The website boasts that The George has all original features. It's true. Those green tiles must be from 1965. Well, what's left of them.
The prices are cheap. The place looks a bit tired and could use a declutter. I was happy with my steak and chips but wouldn't be in a rush to go back.

I will never step foot into this place again. Went there for lunch with 3 work colleagues we ordered 3 meals, one of the guys has special dietary needs so he had his own lunch with him. As we were eating this rude thing walked over to our table saying you can't bring food from outside and eat here, but today is ok. He said ok I won't come back, and the so called woman aggressively started saying you don't need to comment or argue. A few mins later a customer walks in and orders a beer and asks her how are you and she actually said 'I'm not good' just from that comment alone it is clear she should not be in the hospitality industry. SHITÈ SERVICE NOT RECOMMENDED

Came to pub with my workers for lunch as we thought we can have a luxurious lunch. Food was good and all four of us enjoying our food until pim the bartender decided to open her mouth about one of us having our own food (carrying on saying we can not eat other food in here) i agreed with her and she just kept carrying on and telling me to be quiet.she was way too rude, i reckon she should get some otger job out of hospitality. Thanks

Sadly this pub was great, not sure what's happened but the bar and pokies lay out is terrible. Can clearly see they are only interested in making money off the gambling.

The bar staff is beyond terrible, I've never seen a pub with such poor customer service. I had to walk into the staff area to ask someone for a drink... I couldn't find a staff member for close to an hour.

Who ever owns this pub should really step it up. If your willing to put that much money in to upgrade your pokies have the staff to match it.

If I could rate it zero stars I would.

The George hotel is a classic, good service and unforgivable specials, two happy hours during the day and also beer of the week which is $15.00 a jug or $5.00 a schooner (a must have)... I look forward to come back and give it a try to the kitchen.
Chicken wings for $10.00 was a good one.

Very slow to serve but otherwise a very happy place to visit

Good for a quick beer, staff had no personality.

We are now looking forward to seeing old friends and enjoying a cold beer and the best lunch

Nice staff, open till 2am (alot later than most of the bars in the area) can go there for a late night drinks and extremely reasonable prices. Would recommend

Have not visited, this is purely based on phone customer service... Called at dinner time to ask if we need to book for dinner or if it is walk in. Was told "I don't know", that the chef isn't in and they don't know if he will be coming in at all? Was told to call back in an hour to check. I asked if that was normal, if they are usually open for dinner or not. Was told the chef hasn't been on lately, so "maybe not". Bummer, because the (clearly outdated?) menu on their website looked great. Surprised they advertise dinner but don't do it?

Really delicious and well priced food. I had a vegetarian bowl and it was fantastic! Good price beers too

The George has the potential to be a really nice neighbourhood pub. The beer is cold, the food is tasty, but the staff just couldn't care less. Customer service? Just isn't a thing here.

Pub has changed hands and undergoing a tidy up. Bottle Shop now open. Restaurant back doing food, fresh and easy to eat. More importantly the beets are cold and happy hour $5.00 schools. Don't walk past, walk in.

This place is going through renovations but the staff there are amazing. I see them getting some difficult time there with some of the customers who clearly don't like change. But they really do go out of your way to make you enjoy

I've seen this pub go from somewhere I wouldn't walk into, to a decent pub with fantastic barbecue, then to a lively pub with a great food and bottle shop.Not sure what the new people are going for but decent bottle shop gone, people gone, restaurant coming but I wouldn't hold my breath.With fantastic pubs all around the area.... I'd go recommend you go elsewhere!

2 stars coz you can still get beers on tap and thats the bare minimum needed for 2 stars but other than that the George has really changed since the new owners took over. Sadly the pool table has gone, the tacos have gone, the super friendly service has gone, the lively atmosphere is lost and the awesome bottle shop is gone - all replaced by tab screens and empty chairsThey do still have $5 happy hour and some locally brewed, independent breweries on offer and included in the happy hour and thats the only thing really saving this place from a 1 star rating

Good place to have a beer. No one interferes with you. It's nice. Staff are courteous. Polite. It's cool

The hotel has Just got new owners, nothing much in bottle shop, I payed $45 for 3 small bottles of Guinness and 3 small bottles of Heineken, never thought of that price till now,I think I will wait for the hotel to get established

Great pub in Waterloo. Have been meaning to come here for months and finally got there this weekend. Will def be back! So many things to like!

The Taco King is worth the trip alone. Unreal authentic Mexican eats here. Will definitely be back for dinner to try the taco Al pastor (they only do these for dinner) as I've heard it's a must try. Besides that the team there were super friendly and helpful. We tried 4 different tacos and tostidos and has to go back for seconds with the fish taco. Amazing!

The pub side of things is solid too. Good beer (apparently the frostys beer is a brand owned by the owner of Frankie's Pizza. Hadn't seen it before and was a great drop) and a great space. We chose to sit in the courtyard out the back in the sun. Great for a Winter's day! The other options were to play pool, sit inside or out the front.

Lastly and an unexpected suprise was the bottle shop adjoining the pub. Such a great selection of craft beers, an extensive wine collection includong preservative free wines, non alcoholic bevvies galore!

Overall a great find for us (even though we drive past it multiple times a week!) So glad we stopped in and can't wait to go back.

Staff are really nice and the beer tap selection is good but we came for the tacos are they were only ok. We ate pretty much all on offer to try them out. We were very sober though so maybe they're better after you've had a few more drinks.

Came here the other night for some tacos.
We tried every taco on the menu. They were pretty tasty but not without fault.
The pub itself isn't much to look at. I haven't been before but apparently it's been renovated, I couldn't tell...
Because of this I felt the price of tacos was too high. Price on the menu should be a reflection of the quality of the food and the dining experience. The George fell short in department 2.
Good tacos but I probably won't be back.
