Outstanding service from Matty this afternoon. After a stressful day he left our table with an absolute uplift in spirits and put the biggest smile on our faces. He presented well, had outstanding customer service skills and was overall an absolute gem in accommodating my table. Will definitely be back for more positive vibes! Well done Matty!!

I recently dined at The Colonist with a group of friends, and we were all thoroughly impressed. We ordered a chicken schnitzel, roast pumpkin salad, steak sandwich, and chicken burger. We were all very pleased with our meals, and the portion sizes were perfect.

The restaurant itself had a charming atmosphere. The walls are adorned with beautiful paintings, that really compliment the ambiance. The service was attentive and friendly, and the prices were quite reasonable for the quality of the meals.

Overall, I highly recommend The Colonist for a delicious and enjoyable dining experience. The combination of delectable food, a charming atmosphere, and friendly service makes it a great place to catch up with friends.

Great hotel with the best staff. Always friendly, knowledgeable and they go above and beyond to make people feel welcome and looked after. Cannot recommend another hotel more than The Col on The Parade. Such a different mix of patrons makes it very comfortable for females I've found. Can be super busy when the Norwood football finishes!

The atmosphere is quirky, the staff were excellent and the food delicious. There is a new menu. I had the mushroom fettuccine, which was lovely and a generous portion. The deserts are huge and 2 vegan options. They've added their own spin to the traditional banana split and chocolate sundae but oh so yummy. I suggest sharing between 2 or 3 people. Thanks Jason and crew for a great evening.

Went for lunch on Father's Day, and I had a great time. Good service and food, too.
Kid's meal-fish and chips, fish was melting in mouth and could tell wasn't a cheap drozen fish served.
Nice spot away from the busy The Parade, but it's still pretty cool and has its own parking, too

Ordered rib eye steak shared between 2 for $94. You get 2 extra sides in addition to the 500g steak, fries & salad. We got the broccolini in cashew cream + basil tomato salad. Tbh wasn't expecting much from pub food but it blew our socks off. Restaurant quality, steak cooked to perfection as what we ordered. Both the sides are highly recommended. Fries were a bit blonde. Gravy was good. Cocktails were delicious. I must say pricing was quite high for a pub meal & atmosphere.

Took the family out for lunch. Great selection of kids options (lunch and brekkie) and the brunch for the parents was top notch (we got the hash) and offered gluten free alternatives. Service is always great. Ate in the heated outdoor space.

Food was excellent, if a little pricey. I had Wagu Ragu gnochi that was tasty and worth the $33 I paid. Bread and butter pudding at $12 was very reasonably priced and tasted great. All nicely presented. The service was excellent. The young lady who served us was friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back.

I have loved the Colonist for years however the past few months have had disappointing experiences. Booked over the phone the day before for breakfast in January only to show up to a closed pub & told they no longer do breakfast.

Was excited to go back today for brunch but really disappointed again. We were one of the first tables to order but waited 30 minutes for a cup of tea and 50 minutes for food. The only reason given was there was only 1 chef on which we were only told after I followed up after 40 minutes. The food was good in the end but $18 for 2 pancakes is ridiculous.

A pub with character. You don't get to say that often these days. The food is delicious with a good variety and options for dietary requirements. Excellent vibe with friendly staff. Can sometimes be very noisy in the dining areas due to the lack of soft furnishings.

The new interstate owners overcharge and provide less food than previously. A bottle of Bird in Hand bubbles is now $63, not $45, as per nearby establishments. Sad to have to abandon my favourite local 😢 and seek other pubs...

Good place to drink and eat. However, the food prices are very expensive. There are car parks but they're limited. Side street car parks are timed.

What a great little pub. Such a nicely decorated interior and great atmosphere!

Prices are a little bit on the pricier side but food quality is really great and the customer service is very good too.
Highly recommend

I'm disappointed.
The Colonist used to be me and my family's favourite place, because of the absolutely amazing prawn crab linguine! But since the menu has changed, the dish has been completely ruined. The dish was the best seafood linguine I have ever had, the chef is still great, but the new menu is subpar.
I hope the new owners take this into consideration, as I know many people who also agree with this review, it would be great to see the menu changed back.

Firstly this rating is base completely on the Food. The atmosphere of the pub itself is quite nice and there was nothing wrong with the beer. Unfortunately the food was probably one of the worst meals I had in Adelaide. My Wagyu beef burger was so overcooked it wasn't funny. Bun was dry fries were uncooked almost see through. My friend's chicken schnitzel was also way cooked. There was pretty much nothing right with either of these meals . The fact they were 25 and $30 each it was really disappointing that they don't have their quality up to standard

We hosted my father's wake at The Colonist last year, as it was a sentimental spot for us, and I couldn't recommend them enough! All the staff were so helpful, kind and professional, and the it was such a lovely way to commemorate and celebrate. Thanks so much for hosting us! Oh and your weekend breakfast is fantastic ☺️ Keep up the good work!

Very busy on a Friday evening got sat outside. A bit chilly no heaters on. Food was well cooked and the chicken schnitzels and chicken parmigana were very tasty. The grilled fish was cooked well and the salad was fresh.

Booked a table well ahead of time, arrived on time and they had sat someone on our table. Staff were whispering and we were eventually told that we had a table outside they they had quickly snuck a reserve sign onto. The table outside was covered in water from the rain and far too close to others during COVID restrictions. End result was we left... no apology or ownership of wrong doing. We were even happy to wait 20 minutes and they told us no. Unreal.

So I have been here a couple of times with my mum. I really do like the food here. I strongly recommend the arancini. They have such delicious flavours. My favourite is the mushroom one with blue cheese sauce. Omg so good. I ordered the crispy squid salad and my mum got the fish and chips. They both came with interesting salads and the sauces where also very nice. I had some sort of habanero zesty aioli and it was very spicy. Also I found the cuts of squid in triangles very unique.

It is quite pricey but it is really good food. If you can I'd done outside it can be a bit dark inside, it doesn't have great natural lighting indoors, it can feel a bit dingy but that's just a personal preference mine.
