Good food, good people. Also a good place to stay. Close to shops and services. It is our local and we love it!!!

It's an older pub refurbished some time ago. I found the room larger than most older places with the bed comfortable with clean sheets and room clean. The TV was a great addition. A mirror in the room would be handy. Concern over the warning in the room about changing the aircon apart from turning it OFF and ON that it would trip all aircon units which indicates bad and incorrect wiring which i assume could be a potential fire hazard. Another concern was water where mngt asked we take 5 min showers and use half flush. No shampoo is provided and this may be to help save water. Bathrooms require maintenance. The accommodation area is secure with onstreet parking only available. The passageway lights could be auto dimming at night. Although the appearance of cold beer by looking at the iced taps, you won't be fooled when you receive your beer and it's warm half way through it. Chilled glasses and letting the warm beer from tap run into tray before filling the glass would help, same as adjusting the beer temperature would help. But that cuts into profits and that appears to be the focus. To me it was worth the experience for the night. With a few adjustments this could be a great stay. It is in an interesting town with good people.

The Hotel is on the Main Street of Wellington so not much to see. The inside dining room is dark and dingy but the outside courtyard area is lovely.

We shared seasoned fries and salt and pepper calamari. The calamari was melt in your mouth and the chips had just the right amount of crunch. Lovely friendly staff at the bar and in the dining area.

Recommended for outside eating

When out to dinner with family. Meal was very good. Cooked perfectly. Value for money. Highly recommend.

Due to understaffing we had to wait a few minutes before being able to place an order.
My husband's soup was very nice. Staff were friendly.
My steak was undercooked. I pointed out that I had asked for medium well done and they offered another piece. I said I did not mind what they did as long as I got a cooked piece of steak. They came back later with a fresh plate of food and had cooked another piece of steak as compensation for the first one being under done.
Very nice of them indeed. However, I was glad they did because the original piece was tough.
They were very busy and appeared understaffed. A common problem at the moment.

Great menu. Cold beer. We only went for a decent feed. And walked away happy.

From the quality of the service to the prompt availability of food, the great portion and value for money, needed a knife and fork to get thru this burger, it's a meal on it own, great thick Pattie's and quality vegetables

I booked a King Single room for a night while travelling through. Check in was trouble free but it would have been nice to have been given a head's up about the smells associated with apparent water damage when handed the key instead of finding this out for myself. Thankfully my room didn't smell and the bed was comfortable. Bathrooms though could do with some maintenance. Overall slept well and left refreshed.

I read the reviews and was excited.

The snitzel was double fried, gravy was some powdered rubbish. My wife ordered the on special curry, it came to our table by a lovely waitress. The small amount of rice had us ask the waitress how do we go about getting some more rice? she asked the head chef and he said we must line up again to get more rice. Attached is a pic of the line we must endure to get a little more rice. I'd give the waitress 5 stars and the head chef a kick in the shins if I could. Now I know where all the frozen curries and powdered gravy went from the shelves at Coles and Woolworths.

Probably the best value of Pub meals in the central west. Unique menu for a pub! Very creative dishes. I'm just finishing off grilled Lime lamb cutlets with fresh couscous and garden salad warm.
To my relief they're not deep-fried , as most cutlets are. Best tasting meal I've had for months whilst working away from home.
It's worth a visit, transit stopover.

food was good, lamb cutlets and veg, room, not cheap but definitely not worth the money.. small tv, noisey pigeons, and the bathrooms.. my advise make sure you use them early.. toilet was, disgusting, sink full dirty

Nice place but no off Street parking so you are leaving your car on the main street overnight if security is important to you. The rooms are well finished but bathrooms and showers are shared and we're a distance from my room.. Quite a few flights of stairs to get to the rooms for those who find stairs problematic. Good food and menu available

For a quick stop along your way this is a good place to stop. Although located at a roundabout on the highway there was little traffic noise. The bathrooms have been refurbished and nice. As we arrived late we missed having dinner here. The service was good, too.

Great friendly staff, nice pub. But dont order a mixed grill. Absolutley terrible. Steak was full of grissle, and looked like it was precooked and just reheated (just warm), same with sausage and rissole that were both very dry. Forgot the onion and gravy as stated on menu. Paid $5 for an extra sauce that wasnt hot. All up was $45 and not worth half that. Chips were good, most of the meat stayed on the plate uneaten

But dropped in for lunch, it was delicious. The staff were friendly.
The place is so clean. Has the feel of a family friendly place. Want to go back in summer to take advantage of the outdoor area. Loads of street parking.

The 3 good sized lamb cutlets were fantastic. Would recommend you stop in for the food. Also friendly staff and great dining area.

Didn't know what we wanted and then I saw this place. So, what to have? Salad of course! The Chicken Mexican salad was filled with all sorts, corn, black beans, onion, spinach, corn chips and an awesome dressing. The Caesar was just as awesome. They apologised that there was a lettuce shortage so it was smaller than normal. Cripes! I would hate to see the normal size! Staff are friendly and helpful. They put the dressing separately as requested. And the chips were crispy yummy. A hood lunch stop-in!

We loved it. We stayed over and the accommodation was so comfortable, clean and authentic as it was a real country pub experience. Also we had dinner and drinks there. The food was fantastic. The staff were all so professional, well presented and friendly. We definitely recommend it.

The food here is always great and the portion sizes are enormous. The staff are friendly and service is great. I'm a regular at the Cow & Calf.

Rooms are refreshing and clean. Bed was nice and comfortable. Shower areas are plenty and big, and the shower was 9 out 10. Pub us clean and inviting with very friendly staff.

Great accommodation and good pub food. We enjoyed a couple of nights here.
Wellington is a good place for a break.

We were told we'd get a good meal here and we weren't disappointed. The brisket was full of flavour and fell apart. So yummy. My scotch fillet was cooked exactly right, med-rare, which sounds easy but I am usually disappointed. Thanks for a lovely evening.

I was the first to order my meal (a chicken burger) on my table. It took an HOUR to arrive after being chased up when all other meals arrived. The cook insisted that she had not forgotten it, but that it took longer than the other meals to prepare. The poor girl who took my order then asked if I wanted a coffee or beer to apologise and to have while I waited. I said that I would have a beer, but she then came back to tell me that I could only have a coffee and not a beer.Everyone else on the table had finished their meals by the time mine arrived.I would strongly recommend choosing another hotel in Wellington if you want a meal, the rudeness of the cook and dismissive behaviour was simply shocking.
