Sorry but no thank you. Save your money. I think it could be good for drinks but other than this the menu is a bit too hip or funky for me probably. Food was over one hour late. Nobody even apologized. Pizza came and was burned beyond recognition, when I complained the only reply I got was "that's how they come out". Soooo much black pepper on the top I could barely eat it. So much oil I couldn't keep the topping on the pizza. Had to eat the topping without the rest all by itself. Horrible service, horrible food!!!!

Chill atmosphere on a Friday night with seating both indoors and out. Ordered the grilled octopus which was delicious however the Patate E Formaggio (pizza with roast potato) lacked flavour.

Don't judge the outside of this place. The food is amazing and interiors full of different vibes. It's order and pay at bar so no table service

Stumbled upon this hidden gem in Surry Hills! ? it is actually such a nice restaurant/bar and is huge inside! Gives off a boho aesthetic and I adore the food here! The burrata was sooo good and paired so well with the focaccia. However I wished the focaccia was a tad warmer???" nonetheless still so good and OMG their pizzas are amazing! The dough is so airy and pillowy it's delish! And also the pasta is so well done too!?

Service and atmosphere are great. No complaints there.

The food is alright, but just a tad pricey. The pizza sauce and filling are good, but a tad too burnt for me. Like you'll get to a point where it just taste like burnt bread. The rest are alright.

this is the second time i have hosted a large group at the dolphin and i will definitely do it again. the events team is great and the whole booking/ organising process was a breeze. i requested a non exclusive space and we were placed in a practically private space with its own bar which was a lovely surprise. i loved that there was no set menu and all ordering could be done at the bar so no need for hassle splitting bills ect.. the food was also great, the pizza especially got a lot of compliments ! the only down fall was the bartender in our area was quite rude to myself and friends and made dealing with the tab quite difficult. I must however say the rest of the staff were extremely polite and accommodating, the food came out quick, the hostess was lovely and took the time to escort us to our space even though she was really busy and even the security were welcoming and greeted us on our way in and out. will definitely be coming back :)

Manager Attention: I went for dinner yesterday around 6pm, (first time visit) ordered some food and drinks, when I kindly reported there has lip mark on the wine glass i am fine with that the lady gave me attitude straight away and pour into another red wine glass in front of me and so rude. She needs to go home and get proper training of customer service.

Have started coming back here again after years. The food has improved outta sight. Its really good food! Service is spot on and the young team are more than happy to help you out - and usually super friendly. Glad we have discovered it again.

Not the great restaurant it used to be but it was open for lunch on a Monday, which is pretty unusual in Sydney. Seems to be drifting off to be mainly burgers and pizza now, so a limited menu currently though the food was excellent to be fair. Pleasant service but why can't you do split bills with only two credit cards involved, fair enough if doing a ten way split but only two? Weird music that was too loud as always. Strange spelling errors in wine list too that hint at reduced attention to detail.

I like this pub but the food has definitely gone downhill recently. We ordered the octopus plate this week and for $24 got two chunks of octopus...

Trendy pub, but still has all the pub staples. Overall a swell experience as they pour a cold pint and mix a solid cocktail. I left my phone here and managed to get it back so that also a positive. Super friendly staff and recommend dropping by for a cold one and meal. I'll certainly be back!

The Dolphin hotel has long been in Surry Hills and a popular venue for those that love a good meal and a drink or two. It is open 7 days a week for all day dining from midday til late. You can book or generally be pretty lucky with walk-ins. We often sit out the front on their long tables but there's also an indoor dining room, and outdoor space on the terrace upstairs as well as private spaces for functions.

We've recently been twice as we enjoyed it so much and have thus sampled lots of their food. The food ranges from quite upmarket dishes to pizzas and burgers and you can eat any of the food in any dining space. The indoors is more of an upmarket setting and a little more casual outside.

