One of Sydney's best pubs! The cabaret / drag show was brilliant - I loved Gaffy and also DJ Aaron Manhattan - fantastic. More like an English pub but also unusual and Australian in several ways - go discover it for yourself!

One of the best pubs in Sydney. Had a birthday party there in March 2024 and they were great. The manager Jennifer goes out of her way to make sure everything runs smoothly, staff were great and the location is too.

Great memorabilia on the walls. Carpet on the floor was uneven - new carpet on top of old, and taped around the edges? A trip hazard.

Good music on Saturday night, but they turned the treble way down.

I ADORÉ this pub, one of my favs. It has it all. It's great for a night out and one of the last few old school pubs in Sydney. Very much recommend for a frothie or two with mates after work or on the weekend. Really great gig spot too. Everyone needs to go here at least once.

This pub charges $15 for one glass of average white wine. I went to four pubs in Surry Hills on the weekend and no other place charged close to this very expensive price. I bought a bottle of wine there also to try and reduce this price gouging only to be told that the wine on their own wine list was not in stock and I had to buy a more expensive label. This small bar is not worth the money with so many better options close by.

An excellent secluded pub for those after a more local-feel away just a walk away from the hustle of CBD and Surry Hills centre. Ben, Em and the team were very prompt in arranging an outdoor booking with perfect space! Free gigs that run frequently are also worth going for those staying back late.

Great location and vibe. The owner is super friendly and generous.
Unfortunately, some of the staff members were pushy. The girl picking up the glasses tried to take away my full drink. I made it very clear that I wasn't going to allow it. Her reply "I'm doing my job" was a joke.
Go a have fun... But keep an eye on your drinks!

Security guy needs to be friendlier and the DJ is super jaded.
And the bar woman was clearing our drinks away and they were still full!!!
We had to say "hey they're still full".

What a shame

We had a blast playing here last Saturday for a 40th birthday party! Everything went smoothly and everyone enjoyed the night. We'd like to thank Greta, Ben and the whole team for assisting us! Looking forward to be back here!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would.

We booked our wedding at the Hollywood Hotel and honestly we couldn't have picked a better place.

Ben and his team went above and beyond to make our day so special. Ben is a superstar and runs the venue like a well oiled machine. His staff are positive, friendly, and kept totally calm even when under the the pump.

I can't recommend this place enough if you are thinking of having a private party. Even if you are just in Surry Hills and you want a quiet drink or you want to attend a live gig.

This is a Sydney institution and in my opinion is the real heart and soul of the city.

Thanks again Ben and the HH team. You made our wedding the best it possibly could be.

Typical bar for the area, not real flash, limited tap range, getting to the Gents is arguably an ever increasing challenge as the night progresses as one gentleman discovered. I would urge the barkeep to refrain from making Dark & Stormy's with post-mix ginger ale: ruins the experience.

Great place, great history, great staff. Been reinvented but hasn't lost its soul. Visit and watch with interest.and the urinals are numbered. Use #1

Suppose you are looking for a place with soul and more than just food and drinks. This is the place where you can find relaxed people chilling, surrounded by cool customers the young guys at the bar are always happy to do their job with a big smile. You will appreciate local beers.

Old school pub, good music. Downside was that they DON'T take cash.

One of the few iconic places left in Sydney with great tunes and an interesting history. Let's hope once its sold that the new owners feel the same way.

Best pub is Sydney by a long shot. It retains its charm like no other pub in Sydney - and not a [---] room in sight. Great music and events - great management.
