Have been to this pub quite a few times in the past and generally love the vibe and the food. Was really disappointed to find that during our visit today, the vibe was low, staff were just doing time and the food did not reflect value for money. Very shabby meals for the price. The ground beef in the nachos was very unpalatable, cheap, nasty flavour. The chicken schnitzel was close to half the size of anywhere else. The bread on the toasted steak sandwich was like dried out bread, barely toasted. The place is usually buzzing with ppl on a weekend but numbers were very low today. Makes me wonder if others have opted to go elsewhere. Shame. . . ?

Like every other tourist and local in the area, we peeled off the beach and grabbed lunch at the pub on a hot Saturday afternoon in January holidays.

It was super busy, not just beach goers, but bike groups too. The food came out quicker than expected (we'd only just got our drinks from the bar!). Portions were good. Fish and chips were fine, and the Hawaiian burger was great. I think prices were about $20 - 25 for most of the pub classics. Big beer garden out back. Fenced kids play area, but it's in the sun.

I ordered a chicken schnitzel w garlic prawn topper and I was so disappointed. The chips had no salt, I was told they don't salt as you're expected to do it yourself?? Sauce was bland and the veggies were frozen, looked like veggies served at a nursing home. When my meal was taken back, the manager was extremely rude and offered a partial refund ($13!!) for a meal that cost me over $30 that I had 3 bites of. Such a shame this pub has the potential to be so much better, but management and the quality of food really hinders that.

We had lunch there yesterday and ordered chicken schnitzel with chips, which was delicious.

Afterward, we went to the bar and got a few drinks. However, one of the girls at the bar was not very friendly. She did not greet us or thank us after we paid. Instead, she just gave us the EFTPOS machine and walked away.

Perhaps she needs more customer service training. Not going back again.

Stopped in a couple of times over the weekend with my mum and her friends for her 60th birthday. Super friendly and fun staff ready for a chat and a laugh, great service and delicious food. Servings are large and cooked perfectly. If ever in the area, I would recommend stopping in for a great pub grub and a few drinks and a yarn.

Quaint Aussie pub, lots of history and photos around the walls. Interesting fact first indigenous publicans to be granted a liquor licence in the 1970s. Only had a beer can't comment on the lunch

Absolutely ??'?!! This place and town is amazing, so picturesque and the food is amazing. The salt and pepper squid was the best I have had even though it lacked a little on the 'pepper' side the tenderness made up for it. My wife had the Thai beef salad which she also rated highly. When done eating don't forget to to do a walk along the beach below the old pier. Well worth it. The area is (mostly) untouched by development. Don't miss it if nearby. It's like a jump back in time.

Not only was this my first time being here, it definitely won't be the last. The burgers were as fresh as burgers should be. The Chicken Deluxe burger was amazing, all the flavours they had combined together made it the best experience. The Fish burger had fresh fish and that's rare nowadays, it was lightly battered and fluffy inside and the homemade sauce it came with just topped it all off. The environment is peaceful and just a walk up the road from Catho Beach meaning you can stop by for lunch or dinner on your way back from having a nice swim.

Old school pub with a relaxed vibe. Food and price is also amazing. I wish I had photos of the calamari because it was beautiful. Friendly staff and plenty of room for the kids out the back. Well done

Always a great feed but today was spectacular. Both of us had the sirloin special (1 with garlic prawn topper; so yum!) and the steak just melted in your mouth.

Food was amazing, and value for money! It's always nice when such a historic place has fantastic food and service to boot. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu ?

The Catho . What can I say . Just when you think all pubs have gone yuppy and hipster, you get to the Catho . A real country pub right on the coast . No bells and whistles here . Just a great pub experience. Absolutely love the place. Been calling in here for about 40 years and nothing much has changed and that's what makes it so good.

Good food and drinks at reasonable prices. Historic area to visit with a great beach and headland walks.

The only place that serves food in Catherine Hill. Okay prices. Food was okay, but not good or great. History is interesting.

What a cute little place to visit. Old school pub, arrived a bit too late for the lunch time slot. But looking forward to returning one day to try the menu.. nice front verandah to sit out and enjoy a drink or 2, quiet street that I presume leads down to a beach.. very clean restrooms and friendly staff. Cute place.

Nice cold beer, great historical pub with plenty of character. Awesome spot for a beer, but will never try the food again. This place could be something special if they could serve up something that resembles a good meal. Nasty food im affraid to say, eaten here twice now to give it the benefit of the doubt but no luck. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE up the food game.

Authentic older coastal pub. Extensive outdoor area or sit on front verandah. Great food but a bit pricey. Good beers on tap.

Lovely spot great service at bar and bristo. Visited this spot many times, lived in area. Food quality is say average, that's being generous. Needs to renew outdoor furniture and upgrade food quality. Lovely spot with great potential.

The Catho Pub is a quaint little pub located in a really great small town location. It was a really nice drive in to Catherine Hill Bay with many renovated historical little houses lining the streets in the way to the pub.
The Pub itself was nicely decorated and had a nice feel of a "small local pub".
Plenty of COVID-safe markings and signage, and checking in was as easy as most places. The staff were friendly, and helpful and they had what seemed like a nice range of wines, and also some good beers on tap.
The main reason I've only given it 3 stars was because of the food. I was with a friend, who ordered the steak, veggies and mash. They were out of mash so she ordered chips instead. That wasn't a huge deal, but when the meal was served, the "veggies" were about a cup's worth of frozen diced carrot, peas and corn. It was quite an underwhelming dish for the $32 she paid. I had a forkful of the veggies and they treated exactly like what they were. On the upside, the medium rare cooking of the steak was nicely done.
The works burger I ordered was quite nice and the chips were cooked well. It was certainly a nice place to visit, just the 'restaurant order regret' was sitting quite high after getting the steak.
I'll most likely to back. It's a beautiful place to visit, but I'll be looking quite closely at the menu next time, and maybe taking note of some other dishes that end up on other tables.

Great old pub. Staff are friendly. Live music on the weekend is a nice touch. Plentiful seating outdoors and a good area for children to run around and in.

The food is proper pub grub. It's not outstanding food but it's a decent feed and reasonably priced (28 for a dozen oysters and 60 for a seafood platter for 2) so no complaints here. It's a pub they way a country pub should be
