There were 12 of us and a dog for lunch on a busy sunday which they were able to cater for us. There was only one staff behind the bar who was very friendly and helpful. We never had to wait too long despite the shortage of staff. The food was excellent and the beer garden beautiful. 10/10 will be going back when passing through next time.

Love this Hotel. Wonderful atmosphere and love the live Jazz every second Saturday of the month and the Jazz jam sessions last Sunday of the month. I have not tried the food yet but have heard it is good. Also nice to sit out the back with my dog either on the deck or back lawn.

Food we ordered was awful. Beer battered flathead were straight out of the frozen box from woolies. They were crumbed and all the same size. I suppose you never order seafood when you're over 100km from the ocean. The wrinkled pork sausages look liked they were cooked on Monday and served Thursday

An old hotel but with a great facelift. Fresh, clean, I had a great balcony. But take ear plugs as the traffic and train noises on the roadside rooms is relentless. But I still loved my stay there. Great location and town. Central to all Blue Mountain offerings.

We had a family reunion based at the Gardners Inn with 25 guests staying at the hotel. It was just about perfect! The rooms were economical and comfortable - great for families with children. We had a function in the lounge area for 32 on the Saturday night. Food was fantastic and great value. The staff were remarkable. Jodie went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted. The young man at the bar (sorry - forget your name) was also exemplary. Thank you for making the weekend a very special event.

A really amazing place with a lot of character and plenty of options for where to sit down and enjoy a drink or meal with family and friends.
We stayed as a large group for one night. A relaxed afternoon outside before finding one of the many lounge areas to sit around and chat.
Dinner was in the large front dining area. Quick service by friendly staff.
The hotel is right across the road from Blackheath train station so really handy. No noticeable noise from the busy Great Western Hwy out the front.
The sort of venue that is worthy of an overnight stay.

Just one consideration. On a Sunday morning, the local shops and cafes don't open for quite awhile. If you're after a coffee or breakfast, your options are pretty limited. We did discover after exploring the township, that the service station next door to the hotel (the last place we went to..) is fully equipped for cafe style food and drink options. Barista coffee and fresh pastries etc.

We had some issues with our room and the manager offered us a free upgrade which we really appreciated. The hotel is beautiful, has lots of old charm and is very clean. The bedrooms are quiet and cosy. The food in the bistro is delicious and the portion sizes are very generous! The location is very central to everything this beautiful town has to offer such as great scenery, walks, coffee, bakeries and restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future!

Great location. A stone's throw away from the Blackheath train station. Cozy rooms, great community spaces. If you're here on a weekend, I'd enquire to find they are having an open mic or a music night. Good lord, I tried to sleep since 8:30 pm and a dude was going on well past 11 pm. The music was so generic and so repetitive. If I'm gonna sacrifice sleep for this, the least I'd expect is decent music.

The place was very calm when I visited there.
The portion is very good and tasty.
I have tried a beef steak with chips and salad which was really nice.
The place also comfortable.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!
After waiting an hour for my families meals, we went to the bar to ask how much longer we would need to wait just to be completely ignored by one particular male staff member with glasses, and a beanie. I have never met someone working in a bar that was so rude!
Food finally arrived an HOUR AND A HALF! after ordering, and was ice cold.

NEVER AGAIN WILL I WASTE MY MONEY OR TIME AT THIS RUDE PUB.

I do wish there was more than 5*****
The staff + Wow, oh Wow.....soooo GOOD
Accommodation, perfect for our 1 night stay, very clean and comfortable.
We arrived 8pm, so their famous "Beef and Guinness Pot Pie" had been devoured by others: but our Lamb and Rosemary sausages were really yummy anyway.
Will we be back?? You betcha. Even the other half was keen before we even left.
Thank you to all the staff there; you are wonderful.

Tight-knit community, everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Fire places were lit ??"? bringing this warm and cosy vibe. Stayed in a room upstairs and enjoyed dinner and drinks.? Bar staff were funny and friendly. Had a really enjoyable evening here.

Lovely historical pub. It's been restored /renovated but retains all the charm. Very clean, friendly staff and locals. We had a delicious dinner of the chicken parmi and rump steak as part of their $29 special for two meals, which is available on Thursday nights. I had the pleasure of meeting a local gentleman in his 90's who told me that Charles Darwin stayed there in 1836 when it was called The Blackheath Inn. We really enjoyed our experience here.

Great service, staff are excellent. Steaks are pretty average. Had the sirloin and rump which were both not good. Oven baked salmon was excellent.

Terrible food. Honestly, how can you not manage to put out a nice chicken schnitzel, mash and veg. They need a new cook. Inside dining area lovely but outside quite revolting. Staff lovely.

