Conflicted writing a review.
Great food, reasonable prices and good service but....
Used the self serve menu order app because it seemed more of a novelty than walking fifty feet to order.
App worked well but AUTOMATICALLY took the liberty to charge me for a tip.
Wow.
I always thought tipping was at least optionally.
But it's certainly something that is done after the event at least.
Meal and service ended up warranting a gratuity but it's the assumption that bites.

This is a fantastic place to eat, have a relaxing drink and enjoy the view! There is no need to book a table, but I would recommend it if with a larger family group. This place does get popular at key meal times, keep your options open for your preferred dining space by arriving earlier to soak up the view and atmosphere. Plenty of places to sit throughout the Hotel (which can be hard to pick your preferred view).

Such a great place where you can get it all. The location of this place is Awesome. Then comes the services, Be it a hotel, BAR or Bistro. All is good. One can have a Nice breakfast with coffee or have drinks later on. Their staff is very courteous. You can really have a nice time here with friends and family or for any event you want to organize.

We came for a small dinner function and stayed the night. The place and views are amazing and the staff were outstanding. I would like to particularly mention Carlos who went out of his way to help me get a cup of tea and slice of cheesecake to finish off my night right!! I got up early and walked around the beaches then finished back at the hotel for a delicious breakfast. I would highly recommend this place for a getaway.

Called in for dinner and a catch up with friends.
The food was great with a good variety of choices.
Service time was quite quick and the staff helpful.
Awesome location, we got to see the sun go down.
The place was clean and tables were cleared off quickly after dinners left.
We have been here a few times and never left disappointed.

Husband stayed there recently for a week for a business trip. Check in was pretty fast & parking underground in the basement was free.
Spacious clean room with kitchen, lounge area, outdoors entertainment seating, separate toilet, bathroom & bedroom. Washing machine available if you wanted to do your laundry.
Walking distance to Little Austinmer Beach just a minute walk downhill.

On the plus side - Lots of seating and great views. Caesar salad was delicious.

Downsides - Food pricey and a bit hit and miss - three different orders of chicken parmigiana were burned and dry. Wouldn't order that or the beef burger again.

We were so impressed with the spaciousness, fittings and comfort of our deluxe studio room. Everything was perfect and of a high standard. The room was quiet, and the staff were delightful and helpful. We're already looking forward to our next stay, and will definitely make it more than one night next time. Thank you.

A short 2 night getaway for my Husband's Birthday. It was the first time visit and we will definitely be back. The accommodation was very roomy, clean and modern and a great price. The amenities were excellent. Food and atmosphere in the Bistro and Bar was great. The staff was helpful, courteous and very welcoming. The cocktails were delicious. But nothings beats sitting on those very comfortable chairs, having a morning coffee and staring at the amazing view of the sun sparkling on the ocean.

Went for lunch and what a lovely place to sit and enjoy a warm winters day. The food was very nice and there is space between tables to enjoy. You need to get in early as it was very busy but the food came out quite quickly. Will go again!!

We spent 2 nights in a modern studio apartment for my 60th Birthday sit down luncheon, held in the Ocean View South Room. The apartment was clean and tidy, however we hardly spent any time in the room. Sam the Events coordinator was fantastic from start to finish. He even worked on the day helping serve meals and ensuring all went well. I have no hesitation in recommending the venue, apartment and the actual hotel, which was spotless. My guests loved the food, venue and views. They are still raving about it. We had a perfect sunny winter weekend on the coast...looking forward to our next visit, soon. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. Keep up the great work ??'??

Absolutely stunning place. Everything in the room was so thought out for the customer and are very clean. The rooms are simply decorated in such an organic calming vibe. The view is spectacular and waking up to the beach is always a bonus. The staff are very helpful and assisted us in any enquiries in a friendly manner. The bistro was fab food and we ordered take out to take back to our rooms. We will definitely be back asap. Thank you ?

Was very fortunate to get the last room available over the long weekend and it was really great value for money, super clean, all amenities you need, very cosy and the location is unsurpassed with sweeping views up and down the coastline, a 2 minute walk down to the beach or the headland walkway is just outside the entrance to the hotel. The quality of the food was excellent, really surprising and healthy options to suit the most fussy of eaters, was delicious. I will most definitely be returning!

