I was the only person in the restaurant apart from 2 people eating. I waited so long, while the kitchen staff carried on conversations, that I walked out. I had already paid for my meal but I had still no idea when I would get it. I was appalled. Bar staff were wonderful. I can't even rate the restaurant staff for service as I didn't get any.

Great Country Pub. Enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere was quite pleasant on the day I attended this hotel for lunch accompanied by friends. The meals are filling. I am reliably informed this country Pub gets busy on weekends with day trippers from Coffs Harbour and Grafton.

Forme the seafood chowder was the star of the meals, and seconded by the table service.
I have to apologise to the head server and table server for apparently shocking her when I stopped her pouring my cider like a glass of water! (Bad enough they put ice in the glass, but they don't realise it should be poured like beer)
That's just me apparently. That being said the staff were excellent . They attended the table like no other restaurant that I have been to!
Highly recommend, but be warned there is a 15% loading on weekends.

They had absolutely no red meat on the menu and the chicken schnitzel I ordered was mediocre at best. This pub used to have great food but not anymore. It used to be busy and vibrant on a Sunday afternoon but word has obviously got around. I won't be going back until it changes hands.

Lunch here today. Meal was disgusting. Burger bun was dry, stale, and was served with 2 bottoms pale and uninteresting. Meat patty was dry and tasteless. Half slice of beetroot small amount of tomato, lettuce, NO ONIONas promised. I did ask before ordering what was on the burger.!!! Did complain but no respons
$15.00 not well spent. Won't be hurrying back.

This hotel is renown for its great quality food and size of meals, however my recent visits have been disappointing. Called in on Monday night only to be told bistro is only selling pizza's which were burnt & bloody terrible, Tooheys New now taken off tap forcing me to buy a stubby, I don't go to pubs to drink stubbies as I drink then at home. The service behind the bar was great however the 2 young girls in the bistro were unfriendly & abrupt.
Consistency is key..

We really enjoyed our visit to the pub. Great meals at good prices. We stayed in our van at the local recreation reserve and ate at The Golden Dog Hotel. A wonderful off the highway experience between Coffs Harbour and Grafton.

Good country pub, cold beer, friendly service and a big menu packed with choice and all around quality and well priced meals.
Membership is free to access member prices.
Only downside to note would be the rolls for the roast pork and gravy are the wrong shape.

The country drive to the Golden dog hotel is very relaxing. When you arrive at Glenriegh it is a very tranquil place. The hotel has alot of character & warmth to it. Meals are generous. Good place for a family lunch or picnic

All previous reviewers must have been family. This was about as average food, service, atmosphere as you ever find in a country pub. One star for being there

Wow! Just WOW! Great food and service at the Dog. After arriving for lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon, to find the carpark full and people everywhere, we were thinking that we would be waiting for at least an hour for lunch. Not so, in less than 20 minutes we were served our meals - which were huge! I had a Works Burger - which came with chips - $15. Needed a knife and fork it was that big.
Really nice pub, clean toilets, nice outdoor area & very friendly staff. Great value for money, compared to some places charging $20+ for a small serve of anything. True country value for money at this pub.

Doggone it! Today I was paw-tunate enough to visit the labr-adorable Big Golden Dog at Glenreagh. No ifs or mutts, it was an un-fur-gettable experience and you'd be barking mad not to drop in. The hotel nextdoor to the humongous hound is a pup-ular spot, and I even had a beer or ca-nine!

The enormous dog statue is an interesting novelty and the building is nice and clean, with pleasant dcor. However, there's extra charges for card payments (even during the pandemic) and no Wi-Fi, despite customers being required to check in with a QR code.

We arrived in town after a 8hr drive and 30 mins before the kitchen closed. They were so nice and allowed us to do a take away order. While we waited the bar staff were super friendly and nice. Once the food came we took it home and omg! That was the best schnitzel we had in a very long time. It was moist and delicious. The steak was well cooked and gravys were flavorful. The portion sizes were generous and good value for money. We loved the food and service so much we went back the very next night and had dinner and drinks again. Its a small town and a small pub but the relaxed welcoming atmosphere made it. Classic cute and just worth the visit.

Saw an ad for $9 meals on Wednesday and Thursday night. Decided to go try it out. Amazing food and large portion sizes.. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Well worth the drive to visit. Next time will be a Tuesday for stone cooked pizza.
