Great food. Really surprised how big the parmi was. And my son loved the brisket burger

We had lunch and moved from outside to inside...it was an extremely hot day and we thought there should have been more fans.
The inside restaurant is a little dark.
We had shared plates and they are a great idea if you don't want a big meal.

All in all, a good day.

We arrived in Alstonville on Boxing Day and visited The Federal Hotel for dinner. We sat out on the verandah, on quite a warm afternoon/evening and enjoyed the vibe. Bar service and Food service was excellent but the food was unfortunately ordinary and expensive (we accept there is a surcharge on public holidays) I had the Snapper, dry and overcooked, chips also bland, hubby had the Scotch Fillet (requested medium) but was undercooked and raw.

Great Lamb Cutlets.....cooked perfectly and the service was excellent.

Great place for a meal and drink with friends/family. Lovely selection of food and great selection of drinks. Lovely staff. Will come again if in the area

I had the rolled pork, he had the Nacos, both excellent. Allowed our dog, we sat on verandah out the front.

Entree came out with main meal ,Luke warm ! Partner had Vegetarian linguine ,cold twice,
Lamb cutlets tough as old boots and vegetables just blanched. Very disappointed after all the hype???

What a difference a chef can make! Our local treasure is resuscitated. Thank goodness. Fabulous good bringing vibrancy...

Ok food, not a lot on offer for vegetarians or vegans, sowent with a pizza. It was well done, all our group enjoyed their eals a tad expensive for a pub!!

Stopped in for a beer, saw the food coming out of the kitchen so ended up staying for dinner, ribs were delicious as was the chicken saltimbocca. Well priced phenomenal service. Really looked after our kids. Worth stopping in Alvaston just for the Pub.

The Thai fish cakes were melt in mouth. Ray's rib fillet was cooked to perfection, and vegetables fresh and cooked well. Definitely going back for tasty meal well worth the money, which by the way was reasonable

For pub food it's well above average, the best dinner in Alstonville, there are some items that can be a bit hit or miss, stick with the classics and you'll have a quality meal. Feddy is a great option for both individuals and families alike.

Definitely worth a stop. Great sitting out the front on the picnic tables . Gold beer. Plenty of seating. Fantastic looking pub inside and out.

Strange place the federal, last meal we had there was the worst pub meal we have ever had - laksa was more like salty water, so after 6 months we tried again , lamb shank was good but chicken snitty and lamb cutlets were deep fried and chips were old and dry , salad was good ,as our local I would like to give it a better review but probably go to the tavern or several other places close by who really do it better.

I love this pub but the food service at the moment is a bit of a joke. A few weeks ago my partner and I ordered the 250g rump and added on the prawns in creamy garlic sauce for $8 so $37 in total. They obviously ran out of prawns because it came out as slices of calamari and those tiny shrimp prawns that you get in a chinese restaurant, it looked ridiculous. I really don't think its right to assume that a customer would be happy with calamari and baby shrimp when they ordered prawns...
The next three times I've been there I have ordered Schnitzel with mashed potato and it has come out with chips instead which I can't eat at the moment. If the kitchen runs out of something that's fine, as long as you get told at the time you are ordering so you can order something else. Or at the very least, they come to find you at your table number to let you know they have run out of that item and ask if you would like to order something else. I don't normally say anything but after the 3rd time of this happening I asked for a refund. The staff there are all really friendly except the blonde woman who was rolling her eyes and swearing under her breath at the fact that I was upset that I hadn't received the food that I ordered. She kept blaming it on the young staff (who are all great). Not sure what is happening in the kitchen at the moment but it is really letting the pub down.

Being a Local here, I like to support locals. Tonight I ordered the top "Winter Warmer" on the Chalkboard which did not fail one iota, Wagyu Beef 10/10 in Medallions With Potato Dauphinoise with Honeyed and Ginger Carrots & Sauce to match. Fair price for sheer quality of meal and credit to Chefs where due. Sapporo Beer in a Glass Mug went well also.

Was not a huge fan of what I ordered... Nachos, it was very bland. Recommend their pizza and burgers they looked awesome. Price is average $14 for kids meals, go on Sunday if u have little ones they eat free.

Beef nachoes had no beef in them, they were the size of a small dinner plate and were $25. When taken back the manager/owner was rude and abrupt and just shrugged saying well that's what it is, no offer of a replacement, money back, different meal. Nothing. Overpriced terrible meals. Definitely don't recommend plus their seating is extremely uncomfortable. Pity their isn't a nice pub in Alstonville.

Fantastic old style pub. Restored beautifully, great atmosphere. Awesome food and service. Was extremely busy when we were there and the meals still came out super quick. Definitely need to book as everyone seems to know how good this place is. We will be going back

Didn't seem too busy but food took a while. Fish was nice but both it and chips were only warm. Land cutlets were well cooked but the serving was quite small for the price.

My wife and I had a great lunch today at the fed. Great service also.

Weird atmosphere. Doesn't feel overly friendly Meals quite expensive. And closes quite early.

Fantastic meals. I had pumpkin chicken salad with honey mustard dressing. Full of flavour and beautifully presented. Compliments to the chef. Renovations are fantastic. Lovely atmosphere from start to finish. Thankyou.

We had to wait over 45mins for our meals - a bit longer than the 30mins we were warned about. However it was Mother's Day they were very busy. The food when it came was delicious, I had lamb cutlets with veggies which were cooked to perfection. Definitely would recommend, apart from the long wait.

Been here several times for a meal before the Covid close down and new Management a few times. The meal tonight being Scotch Fillet Veg & Mash did not disappoint with the Steak cooked tenderly with the usual Mushroom sauce I have with the on tap beer as well. Given it was well patronised, the wait was reasonable and service very welcoming and courteous.

Best lamb cutlets I have had in a long time. The Fed lives up to its reputation.

Excellent Pub in Alstonville, meals are a great size and the menu has improved. Can be slow on busy nights but overall a nice atmosphere and good food

Last night,(sunday ) I had the $15.00 Sunday roast, which included dessert. Truly magnificent. Today Monday I turned to again for the $15.00 "T" bone and salad. Well I don't know where they get their steaks from or who taught the chef to cook, I cant remember the last time I was served a steak as good. My sincere compliments to all concerned.Noel Hunter
