DONT order the pasta, me and my mum ordered pasta and it was so oily that we couldn't finish it. There was a puddle of oil and it left us feeling sick, however my brother ate a steak and it was great.

Food was delicious as per usual.
My mum was spoken to unkindly by the chef when she asked about having salad and vegetables with her steak instead of the pairings they had. She had to pay a further 6 dollars to get a third of a corn and a piece of broccolini. She had no worries doing so but the tone was quite aggressive and rude when she was informed of this. Despite this and the fly we enjoyed our meal. Will visit again.

Fast service, awesome food, verandah bar overlooking the road or sit at the bar and distract the bar staff lol classy venue. Definitely stop here on your way through

Been here quite a few times, exceptionally good value for money and brilliant food (and they don't Charge for extra square!) with reasonably priced drinks... to top off - staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you ?

The meals were outstanding! Absolutely generous size and mouth watering dishes. We were here on holidays and were blown away at this pub. Amazing definitely recommend.

I could not have had a better experience at a tavern. Waitress Kim couldn't have been more pleasant nor efficient than she was and the meals were delicious.
The bar staff was also very pleasant and efficient.
I will most definitely be returning.

Travelling round the Northern Rivers area spending a fair amount of time in different pubs for food and drinks, the Henry Rous Tavern was by far the best meals we've had in any pub we checked into. We ordered the BBQ ribs with chips & salad and rump steak with the same. Both meals completely exceeded our expectations, they were absolutely delicious and definitely up there amongst the best pub meals we've ever had! Compliments to the Chef! YUMO!
The dining area was sparkling clean, all the staff were friendly & attentive and the place had a great atmosphere. We will definitely be calling back into Ballina just to eat at the Rous again!

Staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks on tap were really cold, great wine selection that tasted lovely and was Food was Phenomenal! Outdoor seating was nice. Dining by myself, i was able to sit at the bar which was nice. HIGHLY RECOMMEND:D

We came here on a Sunday afternoon, it had a bit of a rough vibe going when we arrived,we played pool for many hours, towards the end we where hungry and decided to order a pasta. It was close to closing time for kitchen, the pasta it self was over cooked and the sauce was to salty and very runny sauce! Chicken was over cooked

Nice food. The Mexican schnitzel and Thai beef salad was delicious. There was a delay in our food due to staff accidently putting our order on hold but they were very apologetic and we weren't in a rush so no issues.
All in all a great experience. Fantastic food and lovely staff.

Dropped in for a quick lunch while waiting for a vehicle service. Zero expectations and never been here before. Absolutely blown away by the crispy salmon. Best meal I've had in a long time! Great friendly staff too. I'll be dragging my wife back here at the next opportunity.

Ordered a medium steak but came to us well done, not the best bartender service out here as well but the food were great! Lamb cutlets were fantastic together with mushroom gravy and diane sauce as well as the duck spring rolls and peppered squid ???'?

I would have given more stars as the food was lovely. My daughter who considers herself a bit of a schnitzel expert gave hers a 9 out of 10.
The only thing which was not so good and let the experience down was the front of house server who took our order who came across as unfriendly to say the least appeared unhappy and rude.

We popped in here while traveling through, after googling dog friendly pubs Henry Rous seemed the best choice. We were welcomed with friendly smiles. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh and hot. We sat outside on the veranda area with our dog, the heater was a nice welcome in the cold wet weather. If we're ever back in town we'll visit again.

Alright just hear me out. The kitchen staff and the meals are absolutely amazing! We were up from Melbourne for 2 weeks and ended up having dinner there 5 nights. Food was 10/10. BUT. The bar staff left us wondering. Every time we ordered 2 drinks (both specifically in SHORT GLASSES), we get 1 short and 1 tall. Every single time, I swear they were just taking the piss. Only 1 of the male staff members on the very first day we arrived was a pure gentleman and had great banter. Had a decent chat with us every time we went to the bar. Every other bartender was a miserable POS. BUT the kitchen staff and food was epic.

Nice meal. Generous portion sizes. I had the ribs and the meat was so tender it melted off the bone. The Henry Roy's Tavern is a bistro though so prepare to be handed one of those god awful buzzers that goes off at your table summoning you to collect your own meal from the kitchen.

Food is awesome! I'm so impressed with the variety and quality of the food. Absolutely no hesitation modifying menu item from battered to grilled and it was outstanding . We will be back. Also sourcing local products ( those dumplings.....) what an inspired food crew

It was a shame they claim to not accept dine & discover vouchers on Fridays or the weekend via an edited government poster. The vouchers state that all vouchers are valid any day of the week including public holidays. They're good enough to be accepted every other day of the week there. They're there to help keep local businesses afloat during these times not for profiteering by way of accepting them on the slower dining days. As a fellow local businesses owner I find this poor local ethics.

Just hopped in for a few cocktails with some minutes to spare before a pre-booked dinner at a nearby restaurant and wished we had come in earlier. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the cocktails were amazing. I really liked the well planned layout with a space for the sports fans to watch their games at one end and plenty of space inside and out for the rest of the customers. Will definitely go back for dinner next time.

My family and I ate here today and recieved a good meal and a welcoming service. One major point which sways me towards having lunch here every time is the well cooked meals and how the drinks always seem to be full of flavour.

Not so friendly staff. Guys, don't grunt and snort at customers who aren't locals when they come up to the bar. We are choosing to spend our money at your establishment, and we have access to Google reviews. Say Hello! Be friendly.

Service , well......if you are going to take my money for a beer, then please have the courtesy of putting it in front of me after I have bought it, not halfway down the bar, then walk off, leaving me to ask another staff member where my beer was. Also, acquaint your staff with the products you sell. Generally, light beer is sold in hotels, and stubbies are kept in the fridge; so, when a customer asks for a light beer, don't lead them to believe that your hotel doesn't sell light beer because its not on tap.

The Decor is very fresh, and the bar is nicely decorated, and the hotel apparently has great reviews for the food. Shame the smoke from the cigarettes in the smokers area permeated across the non smoking area of the bar, including areas where people were trying to eat their meals.

Food was very enjoyable. Great range of food on the menu.
Its a bit fancier than a pub, so if that's what you're looking for, then I would highly recommend going. They have week-night specials as well as Sundays. We went of a Saturday and they had 3 seafood specials.
I will be going back again and taking friends and family with me!!

Lovely family friendly hustle and bustle. Good choice of wines and drinks. Efficient and friendly service from the attentive staff. Recommended.

Had left a good review of the bistro here before. However just had possibly the worst meal I've ever been charged for in my life, and I've eaten in some pretty dodgy places. I was served some overcooked case hardened rubbish that was supposed to be a veal schnitzel. Totally inedible, and a comple insult to the animal that gave its meat. They weren't too interested in my comments either and simply threw the uneaten portion in the bin.This is a nice pub, good for a drink ot two, but I won't be hurrying back to dine there.1

The signature beef barbeque is overcooked. We asked for medium rare, but it came as almost well-done. The vibe of the restaurant is great, but I'm not so sure about the overall food there.

Friday special ribs and rump. The ribs are DEElicious, and my rump, cooked 'blue' as requested was spot on. You wouldn't think it'd be hard to not cook a steak, but so many places fail. This was the best 'cooked' blue steak I've had. Fat rendered, nice char, but still really blue inside. CONGRATULATIONS to the chef. Nice bean sprout salad, a pleasant change from the normal lettuce and tomato, although they were still there in smaller proportions. Chips crispy. Chicken schnitty tender and moist with a nice crumb. Friendly helpful staff.
