Felt like being in an airport terminal.

Couldn't escape the loud music as there are speakers everywhere.

Bar man was friendly though.

Not recommended. There are better pubs in Brisbane CBD.

Could do with a very large screen. Has lots of standard screens around 55". Good range of drinks at the bar. Fair prices. Good pub food.

Absolutely poor experience I had legal ID and they refused to let me in. I was very respectful and I go there very frequently. So rude and didn't give
Me a chance, I had legal iD and their system didn't work. I proceeded to go to other venues and I was able to get in. The "manager" said that it was a system issue but never rectified it. She was no accommodating and when she made the decision that my ID wouldn't work she was happy to lose me asa a customer. Very rude disgusting and disrespectful.

Sports betting corner a bit dingy

But restaurant and bar area had nice atmosphere

Bbq chicken wings delicious, and service excellent. Turned on volume of the AFL game when asked

A busy place with a great pub atmosphere. The staff were busy but helpful and friendly. There was a wide range of meals to choose from and plenty of tables, but maybe book ahead of time.

I visited Criterion, a place that markets itself as Showing The Big Games Live & Loud In The Street Bar. The food and service were passable, with the steak being a noteworthy mention. As for the ambiance, it aligns with what you'd expect from a pub - decent, underground vibes and a good location on George st. One of the better pubs in brisbane CBD for lunch or after work drinks.

However, my only grievance lies in their handling of sports broadcasting. Criterion boasts about being a sports bar big games live and loud on their website, but my experience during the NFL NFC Championship game was underwhelming. The game itself was a thrilling comeback story, but the lack of audio severely dampened the excitement. Imagine a room of sports enthusiasts going to your pub for NFL eyes glued to the screen, yet it is eerily silent - it's almost surreal.

I did approach the staff about this issue. Although they made an effort, the problem persisted. The absence of sound during a key sporting event is baffling, especially for a venue that claims to be a sports bar. This oversight significantly detracted from the overall experience.

In conclusion, if you're seeking a place to casually dine during lunch and have a beer with mates after work and maybe catch a glimpse of a big sporting event.Criterion is perfectly fine. But for those who are serious about enjoying sports in a lively, engaging atmosphere, this place might not meet your expectations. The silence during a major sports event is a deal-breaker for fans who expect a more immersive and energetic experience.

A good menu, but probably not the best you could find in the city - especially for the price. Service is great. The staff are awesome and helpful. It does get busy in the afternoon, but the patrons are usually awesome - just enjoying a drink after a long day.

While it can feel a bit like a dungeon the food here is good. During lunch rush the service lags a bit but otherwise this is a decent place for a meal in the city. Certainly is popular!

I lost over $5000 on the pokie machines their I swear on my dead brothers grave their something dodgy going on with the workers tampering with the machines as they don't pay out at all only in a blue moon you will see 1 person win and that's out of the one hundred times IV been their. Plus the place smells like fieces and real strong deodorant

Decent classic Aussie pub with good pub food to boot. Steak was yummy. No view etc but it does the job for a good feed and drinks after work.

Went to the pub for a drink with some friends after work. The service was not terrible but nothing to rave about.
I didn't eat anything so can't comment on the food. The atmosphere, the decor was very dated and run down. It's clear it hasn't had any investment in quite a while.

Absolutely bomb pie, can be a bit noisy though so it can be hard to talk to people

Great venue but food ordering is a nightmare!! I often come in for lunch and leave straight away when I see the long line. They either need a better process or ordering tags on the table like most other places. Great otherwise

My genuine opinion is that this pub is the best in the city. The staff are very friendly, and the food is exceptionally good and reasonably priced. the beer is always cold and the spescials are quite good too. The ambiance is fantastic, and the chef's specials are definitely worth trying. Jet, the security guard, is an great guy who appears to be acquainted with most of the regulars and is always available for a friendly chat!

Although it might become a bit noisy on a busy night, the outdoor area is significantly more tranquil. Overall, I thoroughly recommend this pub!

