Over in Adelaide for holidays, dropped in to this place for lunch with friends. Meal was lovely, drinks selection was good and the company was great. After our meal, we had a go on the pokies briefly, and then played some pool 🎱. Thoroughly recommend and would 100% go back for more ??'?.

Drinks were good. Steak was overcooked. Was rather disappointed with the table service; had instructed the staff not to clear the slider as only 1 was eaten and 2 will be eaten later, but they were still cleared when we came back to the table from the dance floor. Food and money were wasted.

Came here for lunch last weekend. I ordered the steak was absolutely cooked to perfection, the chips were crispy & salad yummy too.
Hubby had the herbivore stack. He was very happy as it did not disappoint. Will def come back here again & get the steak 🥩 . ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Reviewing steakhouse only-service excellent, wine selection by glass very limited to mediocre local vineyard. Steak is good but overcooked to specifications, duck fat potatoes very ordinary, excellent sauces. Salads and chips reasonable. Could be better

We came here only for a meal during a stopover on our road trip, not only was Hahndorf absolutely stunning but the staff at The Old Mill were the loveliest we met on our whole trip, they even gave us a free dessert for no other reason than for us to have a lovely end to our night!
Absolutely beautiful people that work there, and the food is extremely generous portions too so take your appetite! Absolutely more than worth the money! 100% recommend!

Stayed only one night. Check-in was a breeze, price was great, plenty of parking, staff were fantastic, and food was great; best steak I've had in a long time!

Rooms could do with an update and buy some better toilet paper!🤣

A seniors group on a bus trip. Lunch at The Old Mill. A separate room was prepared. Staff very helpful. Service efficient. Meals were tasty and wee prepared. Lots of choice on seniors $18 menu. Unable to change salad because computer did not allow for it so had to leave most of the salad. A minor problem in a very pleasant time.

Our family come here everytime we visit Hahndorf and it is a beautiful venue with beautiful hospitality! Classic pub vibes in an old classic building. Food is exceptional! Great variety of food and we've not had a bad meal ever. Steaks cooked perfectly. We really cannot fault this place.

Had dinner in main dining room which was nice. Food was nice and came out quick. Service was warm and friendly.
Stayed in the rooms upstairs. The room was small but cute and cosy overlooking the main street of Hahndorf. Furniture was a little old with paint blistering and bubbling off and no power points at bed sides for changing. Room advertised with a queen bed but only had a double which at 188cm didn't make for a comfortable night sleep. Made worse with a mattress well past it's use by date.

Unfortunately we and other customers were charged a double service fee. I was on a table half of us got our meals after the other half was finished. No apology from owner's son. We did however get an apology from the assistant manager. Bugs in our salad. Had to ask 4 times for a coffee. It was a disaster. Food was nice.

The friendly check-in & the clean bathroom & bedlinen, plus great location are sadly the only things I can leave any kind of positive feedback about. I would be lucky to have had a few hrs sleep due to the concrete feel mattress, whose coils dug into my hips so badly it literally kept me awake!! Might be worth investing in a mattress topper so your clients can get some sleep!!!

Then the noise from all the trucks & cars in the early morning meant there was no chance of rest! Albeit that's not the fault of the establishment, but perhaps complimentary earplugs might be in order?!! The room was so dusty, most likely the gross carpet, that it set off my asthma to add insult to injury!!

I didn't expect luxury for $80, but a bed & room I can get some sleep in would've been great. Not a great experience before an 8hr long drive back to Melbourne. Will definitely not be staying here next trip.

Great place, food was good, but warm to cold when it came put. There were 16 of us, but as they were trying to bring our meals put all at the same time, they were cold most of us had the same issue.
When food is ordered, food should come out in order of how the food is ordered, that way the food will be hot as should be.
We aren't worried about whether we all eat at the same time.
Cold chips, cold fish, cold roast of the day, apart from that issue, food was of good quality, & fresh.
We all ate it anyway, conversation was our main reason for the get together, a catchup between friend's.
Only complaint, above the food being served cold, was I ordered 'Bangers & Mash' from the menu, to be told I couldn't have that. It was on the menu, is one of favourite dishes I like to have when I dine out, so I had to hurry myself & order something in a hurry, that I was expecting to do.