We began with a few small plates to share; San Danielle Proscuitto (aged 18 months), served with melon, as well as the whipped ricotta dip with Vincotto, roasted grapes lemon and olive oil. This pairs nicely with the fluffy foccacia and a glass of one of their natural wines or cocktails. Their margarita is excellent, a gin and tonic or even a negroni.
Moving on, light dish that can also be eaten as a starter, and one we quite liked is the grilled octopus with salsa verde, marinated nicely with green olives, white beans and herbs, and the octopus was nice and soft and had been prepared well.
The king prawn linguine was another great dish, beautifully cooked, flavoured with the Crustacean XO Butter and lemon, the linguine was superb and not too heavy which is good whilst you're out having a few drinks.

We had a really nice brined and roasted free range chicken; this method of cooking ensured it stayed super moist inside with a flavourful skin, served with polenta, tarragon and greens. A decent sized dish too.

The 450g T-Bone was a great option to share, the meet perfectly cook to our ordering requirements and served sliced with the bone. Just seasoned with olive oil, lemon and watercress, this is a really good meat.

Whilst you're there, it's highly recommended you get a pizza, and our choice was the Pepperoni Du Bufala - double pepperoni, tomato, fresh buffalo mozzarella and woodfired.

We ordered sides of broccolini with chilli and garlic as well as shoestring fries.

We finished off with their Delfina Tiramisu, a huge slice of coffee soaked Savoiardi, Tasmanian Mascarpone, Vanilla Bean, Marsala and Coffee Liqueur provides for a creamy and delicious dessert.

It really is a good space for a meal and catch up with friends.

A great local gem, with vast seating and dining options inside and outside. The street activation for dining was a great initiative and brings life to the street and corner.

I've only been to the dolphin hotel on weekdays, but it's always been buzzing. The salmon, prawn linguine and burrata are divine. The cheese platter (pictured) gave French dining vibes. Unfortunately both times I visited in the past month the pizza oven wasn't working. There was also only one bar where drinks could be ordered, so unsure why the other one was closed off.

Happy with meals however the staffs were not friendly at all.
Bartender seems like not pay attention to customers even wasn't busy, served me wrong drinks and just walked away.
Drinks variety was amazing but customer service wasn't great ;(

Great location , the place looks good, however the team need some serious training.

This place is huge! Heaps of levels, areas and rooms to sit with different vibes. I assume many of them can be booked out as well, so would be perfect for gatherings & events. The location is great too.

The decor is fun and really quite unique.
Staff are friendly and all around a pretty good crowd.

It can get quite busy at peak times and special occasions.

I love the Dolphin, went for a big ANZAC day here 2 years in a row and it has a great atmosphere even when nothing is on. The pizza here are delicious and they have an extensive wine list to choose from. The RSL sandwich for ANZAC day was unreal. Both upstairs and downstairs offer so much both with bars and toilets and all different seating areas. Glad I live close to The Dolphin

The restaurant has great atmosphere, amazingly good food and friendly service. The food is the stand-out feature: authentic, delicious and served within a short time. Very, very good.

Probably 12-15 min wait for bar service due to only one person stationed behind the bar. Too many glassies drifting around not being very pressed or productive. The bar manager came behind the bar, slowed his one barkeep down further by giving her a little lecture on drink garnishes, then walked out without rolling his sleeves up and pitching in. The situation was so ridiculous, I fell into a conversation with the guy next to me about how easy it would be to re-jig staff allocation to improve bar service. They're spending the money on enough staff, but not a genuine focus or regard for good service. Could so easily do better.

When you spend 2.5 hours in a pub only to then be told 'we are taking this table for a booking at 7.30' despite not having a reserved sign on it. We are apparently more than welcome to stand at the bar though according to the less than professional/aloof person that delivered the news.
First time here in a couple of years, wasn't impressed with the initial 10 min wait for a drink because they had 1 bar staff on.
If you like the pretentious pubs that have become more commonplace these days then come here. If you want a decent pub then give this a wide berth.
