A local who have visited this establishment a number of times each time with mixed feelings.

Went their for dinner on Saturday night and realised price was higher when I ordered. When I questioned it, I was advised there is a surcharge. I pressed them on it as there is no mention of it on any menu nor advertised in the pub. They said it was because they have a band later but refunded the surcharge.

As we waited for our food, the manager/owner walked past, and we asked her why she is illegally charging surcharges without advertising it, as customers should be able to make informed decisions.

She got aggressive and said I am not talking to you and told us to F off. At no point did we swear or show any aggression towards her. She then proceeded to get the other owner and security. The other owner, without asking what happened said " you don't treat a lady like that. Give them their money back and they can f off". We hadn't even finished our first drink and at no time were we abusive to the female owner. Even the security guard and regular manager were shocked by their response.

This is how they treat locals. 18 other pubs in the area. Choose wisely.

Good food, and the renovated side is lovely. The pub part is quite grubby in comparison.

I'd go more often if the food was a little more affordable and they offered takeaway, as the nice part of the venue is often closed.

Had a great dinner last night with friends including 3 younger Adults.
They all loved the pizzas - they rate them very highly and I was very happy my fish.
Service was provided with a relaxed smile and we scored a goodbye drink with the very friendly bar manager!!

We have been to Cat and Fiddle a lot over the years - as a Balmain local - and it has never disappointed us....:)

Ordered a schnitzel and it was super overcooked. It was a dark brown. I still gave it a go and it was tough and hard as it looked. I was amazed the cook let it go out like that. I was hungry and it had a nice sauce on side so I ate it. On reflection I should have sent it back.. it's the first bad schnitzel I can remember having.. it was very dark brown on edges as well.. really obvious that it was overcooked. I think $28....Pizzas looked nice. Bar service great. Atmosphere seems good to me...some ongoing food prep issues I think..?

We recently had our Christmas party at the entrance of Rita's restaurant, where we wanted people to mingle and not be sitting all night. This was certainly the perfect location for 27 people! We chose the $55 canape menu and people purchased their own drinks from bar. There was an abundance of food, where people took home left overs, Sam the chef tailored food for our food intolerances and the staff were a delight!
We would certainly consider having another function here again. Thank you to Jennifer and her team on a wonderful evening!

This used to be a favourite. Today, they didn't have two dishes on the specials list and it was only 12.30pm and only one other table of 4 in the restaurant. We ordered the crab linguine. Almost an hour later the waitress advised us the order voided. She was only just telling the kitchen of our order then. The pasta was under cooked. We couldn't taste any crab, we weren't offered table water, or a spoon for the pasta. Completely disappointing. Will not go back. If you are after a great pub menu go to The Palace. Amazing every time.

"Tu me fatigues" has been the most amazing bar servant. Fulfilled my order's at such as fast pace I couldn't even flirt with my Tinder date. 10/10 would recommend, crazy sense of urgency and highest quality drinks.

I'm really not sure whether to be angry or amused. I walked into this Balmain bastion yesterday evening to buy a bottle of wine to take away and was informed by the lovely and very polite barman that the takeaway price was exactly the same as they drink in price - that is about 2.5x what one would ordinarily expect to pay. So I walked down and had a chat with the lovely Deano in the Sacky, got a lovely bottle of Riesling and spread the word about the price gouging behaviour of the Cat and Fiddle. You are taking the proverbial my friends!

Disappointing evening.

Decided to visit on a weeknight, biggest mistake ever... There were 7 tables at the time, 4 of us had problems related to food (either food arrived late or totally missed items from the table) and staff did not know how to do 'damage control'; I don't blame them, clearly there is lack of training, no visible management and communication needs to improved.

Waited 35 min for 1 lasagne and 1 steak (med-rare) , walked up to the bar counter to alert staff, however, they blamed it on the lasagne (unsure why, since there should be several portions already in the fridge and all you have to do is heat it up?)
Anyways, waited another 10 minutes but as there was no visible food coming, stood up and left ...

Great tasty pizza, delicious, good atmosphere, once you start eating your pizza can't stop, So GOOD. OMG. Best pizzas I have ever had.

What a great local and easy going pub! Friendly and welcoming service with good value for money food selections. The fish stew was a hot favourite at the table and my steak was done just medium rare, the way I ordered it! We will be back again soon!

I stopped by for lunch whilst working in the area. I discovered a little gem. Great food, friendly bar staff. Great experience! Will be going back with the family.

Simple effective bar service at 7pm sunday.
Brisket Burger and chips was great. Hot crispy chips like one rarely finds.
32.50 for a beer and burger.
Nice quite venue space out the back.
Lovely.

Brilliant place with great staff. Especially that guy, Brendan, who is equally proficient behind the bar as he is out the front playing a guitar and singing. Food is lovely too.

Excellent food in the restaurant. The best prawn pasta I've had in absolutely ages for a really respectable price. Our other dishes were superb as well, bread and scallop starters ??

Service was really good too - the food arrived quickly and nothing disappointed.

Menu was limited whilst friends of the owners were getting much better meals. There were no appetisers on the menu.
Salad is just plain iceberg lettuce red onion and cucumber.

Went to Rita's Bar & Kitchen for the first time for a work Christmas party - such a beautiful space! We shared a delicious banquet. The pizza chef is amazing, too

We played here last Saturday for a 30th birthday and it was a lot of fun! The place was good and spacious. Our client enjoyed the night. Thank you Nicole and team for all your help! Looking forward to more events here!

Cocktails - OMG!
Food - delicious! The pizzas were wow, can't find genuine flavour like that any more. Loved everything about it. Will be back with the kiddies for lunch one day.

Had Father's Day Lunch at C&F. Crazy busy day for the pub but they still manage to deliver quality food without too much of a delay. Well done guys. I'll be back for sure.

The chef made a mistake with my pizza and instead of adding goats cheese and pine nuts, he made 2 pizzas. They offered to fix it for me and I said it was all good. They were very apologetic and ended up giving us the 2 pizzas (for the price of 1) and another round of drinks for free. Great customer service here and I will definitely return and recommend.

Restaurant: Family oriented dining - bustling and noisy with lots of big groups on the Saturday night we were there. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Much better than your standard pub fare (though the expected burgers, steaks etc. are available too)

Went on a Tuesday night where they have a limited menu of a small selection of pizzas and pasta for $15 dollars. Ordered on pasta and one pizza and loved the food. The wood fired pizza was lovely and soft inside and crisp on the outside and generously topped. Loved it.

Real good wood fired pizza. The pie gravy could be thicker but they are very tasty.

Pate and rump steak were pretty good. Chicken parmigiana could have been better. Decor is nice and good selection of commercial/mainstream beers

Came in for a quick snack, ordered salt n pepper squid, 25min later still no squid. Thought maybe they went to catch the squid but no it was definitely from the freezer. To top it of there was maybe 10ppl in the pub n everyone else already had their food so not like the kitchen was flat out. Guess wont be coming back in a hurry. Shame really, its looks like a great spot n we just moved round the corner.