We booked an overnight mid week Winter escape package and stayed Monday night. The room was fine though the bathroom was showing signs of wear and tear. The view from the first floor North facing room provided some stunning sea views and was worth the price of admission.
All my negative comments are reserved for the bistro, and they seem to be in line with a great deal of the bistro reviews. Our plan was to eat out but most of the local area was closed for Monday night.
We ordered the bucket of tiger prawns and salt and pepper squid with salad sides. Both salads were dead on arrival; slimy blackened leaves and sunken tomatoes. The only salt and pepper on the industrial sized slabs of squid was applied by us. I returned the squid to the clearly disinterested Monday night kitchen staff who asserted that the salad is delivered fresh everyday. I asked for a refund and returned to my table. While I performed an autopsy on the prawn side salad the manager arrived with a refund. When I drew his attention to the pile of clearly gross salad, he stated that he was not an expert on food. I was perplexed so I asked him if he was a consumer of food and for his opinion on the state of the salad. His reply; "I'm not a picky eater". At that point I thanked him for his assistance and returned the prawns (without asking for refund).
On a side note it's a little cheap, and with very little saving to the hotel to supply breakfast with a choice of juice or coffee. Accommodation 4/5. Bistro 5/5 as a Faulty Towers attraction.

This place has stunning views and has been set up very well. We had a lunch with around 30 people on ling tables in the front section. It has sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and ocean. Parking was easy and the food was ready quickly. I ordered from the pizza section which is Woodfired and wasn't bad. You could choose to order from the standard bistro or dumplings which I'll try next time. This is worth a drive for the view alone though it can get very busy with lots of large groups and weddings so plan ahead.

Sunday Lunch. Fairly busy but not full. Ordered a starter of a cheese and pita bread and 4 main meals. Asked for starter before meals. Advised 1&1/2hr wait .That's fine.
Buzzer went off all meals and starter ready for serving. They did offer to redo mains giving time to eat starter.
Problems
No Pita Bread with Starter
No Avocado with Poke bowl
Prawn Fettuccine $30 had only 3 prawns.
Noticed another table had also sent back 2 dishes.
Not going back there again.

Went to the hotel for a friend's surprise milestone birthday in the Ocean View South Room. The room was set up beautifully, the views were spectacular, the food was sensational and plentiful. I did not eat from the buffet only from the trays that the staff bought around and it was all divine. Compliments to the chef(s). The only thing I would say was that the staff did not advice last drinks and then got slightly tetchy when asking everyone to leave and the security guard was a bit over the top

1 star is generous. After waiting more than 30mins on a promised 15min wait meal; the rest of the hens party had received their meal and eaten by the time they informed myself and one other customer that the meal we ordered could not be made; they did not have the ingredients for us AND the kitchen for the dumpling bar was closed,

They let us know they would refund us. This was their courteous offer, being offered something that you legally have to offer in manner in which it is a favour is ridiculous. This isn't the least they could do, this is the literal bare minimum.

Beautiful view, disappointing staff.

We recently got married at the Headlands Hotel Austinmer. From the moment we visited to the day of the wedding the process was just so easy and we felt so looked after. I could not recommend Teagan enough. She helped us plan and coordinate the whole thing from start to finish. She was such a pleasure to deal with and we had the most amazing wedding. We also stayed on site, the rooms are a great size and were perfect for getting ready in. The food was also amazing and it was great we got to do a tasting before the big day.

I didn't stay here as I live locally. I love this place but unfortunately the food is quite hit and miss. Dry chicken and hard potatoes tonight, with 4 beans and three half pieces of zucchini. Practically no sauce. I had the same dish two weeks ago and it was lovely. Best to go to the dumpling Van. They are consistent and lovely.

Fantastic hotel up on the Headland with amazing views right up and down the coast. Our room had a view down south and a nice patio area outside to enjoy it. Also had a great hotel attached where we all had a top meal. No need to leave the venue, it's all there. Definitely be coming back in the future.

The place is beautiful and relaxing. However, because of their QR code food ordering system nobody actually physically takes your food order. Even though all tables having unique table numbers they still bring the food and ask people around if we ordered or not. Moreover, if they don't ask, they just put random food at random tables. Due to this, we were served food we never ordered and when we pointed that out, we were asked to either pay for it or leave the hotel. One of the worst customer service experiences of my life.

Nice large rooms. A bit let down by the Brassiere Menu ordered at the table and the oysters were small & they didn't bring any cutlery. The pizza and dumplings looked fine. The Brassiere closed for cakes & coffee at 9 pm on a Friday night. Not the food experience we expected from watching Sydney Weekender.

Stoped here for lunch. First thoughts was its a bit pricey, however didn't they deliver. The price tag is quite cheap considering the meal you get, portion size is perfect, presented well and tasted like restaurant quality, well about expectations.

