted to know if the pool table upstairs was free before signing in and grabbing drinks. Wont be going back!!

A solid Irish pub, lots of renovations since I last visited but I like that they are changing it up. The staff are all lovely, especially that Cameron guy, very helpful. Would go back many times, great for live music too.

Made me pay $20 for a cocktail that was supposed to be on $9 happy hour ? I literally asked about the $9 cocktails and then ordered one on the list and they were like that was actually a $20 one that was on the listJust be careful!

Kicked us out TWICE from SMOKING AREA because we were smoking "too much" and the smoke was going inside the rest of the pub. Then what is a smoking area for?

Other than that, food and alchol were good.