Stayed here on the Thursday 29 Dec 2022, booking a room with an en suite bathroom. Before checking in, left luggage/bags with manager because we wanted to do a hike. Came back in the evening and easy check in. Room was very clean, although old. Their cleaners seem to do a thorough job, which confirmed some other reviews. We also ate at the restaurant for dinner, with the Thursday $30 for 2 meals special - we ordered 2 rump steak meals, and they exceeded expectations. (although there was a 30 to 40 minute wait for dinner, because they were busy - locals seem to like to dine there). The managers at the inn are very friendly and helpful - we met 3 of them over the two days (we only stayed 1 night) and felt very welcome. Would stay again and book the room with the ensuite bathroom. So much value

So very very noisy.
Not a place for a quiet drink and enjoyable ambiance.

Cutlery being handled in the lounge bar drowning out the loud music. Only a handful of patrons present. The bare floorboards echoing the noise makes it impossible to have a conversation let alone an enjoyable experience.

One drink was enough to realise this isn't a place to spend time.

Went for Sunday lunch, sat outside in the lovely sun,got the roast lamb $15 & had no complaints with the meal or service, the outside tables could do with a wipe over when customers leave & dodgy unstable tables need to be fixed.
Good pub grub at reasonable prices.

Payed good money for a small plain room with no heating and only one blanket on the bed. Not ideal for a cold winter night despite the electric blanket which only keeps part of you warm. Staff begrudgingly gave me another blanket when I asked for one. TV was not much bigger than a postage stamp. Don't think I'll be staying here again.

Tony and his team at the Gardner's Inn hosted my running club for a Christmas in July weekend away in the Blue Mountains. From start to finish, it was a fantastic experience. Tony was extremely helpful and responsive in the run up to the event, making sure we had the right room allocations, and organising a special Yulefest menu in the dedicated dining room. Beds were sooo comfy, rooms and showers lovely and warm, and rooms and bathrooms were scrupulously cleaned. The prices of the rooms, food and drinks were very reasonable too. The staff were so hospitable and helpful and we had a fabulous time. Jodie hosted our Yulefest dinner on the Saturday and the food was plentiful and delicious! We also struck lucky with the live music in the main bar: Rob Sparks was fantastic, and a few of our group even got up dancing! A truly wonderful weekend getaway. We can't thank you enough!

Top marks for this authentic charmer of an Aussie country pub, with its spacious function/dining room, fun & down-to-earth bar and affordable accommodation that doesn't disappoint. Under new ownership with Tony who seems to understand what people like.
There's plenty of parking. Picnic tables and covered seating out back for the nicer weather too, and am easy walk to railway station, shops & other eateries.

Waited for 51 minutes for our food after ordering, and we were starving by the time the food came out.
Our hunger meant we tried to scoff down some insanely dry schnitzels and choked as we had already finished our two rounds of beers, and the schnitzel was straight out of a packet. It's been a while since I tasted cardboard, but that would be much juicier than what we got!
Whilst the pot pie tasted good, it was also dry and could use more Guinness to offset the flaky crust.
All in all, not worth the 50 bucks paid (70+ including beers), and one of the most disappointing pub lunches I've had. Not sure how you stuff up schnitzel and chips, but these guys clearly do!

Stopped here for lunch as hankering after pub food. Looks a bit shabby from the outside but the bistro is bright, airy and spacious. Good option for families. Roaring log fire to boot.
Food was tasty and big portions. The sides of steamed veg are obviously frozen not fresh, but my bangers and mash was tasty and got the toddlers approval. Husbands pie was also well received. Would stop by again.

Sorry to say but we had a bad experience. Heating in our room was broken and, with -3 degrees outside and poor insulation, the room was freezing. The eclectic blanket didn't work either. We had to hustle the staff to replace our blanket and cover the window in other blankets. He was unhelpful and didn't care. Didn't want to process our refund. We moved the bed as far from the window as possible and spent night in beanies. Not great.

Everything was pretty much as expected! Small but tidy rooms and although it does get cold at night there are electric blankets on the beds so we stayed warm through the night. All in all decent budget accommodation 😊

Awesome value, staff were great. Room was clean and tidy. Bed was comfy and towels were super soft. The shower pressure was much to be desired but totally would stay there again.

This place has a limited bistro but food was pretty good and solid portion. Friendly staff upon entry also. The reason for the 2 stars is the fact a staff party was happening downstair while I was trying to sleep, and while I understand it's pub accommodation you'd think the staff would be a bit more considerate at 1 in the morning on a Tuesday. Once they left I still couldn't sleep as the trucks outside would constantly fly past and the train across the road kept coming past every hour honking it's train horn for some unknown reason which I swear literally shook the pub.
Unfortunately didn't sleep, room was basic but clean and a bit overpriced considering it was shared bathroom. The electric blanket was good though I must mention
