Food was bland, vibe was great. Very easy place to sit and drink ... the secret room is a must find!!

The food and drinks were fabulous. Bartender Liam was extremely kind and accomodating. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back!

We drop by here some Thursday evenings from 7 pm for an easy bar meal and Karaoke. The Kareoke crowd is friendly and accepting. Wayne does a great job as the compare and is very friendly, welcoming, and accepting.

Wanted to go to a pub to watch the matilda's play sweden for third place with some mates, and I couldn't be happier with the place we chose. Great service, great prices for what you get (I paid 15 bucks for a good burger with a generous amount of chips) and a overall good atmosphere. Even though it was packed, I didn't wait long for food, and one of the waiters / bartenders Liam was absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend ??'?

Pool table, good music and the bartender with the mullet is a legend, give him a raise!

Local gem of a bar favoured by the locals. Come here and no doubt a friendly local will talk your ear off. Great staff too.

Thanks for being the only pub near the Town Hall that was opened from 26th to 30th December 2022, that allowed us Jazz Musos to have our post Jazz Convention performance wind down jam and drinks there.

I am not normally a sports bar person, but after the Nick Cave gig in Newcastle we couldn't find any other bars still open on a Wednesday night. We headed in to the Crown & Anchor for a nightcap and our bartender Chris was so fantastic we ended up staying till closing time. He's a fantastic asset to the business. We found him friendly, generous and accommodating and would actually return because of him. Next time we are staying in the area we'll check out the meals and accommodation as well. Thanks again Chris for a great finish to our night.

Such a great place if you're looking for a yummy dinner, every bite of food was delicious and the staff we're very friendly people. I definitely recommend trying this place if you are looking for a good pub feed in Newcastle :)

Crown and anchor have the most boss staff (especially Bubbles) that let us host a last minute poetry reading as part of National Young Writers Festival. Oh and did I mention they have karaoke? Great vibes and great drinks, definitely a bar to hit if you're in Newcastle. THANK YOU :) !!!

The staff at the Crown and Anchor are first class. They are friendly, attentive and very professional. The food is amazing! This pub is the best in Newcastle. if you apprecciate quality, come here you won't be disappointed.

Lived in Newcastle for over 30 years, been to almost every pub it has on offer, Crown and Anchor is definitely in my top 3. The bar staff are friendly and always up for a chat, food is on another level (especially the schnitty). Great for meeting people, couple of drinks, music sports etc. will be back!!! Great Atmosphere! Both staff and Management are always super friendly. I have organised many functions at this venue and am always impressed by the excellent service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue.

Love going into this place. Awesome option for an inner-city pub lunch for those who work or live in town. The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is relaxing and friendly. I've also been to a few of their stand-up-comedy and trivia nights which were a lot of fun.

Firstly I'd like to begin by saying the staff were absolutely LOVELY the girl on the bar when we checked in was the nicest person!
We stayed up stairs in the hotel and I have to say I am disappointed. Granted I only paid $89 so I'm both happy and unhappy, I think the place could have been a little better looked after, the bathroom was honestly gross I felt so uncomfortable in the shower and the floor was really slippery which isn't really anyone's fault.
The room was pretty basic, i was expecting a little more like those little soaps or at least a box of tissues given its winter.
Our windows didn't close properly which made it really cold through the night. I really wish I could say better things, because the staff were so nice but it was just really dodgy, unfortunately I don't recommend staying here, especially if you do have a bit much to drink, cause you won't be getting up those stairs half cut.

I had a fantastic meal in Newcastle last week. Great fresh cooked food from Brysons Slow Cookery Maitland is now at The Urban Bistro in the Crown & Anchor Hotel, bottom of the Hunter St Mall.
Highly recommend the Maple Smoked Short Rib. We were at the restaurant upstairs, and menu also available in the main bar.

Pub downstairs serves delicious food. However accomodation is typical of a budget motel with shared bathrooms. I stayed here with my boyfriend over New Years 2020/21.

We are planning a wedding here in August. The whole staff have been amazing, especially Kelsy, and we are looking forward to an unforgettable day.

Best pub in Newcastle. The staff and atmosphere have always left myself, family and friends with a great meal and experience. I always recommend family and friends to stay at the accommodation at the Crown & Anchor and they are never disappointed.

Booked in for a single busy night which was pleasurable. All the staff are very friendly and warmly welcoming as instantly I got along with a few of the female servers who directed me on hotel access and served me a beverage when I was downstairs (cant remember names but one was blonde.) The view was incredible from my room overlooking the wharf close by, the mattress was comfortable. Definitely would go back if I ever needed a place to stay in Newcastle.

We booked several rooms for Easter to go to a National championship. We paid over $2,000 deposit and was assured this was a 100% refund. COVID has forced this the Championships to cancel so we have attempted to make contact. We were told they would ring us. No phone calls. We have made over 10 phone calls, numerous emails but no answers or contact. This is not right and will be taking this further with ACCC Fair Trading and Ombudsman.

A great place for drinks with a casual atmosphere.It always draws a good crowd in, & is an enjoyable pub to frequent. They often have trivia nights, & there's seating outside.