Location was perfect. Rooms very nice but not as clean as I like. Management not very understanding. My Specialist could not see me so, I asked if I could reschedule my second night. A straight NO was their answer. My wife and daughter both had covid so it would have been nice to get back home to them. First and last time Headlands.

We had a one night winter escape. We arrived in torrential rain which completely obscured any view. Very disappointing.
Our room wasn't ready when we arrived but we were greeted by such friendly, apologetic staff who suggested we wait in the bar and provided a free drink voucher.
This place has the best staff. Every section of this business was attended by staff who put themselves out to be so attentive and engaging. Very commendable in these desperate times of finding staff.
Our meals were great.
We had a free breakfast in our deal which was fabulous and the rain had cleared to allow us a stunning view.
The Champagne included in our deal could have been in the fridge. We would have enjoyed it on our arrival with the chocolate.
All in all a very good Winter Escape deal and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great location, spectacular views n interior set up. HOWEVER. I turned up at 11:05. Breakfast had finished at 11. Fair enough. I asked to order lunch. They said they didn't want to overload the chef. DESPITE there being no joke 7 people in the place. I pointed out that there was almost no one in the pub so the chef could hardly be over run. But still no success. Heaven help them on a Saturday or Sunday. POOR MANAGEMENT. Fancy turning away customers willing to give you their money. Not a great business model.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom penthouse east facing. The view was excellent the balcony area unfortunately was soaked from the rain the night before the outdoor furniture cushions were left to soak so we were unable to sit outside internally the two bedroom apartment was clean and spacious but there was no ensuite just one bathroom for the two rooms would recommend to stay but couldn't justify more than 500 night max. The staff were all friendly amd the food was fine the breakfast was nice also the coffee was decent. Ask for a late check out best I got was 1030 which was strange because it was a Monday night

Stunning views with good areas to enjoy the views. Good choice of drinks. Food rather disappointing. Vegetables overcooked and burnt. Thai Beef Salad meat too rare for my liking.

It was OK. It was very busy being Easter. The bistro had a 2 hour wait. They have heaps of seating and 2 food outlets that I know of. We wanted bistro food but had to have pizza which were expensive for what they were. Drinks also expensive - the northern tax in full force. I had a corona that was $11. Cokes were nearly $6?? Maybe that's the going rate.

Newish Property - Cold Dull Colorless Rooms - Great LocationYou cannot fault the location at the headland in Austinmer with stunning beaches on either side. The Bistro is lovely and there is plenty of free parking for hotel guests. The rooms however were quite bland and cold. The property is only 3 years old and still presents as newish. We had a deluxe garden view apartment which had a full kitchen and was very spacious. The walls were almost completely bare and the overall feeling was that the place badly needed an interior decorator. It was completely lacking in color. When we arrived our bedroom blind was completely broken so we could not get light or air. The staff was unable to do anything and offered zero compensation. I would say that service level was 3 star and the rooms might be slightly better but in need of some flair. Avoid the rooms that face a wall if at possible and ask to get on as high a floor as possible as these have better outlooks no matter what direction you are facing. If you get an ocean view room I would request a room facing north as this it the better aspect.

Beautiful location with stunning view from the hotel. The restaurant is at a perfect spot and the food is delicious as well. The beach is just 2 minutes walk away. A perfect place for a day trip or a weekend getaway for people of all ages. The pricing is reasonable too during off peak season but can get too high during long weekends and peak seasons.

Headwinds Hotel is set in a great location with water views and extensive indoor and outdoor seating. There is good bistro style menu with a well stocked bar serving all types of drinks including cocktails. There is some covered parking below on street level and the venue can be entered via a lift for the disabled . A good choice for any occasion. There is also hotel accommodation but I haven't stayed there though it looks very nice.

Better sell a kidney before frequenting this place. Great location, beautiful view but lord almighty get ready for a gouging. Got 2 soda waters and a coke $14.10! seriously? Two glasses or water and some sugar water for the best part of a lobster! Don't get me started on the restaurant priced pub menu...

Are there 2 restaurants? I think the positive food reviews on here were for a different time place and cosmos. We had a burger and pumpkin salad. The burger is guaranteed to be straight from the freezer. The bun tasted like a MacDonald's reject ( yes sadly I know what Macca's tastes like). The salad (lettuce leaves) was tossed (smeared) in a non descript white sauce of questionable heritage with chewy sundried tomatoes (whole) and burnt pumpkin all for the princely sum of $45.
