What top notch service and food. We stayed here for the night and the rooms were super clean. The location and views are just amazing. The people working at the joint are so nice.

Enjoyed a beer and river view- and the food was well worth it!

We are 6 plus regular fisherman who visit your hotel 5 or 6 times every year. We have been doing so for over 20 years. In the main during this time we have found the beer , food and staff to be exceptional.
However upon a recent visit we had issues with the food service and some staff. The beer remained good as always.
Firstly we found the Thai Beef salad to only have 5 slices of beef and grissly. Similarly one had salt and pepper squid , with minimal squid.
However what tipped us over the top was that one of our group had ordered the curry only to be told when we chased up the meals which had taken over 45 minutes that there was no curry. It appeared that our order was lost and had to be found and started again and would take a further 10 minutes. But no curry. Attitude to this was unacceptable as our friend had to reorder, after almost an hour. Our friend was quite upset and could not control himself which is no excuse however he was pushed over the edge by the constant ordinary service to say the least. He was so upset he did not order another meal.
It would appear that this hotel has gone down hill since changing hands, trying to be fancy and forgetting the normal person who is only looking for good food , service and beer.
You have now left us with no choice but to seek some where else where we are welcome with open hands.

Fabulous place to stop. Firstly we could charge our car whilst having a delicious meal and drink. Staff were friendly, place was clean and it is in a nice location. Even if I did not have to charge my car I would still choose to stop here.

The beer was great, company was awesome.

Service was ordinary from the restaurant, ordered ours third from the table of 6 orders and I had to go and find it after the others at our tables had finished theirs, Not acceptable!

Older bartender seemed stressed and didn't look like he wanted to be there.

What a disappointment!
No EFTPOS, ATM on site not working, cash only. We understand technical issues happen. However, when it comes to meals, if the menu declares oysters and whiting fillets in the Fisho meal, then it should have them. Their explanation was, sorry no oysters so we gave you more whiting. The fish they called whiting, was box fish that was worse than a "Fish Finger".
No discount for missing expensive seafood, or even a sign Sorry No Seafood! What a disgrace!

Meal at the pub. I usually enjoy the meals at the pub. Last night i ordered my usual chicken schnitzel with avocado and bacon. It was awful!!!! Processed bitter avo mush and some kind of mexican flavoured bacon top. Will NOT be ordering that again. In one meal it went from being my favourite to my never again!!!!

Really nice pub by the river. Food is delicious and at friendly pub prices, can't go past their chicken burger, big servings. The service is excellent and they have a great variety of drinks on offer.

Bad experience with the lady taking orders. Weekday lunch I asked for 'two schnitzels' (they have a $15 lunch special). She asked me 'chips and salad' or 'mash and veg'. I said chips and salad. Realised later I'd been charged $24 per schnitty. When collecting the meals I asked about it.

Apparently because I chose 'chips and salad' that isn't the lunch special (as she defiantly told me). Only chips and sauce on the lunch special. She argued and carried on refusing to refund. Had to keep making the point.

Surely she could have clarified that when ordering (would you like to pay $24 for chips and some soggy lettuce leaves - or $15 for the lunch special that is just chips).

She ended up scraping the side salad into the bin and then giving me a partial refund (still $4 short) but I couldn't be bothered arguing further - I'll just avoid coming back and spread the word.

The rest of the staff (bar tender, waitress) were super nice - so it's a shame!

My family and I had some delicious meals here. Portions were generous. Food very reasonably priced and so delicious.

I then left my bag on the chair next to me!! When I called back a day later, they had my bag. It was in perfect condition, with all the money and contents in place.

I am so grateful to the staff here. Thank you for your kindness, honesty and hospitality!

Wow what a find. Great food and wine at a reasonable price. We had the Panko Crumbed Whiting - was excellent. Good relaxing outdoor dining areas add to the quality ambience. Can recommend for a lazy relaxed lunch.

Interesting place. Awesome location to stop on a long drive. Cold beer. A dude playing guitar!

Gee Harwood, what happened!
Have been calling into this hotel for a meal for 10yrs on our travels up and down the coast, always been good until today..thai fish and prawn cakes were like rubber and tasteless, dipping sauce was uneatable and awful, thai salad was just a normal salad with a bit of vermicelli. 400gr Tbone was like a big chop and sinewy, not 400grms, very disappointed.
Hope it was a one off.

Great food. Very pleased with calamari, duck spring rolls, garlic bread and chicken schnitzel. Would definitely go again.

Great food and friendly staff. A few gluten free and vegetarian options. My bun-less burger was amazing! My partner also adored his parma with garlic prawn topping.

Best steak I've had in ages, the place was absolutely slammed and the chefs still delivered excellent food with perfectly cooked steak in a reasonable time considering how busy it was.

Had lunch here in September 2022 and really enjoyed the fantastic food. Amazing location right on the banks of the mighty Clarence river, in fact so close it's been regularly flooded over the years. Some cool historical photos above showing the pub during all the floods. The food was outstanding, well worthy trying if you are ever close by.

I have had 3 meals from the Harwood island hotel over the last 2 years and today I was once more amazed by the quality of food that was served. The surf and turf is to die for so much bang for ya buck , also the warm thi beef salad is amazing. It's just great to know when you go here you are going to get an awesome meal ever time. Thanks to the team at the Harwood island hotel .

Surprising find. You can tell this hotel is very much loved and cared for by its manager. Food was excellent, all ingredients were fresh and cooked perfectly. Great value too. Making this a regular stop to recharge during our travels from now on.

We had a lovely lunch at the Harwood Hilton today. Thank you Fred and Chris Kratz for taking my son James and I out on your beautiful boat and lunch. ??

Everything was great. Covid entry was seamless with management ready to assist if necessary. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals which were served promptly, hot & delicious (& generous proportions). We are nearby locals and will be returning on a regular basis.

Great spot to charge the Tesla. Perfect distance from Brisbane en route to Sydney. Great, friendly service and lovely relaxing view of the Clarence river. Icy cold drinks and warm, genuine smiles. We'll be back. Dog friendly

Nice food, great place , but the cvd19 check in was a pain an waiting for food isn't cool, plus being seated in the sun in full leathers, is a no no
