We thought Karen's dinner had taken over the bar. Unhelpful and unfriendly bar staff. In fact, outright hostile to customers. This is one regular visitor to Maclean that will never return to this establishment and will not be recommending it to my friends whilst under the current management. A blight on what was another great weekend.

First time visiting all the way from Perth, Western Australia with my partner who grew up in Maclean. The way the staff publicly handled a situation with family and in front of young children while we were just wanting to have a quiet dinner was embarrassing and upsetting for us all. The food was also of a very poor standard considering the price. I will never come back here, and will drive out of town for a meal if needed.

Great outside eating area at the back and the food was a great price and very good medium/rare steak done as requested. Would definitely come back.

Haven't been here for quite a few years since just after the storm damage. Food was always good here. Ordered the Wednesday steak special. Asked for medium rare and they did not disappoint. Was cooked perfect. And the pepper sauce was on point too. Sorry for no photo of it. But I did get a photo of the mud cake and icecream dessert.

Stayed overnight Saturday having dinner and a few beverages the room are pub rooms but modern as you can have in 100 year old pub rooms have TV fridge upstairs lounge and new showering amenities, the food is very good I had a 400gm t-bone medical rare one of the most flavour and tender I've had and a good bottle of wine the Maclean hotel is worth a weekend stay on the river and heaps to explore the lookout good and Tooheys Old on tap a ?

Outside was the river which didn't have the best view but you could still see part of it and there was a nice breeze on the deck. But the food was horrible. Chips tasted dry and uncooked, vegetables were hard as rock, clumps of powder in the gravy, schnitzel was a small size - seemed homemade, the food sizing all together was very little. Cutlery was unclean and rusty. One of the workers was wearing a short ragged black denim skirt with socks and cheap slides, which seemed a little unprofessional. Honestly was a disappointing experience.

If you have any standards, don't bother with a meal here.
2 meals ordered - one steak and one supposed fresh swordfish.

The steak was ordered medium rare with mash and veg. It came out medium well in the most rare parts. The veg consisted of one snow pea, one piece of bean, one small piece of cailiflower and frozen peas and corn.

The swordfish was half size at best, and shaped exactly the same shape as frozen swordfish pieces. Was meant to come with chat potatoes which turned into frozen French fries. The salad was a tablespoon of shredded carrot from a bag, 2 lettuce leaves, 4 slices of cucumber and a couple of slices of onion.

Definitely not what we ordered and definitely not what we expected.

And the waitress who cleared our plate - "I'll let them know". Clearly they didn't care, because no-one came to see us.

Don't waste your time or money.

On the positive the beer and garlic bread were good.

Great country town pub, just how they should be. Great local staff who greet you with familiarity. Rooms are what pub rooms should be - a bit ramshackle but comfortable and clean

Good place to meet friends for a catchup and dinner. Meal was well prepared, quick and fresh, but a little disappointed in one small half piece of flathead. Enjoyed the great service service from smiling staff, though.

We stopped for lunch. Dirty cutlery, very average food requiring numerous toilet stops on the way home. We wanted to support a local small business but we wished we went to Maccas instead. Not us again.

Went there for lunch. Food was great and good size. Service was friendly and efficient. Cost reasonable.

Great location food beverages and service room was good and shared ammenities best I have used anywhere great hot shower and attention to cleanliness loved the washer and towel combo Will be staying again and highly recommend for those looking for value great food and atmosphere

Best pub meal I think I have ever had. Big hearty portions and excellent value for money. Recommended.

Had microwave meals with more flavour, Fries weren't cooked properly, portion sizes are below average but not offensive, atleast the water is free

How can you work in hospitality and assemble a salad so poorly

Dropped in for a drink. Great location with outdoor area overlooking the river. Nostalgic interior.

Visit here every Friday for lunch great meal every time but would like to see a different menu every now and then

The best lamb cutlets, really nice vegetables. Just passing through but highly recommended.

Beds were comfy and clean, pillows were nice.
Room was reasonably spacious. Old decor and lacking an iron.
Everything was clean and tidy and there was minimal road noise and no other noise from guests.
Would go back.

Good old traditional country pub. Friendly hard-working staff. Accommodation is being upgraded and the bathrooms are brand new and looking fantastic. Book ahead as they have a lot of regular guests.

As all pubs & restaurants they have their ups n downs. But - their gluten free medium pizzas are exactly that - gluten free.
And, their salt n pepper squid is right on too.
And, we're locals & just need a takeaway meal occasionally.
Good variety with specials plus pizzas. Pretty good pub!

Stopped in a bit early for the Tuesday special of Snitz, chips and salad.
They amazing staff slipped us in a bit earlier than 5.30 and we sat down and totally enjoy our meal. The staff were friendly and so polite.
Will definitely be back.

Beautiful old pub. Stopped in for a quick drink. Beautifully restored inside. Daily lunch special. Today was chicken schnitzel chips and salad for $12. Massive outdoor deck looking out at river. Great place.

Ordered: two steaks and American style buffalo wings.

Excellent steak cooked rare to perfection. Chips were nice and crunchy. Salad was fresh, cucumber logs were definitely noticeable.

Buffalo wings were juicy and the sauce was delicious! While the herb aioli was nice, it would be a real treat with blue cheese sauce.

All in all, a lovely meal.

Good bistro with daily specials. Plenty of different areas to eat and drink including a very large rear deck. Only a couple of beers on tap. The only pub in town at the moment.

The wait staff were extremely helpful and kind and a special shout-out to the Chef Ken who came out to speak to us and went out of his way to make our vegan son a meal not on the menu (which was not a hassle to him at all) which was full of flavour and filling!! Very much appreciated!