Great beer, quick service, friendly staff, terrible steak though. Asked for it rare-medium and came 'medium' well done, really tough and not tasty for a porterhouse. Who mucks up a porterhouse? Wouldn't normally ask for a refund but the gravy was all lumpy, such a shame. Unfortunately I was in a huge rush and couldn't wait for the manager to come out to organise a refund after waiting a while, you'd be better off eating at the subway next door.

Great place to stop in for lunch. Loved their $15 steak with chips and salad or chips and coleslaw. The meals were great sizes, hot and fresh. Steak was cooked exactly as each of us wanted it and lightly charred edges added extra flavour. The sauces are really yummy as well. The Garlic cream was smooth and great with my partners meal choice and the mushroom sauce was thick with large chunks of mushrooms which was a wonderful balance. Great selection of music, and the people around us made use of pool table and dart board and seemed to be having an enjoyable time. Staff were super attentive and friendly.

Waiting for a bus? May as well have a beer at the Criterion. Plenty of variety on tap. Had a Great Northern pint for $10. Sports bar for race results. Outdoor courtyard is my favourite.

Good little dive for a sports bar / pub lunch. Food is of a good standard. Seating is... what you'd expect from a sports bar - not ideal.. but great for larger groups.

50 mins, no meals (pie and a schnitzel) Friday lunch...sure busier, yet wasn't even started. Others had meals who ordered after. Meet with obnoxious manager when asked for refund. We had a meeting and unfortunately was lunch for my husbands birthday.

The rudeness will ensure we never return. Back to the Brunswick we go.

This establishment has been here for many, many, many years, it is a Brisbane institution!

Located on the corner of George and Adelaide Street, Criterion is a bistro with pokies and a restaurant/bar.

Our party of 3 arrived around 6:30pm on a Wednesday. Plenty of available seating. The place was clean and not too loud even though there were quite a few people.

There are always specials available for dining. Tonight was a blank Angus pie with chips. I had the chicken parmigiana with pineapple and chilli sauce - great combination of flavours.

Service was quick and staff are friendly.

Recommend visiting if you are looking for a good feed at reasonable prices.

Decent selection of drinks. Food menu is fine but dependent on the item. Garlic bread was an insult to the phrase, no taste of garlic nor butter, and too small for the price.

Had the chicken parmy for lunch. Surprisingly good and reasonably priced. Chicken seemed to be hand made/crumbed, nice rich sauce and lovely smoked ham. I would say more cheese wouldn't have gone astray. Although not affecting my rating, the service could have been better. Very indifferent staff that made it feel like serving you was interrupting them from something.

We stopped in for lunch. Good specials and a good selection of beers and other beverages. Quite busy on a Friday afternoon, and the quality and speed of the meals was no doubt why. I had the $15 rump steak special and it was quite good. Lots of tv screens if you want to watch some sport or need entertaining. Also a pool table. Good location close to the city.

If you are looking for a place to have drinks, watch sport, have a punt and some delicious food that wonu2019t cost you the earth, this watering hole is made for you! With the mighty Winx having her final race yesterday, we know the criterion would tick every box for us to have a great afternoon out. The atmosphere was electric, there were punters, stag do,couples and friends and families just enjoying themselves . There was music playing in the background but not too loud you canu2019t hear your own conversations, every sport playing on the many tvs spread throughout this bar/pub. The only disappointment was the Lions lost what was a winnable game, but that is hardly the Criterionu2019s fault . We had the delicious pepper steak pie with mashed potatoes, peas and smothered with gravy! Best value for money at only $14!! You must try this.

This place is like a fridge when you enter it. The line for food can be long (but happens to run along the bar so you can get a drink while you wait) and the food is pretty standard pub stuff. Good selection of beers on tap.

Good place for a drink to relax or head to the dining area for a good steak, which was done perfectly to my liking on my visit. Good ambience with different areas to sit and chill and watch sports events on the television. Waiters service is good too.