What has happened to the wonderful smorgasbord style of service you had, when we last came for lunch at the Mill?
Where we paid a price, & helped ourselves to a good spread & variety, & selection of food ?! You need to bring that back, it's what attracted us to the Mill in the first place, it's what our group expected, from last time we came there.

Being told that I couldn't have what I ordered, is a cop out by the establishment, owners running the hotel.
We were there at 11:30 am, for a 12 midday start, so it wasn't like the 'Bangers & Mash' had ran out !?!?

Accomodation only: booked this as a cheap and cheerful option for one night. Check in was quick and when I asked about breakfast recommendations was greeted by a lot of wonderful suggestions. The room was old world charm, small but adequate for one. Bed was comfortable and shower was hot. Being above pub and on street some traffic noise as to be expected but mid week during holidays not much noise from downstairs (more noise from adjoining rooms). Easy walking distance to Main Street shops and cafes. Loads of parking, bus stop out front. Good base to explore the hills.

Such a shock! This famous, iconic venue seems to have hit rock bottom! We were a party of 10 people, all local or former Hahndorf residents, celebrating with a 90th birthday lunch!

We made sure the event was fittingly marked despite the drawbacks!

Three items on the menu weren't available .. one day into a long weekend! The food was brought to the table piecemeal ... the last person (me) was served a whole hour after the first meal arrived from the kitchen!! Everyone had finished their meal when I began mine! We ordered coffee which came before the empty plates were taken away! I attempted to pick up the plates and transfer them neatly to an empty table adjacent to make room for the coffee cups and overcome the clutter! I was rudely chastised by a member of staff for my actions. I respectfully pointed out there was no room left on the table for the coffees but received neither any response nor apology!

Two young junior waiting staff were delightful and obliging but senior staff were generally rude an unwelcoming.

Such a shame for an important celebration attended by folk who well remember The Old Mill when ... 🙄

Stayed in the main building and dined in May 2023. First stay was back in 2017. It was good, that's why we returned. Room amenities have been added, room condition improved tremendously over the years. Service was great. Good wine selection and food was ??'? despite a busy night and understaffed kitchen. No doubt about it, we will stay here again next time. Highly recommended.

You can take photos of yourself in a vintage car while you wait, there is one inside and one outside, in front of the kerbside display.
The open plan area has a fireplace and pool tables at the back. We ended up having our meal in the Heritage Room for the authentic Old Mill experience.

I would rather eat my ex-wife cooking (and she can't cook) than eat here again, I order the trio of meats that only can with a bit of chicken and bit of what I could best describe and a bit of cardboard/steak that also was meant to have a pork sausage that was nowhere to be seen, the waitress didn't even mention they had ran out and when I asked where it was, I basically was told don't have any and to bad and what do you want me to do about it. To top it off the load mouth chef in kitchen prattling on so the restaurant could hear them, shut up or get a closed kitchen.

The location is perfect. The staff are lovely and kind. The beds are not great. I found it very hard and uncomfortable. I wish our room had actually been cleaned and not just beds made and towels collected. And they definitely should warn people about the loud music late into the night on a weekend. But it's is fairly priced and good for last minute bookings.

Room was clean and well equipped for our family. The beds were comfortable. The only letdown was the bathroom fan staying on after the lights were turned off (was a bit noisy). We really liked staying here and would definitely recommend it to others.

We spent the night here last night. Wonderful location right in the middle of Hahndorf. Unfortunately, the mattress was extremely uncomfortable and full of springs. The pillows were extremely thin and I woke up with a sore back and a pinched nerve in my neck. The furniture is quite cheap and dated. But the staff were lovely. The place just needs a thorough upgrade when it comes to accommodation.

