Excellent mattress. But the best thing about this motel is the cheap meals which punch above their weight. I'll definitely stay there again. Was so tempted to get more of the cheap eats even though I wasn't hungry. Friendly staff too.

Well managed Hotel Motel ,on the hill on approach to Belmont from Charlestown ... Old Pacific Hwy.
Staff are very obliging, easygoing & friendly.
The motel rooms are semi renovated , need a few extra bits and pieces , but overall very good value & cleanest I have had for a while.
Shame there is no dining room here anymore, so you get the courtesy bus to the clubs nearby for dinner.

Nice quiet stay for the night. Staff friendly, simple. Nice being close to teh Hotel where you can get a feed. Small room which as more than adequate and well priced for what you got

Easy and friendly check in, beds are comfy, aircon/heater works well and decent shower. Fridge etc included

Be aware that google maps will be a bit confusing as you come up to it, it will say turn left but it's before the lights into the driveway, not at the lights.

If you've got kids the room is just big enough to shower and get into bed...don't plan to chill out unless you're ok with being in bed...we only ever need a crash pad so it's never an issue for us

Lost my booking to start with. Air con clogged with dust so wouldn't heat the air. Was cleaned next day and worked better. Was cold so went for hot shower but there was none, shivered all night. Next 2 nights had earlier shower but still ran out of hot.
Went in for a nice meal on Friday but only a bar menu was available. Just a little disappointed.

Very friendly staff, the hotel is great bar food was good and very good servive by all the staff, i had a snitty it was a good size lovely salad chip meal 15 bucks cant get better then that, glass of sav blanc ro wash it down and a short walk to our room, clean tidy just for 2 nights couldnt aak for bwtter, in a good location too.

Lovely clean room, staff friendly. The only thing missing was a microwave in the room would have been handy to heat my dinner.

We stayed in the motel for a week whilst sorting out our recently purchased van for our travels.
The staff were great and very friendly, the cleaners came in everyday and made the beds, replaced the towels for clean ones, emptied the bins, replenished our much needed teas and coffees each day and the showers have very good flow. The food in the bar was very good for value.

Better than some hotels I've been to and pretty cheap. It's connected to the pub but far enough from it so you don't hear the pub. Quiet and clean, would recommend.

Our new go to! Great place to get away from the kids for the night. Staff were lovely and very hospitable. Rooms are cheap cause they are dated, but they are very clean so can't complain. Drinks and food were nice and well priced. Plenty of stuff there; pool table, tab, big screens, pokies, bottlo, Just a good time!

We were caught in Newcastle for 10 days due to a family member in hospital and desperately needed some affordable accomodation. Luckily we stumbled upon Jenny at the Gateshead Tavern who was able to juggle her bookings and provide us with a twin room for nearly two weeks. Although the room was basic it was clean, affordable and convenient. The staff and clients at the Tavern were friendly generous and provided us with good old fashioned hospitality in our time of need for which we are very grateful. Thank you.

Old and dank. Cheap enough though, shower floor needed a better clean. Overall standard was 2.5 to 3. Staff were helpful. Location a bit industrial but close enough to some bush walks and the beach. 5k

Just lovely staff. Friendly and warm and helpful. Great bar especially with good food. It's also a motel. Basic rooms but clean.

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights and apart from a few minor details that the wonderful Jenny attended to, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Small cosy room with reverse cycle air conditioning, compact shower with great pressure and hot water. Food was great, as were the entire staff. Value for money!!!!!
The only things to make it 5 star would maybe be some cutlery, an iron to go with the ironing board and perhaps a small microwave.

Would give 5 stars apart from the drunken guests talking loudly and laughing at 7am. No respect right outside the rooms. Staff were fantastic and able to attend to me easily. Room had all the basics just annoying that the shower would be boiling one minute and freezing the next. Cheap and cheerful accomimdation.

A very clean motel conveniently located in between Lake Macquarie and New castle. The pub has a nice courtyard, a lovely place to relax with a bite and drinks. Staff was very attentive and quickly solved any problems we had. Highly recommended.

Cheap, relaxed accommodation with all your basics in the rooms. Good WiFi and the feed from the pub is pretty good too.

Last time I was at this particular Tavern I had a great meal of steak and veg steak was very good and the vegetables perfect and not over cooked. And I won a nice amount of money in the VIP gaming room having a slap a nice night definitely go back again..... ?

As you can imagine, the room was very basic but very clean and had everything we needed for a one night stay so close to the hospital. The bed was very comfortable but I rated my stay 2 out of 5 because I got very little sleep due to our neighbours talking ALL NIGHT LONG. I must have fallen asleep, finally, around 3:30am (they were still talking). Woke up at 6am and they were STILL babbling away. If I stayed again, I would make sure I was put in a room as far away from another occupied room as possible. I could even smell the toast our neighbours made.

We have enjoyed our stay here, food is excellent, staff are so nice and the housekeeping staff are great we will stay here again.

Nice clean and well appointed motel with good amenities just off main highway. Very reasonable pricing and they were able to give me a room at very short notice.
