Great suprisingly large dog friendly pub, minutes walk from Redfern or Central station. FOOD: Great selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free (they can't guarantee coeliac safety) food. Think typical pub food: burgers, steaks, salads etc. They arrived pretty quickly, considering how busy this place gets late at night. STAFF: Really down to earth, efficient and friendly. AMBIENCE: Think grungy, colourful artsy (not modern fresh homogenous) locals pub with great artistically designed spaces. Be warned, expect stairs. There are outdoor and indoor spaces both upstairs and on ground floor. It's got a great friendly feel with locals bringing their dogs and it attracting both a young and older age demographic. They hire out rooms/areas to bands, for exhibits etc so there's always stuff on. ACCESSIBILITY: Side street parking limited, not really wheelchair friendly with 1-2 stairs and smaller toilets etc, however you could just sit outside if you have large prams/walkers/wheelchairs. OVERALL: Recommend and will be back.

First time at this pub to see my friends band Lazuli Mood play. The room where they performed was a nice atmosphere, felt intimate and homely.

Afterwards we had some drinks, staff was friendly, service was good, crowd was nice. We did not try out the food.

Love this place. Always welcoming, with great food and staff!
(btw the comment by Archie Thomas about the Matilda's incident has the wrong Gladstone - that happened at the one in Dulwich Hill)

Great Ting-a-Ling event! Good DJs. Service was good. Only thing is there was a bit too much smoking going on in the courtyard for the amount of people packed in. Maybe could open the door in the courtyard for the smokers to go out of the venue for the event only.

Legendary place. Such a great vibe & culture you almost forget you're in Sydney! Awesome live music, atmosphere, decor; love the art space upstairs. Generous and tasty food too; great price for drinks of which the house options are better than the house options at most places. I bought a mate visiting Sydney from UK she wanted to see something more local rather than just the big CBD clubs & bars etc, she absolutely loved it! Shame that the upstairs closes so early though ... ah there we go, back in Sydney :-(

Very highly recommended.

Everything you expect from a Sydney dive, but nothing more. Usually only one unique local craft brew on tap alongside the usual suspects. I appreciate that they embrace the dive instead of attempting to pander to the hipsters. Go for the dingy decor and local feel, but don't assume the price will match the atmosphere.

Such a rad little pub. Good variety of beers on tap, with plenty of locally brewed options.
The goodspace gallery upstairs is great for live music and art.

Also surprisingly amazing gigs & comedy here.

Cute place. Indoor/ outdoor seating. Smokers area upstairs. The band played in the front area but they still had DJ music going out the back so one could choose. They close the back door though, so we got a bit lost trying to find our way out lol. Food was nice but not large serves. Staff were friendly enough.

Excellent night spot. The beer garden area is a great atmosphere, and inside is very fun when there's a DJ on the decks. Good selection of local beer

Cannot love this pub more. I haven't been to a place that changes more everyday (in a good way!!). Such diverse and inclusive events and a total part of the cultural landscape of the area...

Yeah, the floor is a bit wonky, staff all legends, events ..all amazing !!!
This place is my home !

If you plan on reserving a table here, don't expect to get much help from anyone behind the bar. Being more explicit over the phone about where the tables would be more inaccessible to get to at certain times of the night would have been more than helpful considering there was a dance party about two metres away from our reserved seats, saying "it's not my problem" to a simple request to move our table to a more appropriate area was not a desired response. Decent venue though expected a little better of a verbal response than that.

Just had a simple, yet delicious cheese burger. Unfortunately I couldn't stay for a scooter, as I was working. But it looks like an enjoyable place to have a few pints with friends.

Good selection of beer. I had an excellent brisket burger and nice chips. The nachos also looked good and the steak was suitably rare. My complements to the chef. The only downside was that we had to eat inside as it was raining and the music is too loud to be able to chat comfortably.

Love this grungy alternative pub on regent st. There is also a cool little space out the back where they exhibit art from local artists.

Tis the week before Christmas,
The sun was roasting my flesh.
The beers were cold,
The company was good.
Vibes were immaculate and I was looking good.
The table was sticky,
My heart was full.
The Lord Gladstone surely is cool.

The Lord Gladstone has a great vibe. I especially love Goodspace on a Wednesday night, hosting new exhibitions every week for budding artists and creators to showcase their work and get their name out there.

Check out this pub on a Monday for Pub Feed. Been here many times usually to get their Chicken Schnitzel special on Monday. They doing it for $12.5 and its one of the best Schnitzel under $15 in all the Pub that I tried. The Chicken Schnitzel is decent size well seasoned, fries are hot and crispy with a nice creamy slaw and the mushroom sauce is never enough for me as I want to dip the whole Schnitzel into the sauce. They have other deal too like Mon to Wed $12.5 lunches, Tue $4 Racos, Wed $15 Parmi with a Pint of Young Henry for $5 and Thursady $12.5 Rump Steak. Good spot for neighbourhood Pub feed with cool vibes.

Oi $5 schooners at happy hour? That sounds like something I can absolutely get behind, and I did. Zero regrets and my bank account is still loving me too. I would absolutely recommend the Lord Gladstone for bringing friends and maybe dates that you don't totally love but still care about enough to just have a decent time. May not be fancy, but it's a damn solid pub

Staff was nice but patrons were unnecessarily rowdy and rude, making our whole group feel uncomfortable.Reply: we were a group coming from a tennis match and were rudely mocked at during the night by a couple of groups close to us regarding our tennis gear. Its just highly inappropriate and made us feel uncomfortable, so we left after one drink. The staff were being nice enough to tell the other group to settle however we still didnt feel comfortable as the mockery continued.

The staff were really friendly and great location but the bathrooms were pretty yuck, toilets were leaking and tables were all sticky and needed to be wiped down.

I don't know who this Lord Gladstone character was but I can confidently say the best thing he ever did was this pub. Five stars all round.

Great place for Friday beers. Also have a cool upstairs space where there are often life drawing, gigs, and art exhibitions.

Great vibe at this old pub in Chippendale. A couple of friendly young guys have taken charge & we really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere & tasty food. They've tarted up the walls with colourful art & opened up the top deck outside for extra seats. Small courtyard leading onto back lane. Great music. Will be back!