Food tasted like salt, and that's the best part. We were told we'd have to wait for our food, but we weren't told we would wait almost TWO HOURS and that people who were in the line after us would be served before us [we were the very last to be served- were we forgotten???- there were at LEAST 12 people after us in the que]. When the food FINALLY arrived, it was way too salty in two dishes, too dry in the third and tasting like an old vitamin E ointment when it came to the fish (bleaugh!!).
10/10 would NOT recommend.
Service people were nice, but couldn't do anything about getting food in a timely manner.
Also, the bartender was drunk, drinking behind the bar, & in a bad mood from the start.

Waited over an hour for food. Salmon was ridiculously salty and missing veg. Two of us had finished our meals before our daughters arrived 1/2 hour later. Chips never arrived at all. Obviously understaffed.
Staff member Lisa was great but poor lady was run off her feet.

I wish I'd found this place earlier, it's amazing. The staff are awesome, the food is incredible and super fast service. This place is massive, it has the best bars and pool tables in Hahndorf and all these vintage cars throughout the building, also has a heap of arcade games. Can't recommend highly enough. 10 out of 10

If you are looking for an honest to goodness good meal go no further.

Accommodation here is function over form, the rooms are good not great with facilities inline for a short or overnight stay.

The real drawcard is the village that is steeped in old stone buildings, eateries, pubs and a real sense of local history.

Did not stay but will in future so cannot comment. Hotel by bus stop from Adelaide very frequent. Excellent food and prices. Warm and cosy. Please use Bus if drinking. Check with Adelaide Metro. Buses run at least half hourly to Grenfell Street in city. See bus stop on pic

Mid week 2 nights; excellent stay. .Gr8 location. Staff helpful and friendly. Dining downstairs very good. Only notation is that like many motel / hotel rooms; visitors need to be mindful that sound travels.

Did not stay, but went for dinner. Had the Seafood Basket, was the best Seafood Basket I've had in a very long time especially the calamari! Other family members complimented their steak dishes!

There were a few issues with some maintenance things but our room was beautiful and totally made the experience, the food was good and the staff were incredibly amazing and so lovely and understanding (especially Roni and Alys). Totally made up for the few things that went wrong! I'd come back just because how amazing they were. Such beautiful and accommodating souls. Thank you!

A great place for a quick stopover for lunch in the centre of Hanhdorf. Food was tasty , the bistro looked generous to fit big and small crowds, very family friendly. We had a 300g sirloin with Mushroom sauce, its actually quite tasty and quite acceptable and comes with a full plate. They fed me well.

Had a group of 13 for lunch 7th August. From the time of booking to getting there everything was so easy. They were so friendly and helpful. Meals were really good, Service excellent and we had a great time.

It is old, not quaint, needs refurbishing, looking tired and old. Not enough pillows, no reception to ask, bed was cheap and uncomfortable. Lets get started on the bathroom - no vanity, no shelves to put our toiletries on, no toiletries supplied, a notice to ask to reuse towels but bathroom so cold they dont dry. But the pub - excellent staff, great meal, very personable bar staff, interested in their customers.

Amazing bar staff. We went in after a wedding had finished up locally and Eloise and Claudia where great. So accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend. Accommodation was good too, basic but clean and tidy.

The Buffet restaurant here was one of my favourite, but temperately closed due to Covid-19. Can't wait for it to re-open.

Not the best place to stay...I mean it's ok if you like White Tip spiders in your room along with cobwebs. Oh and if you like hair clogging up the spa drain, this is your place. It's so outdated. If you book a room during December make sure there aren't any functions going on around it because you won't get a wink of sleep.

Stayed in a motel room. Place looks rustic outside but inside itu2019s a pit. Had to change rooms upon arrival when the air con didnu2019t work. Air con in the new room sounded like an airplane, and the fan didnu2019t have a cord. Bed was quite hard. Could hear everything happening in the rooms next door. Thereu2019s better places around Hahndorf for a similar price.

Cheapest family accommodation for the area we could find, clean and good sized rooms. Excellent location to explore the main Street of Hahndorf. Lovely stay.

It's ok. Everyone is attentive and helpful. Parking is behind which is great. The food is decent - 6/10. Only issue, is sometimes there's lots of flies inside... and it can be annoying when eating. I'd come back but hopefully less flies...
