Amazing staff and service, proprietor is a kind person who is happy to accommodate your requirements.

Food is good pub food and the beers they have on tap are excellent. Definitely recommend the stout.

Fireplaces are warm and it's extremely cozy in winter.

Great food, extremely hospitable staff and a cosy vibe with cheerful fires and good beers on tap. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

Stopped in for a quick ale, friendly staff and some good local craft beers on tap. Nice warm fireplaces to deal with that winter chill. Still some renovations going on but going to be a great country pub when full finished. Will be back to try some lunch.

We were travelling through on motorbike and we found this little gem. We arrived after a long ride and had an arrival beer in front of an open fire before we said we had a room booked. We were shown the lock up garage to park the bikes and were given a tour of the venue and shown our room. When we came down for dinner all the tables in the bar were occupied or reserved so we grabbed a drink at the bar and were quickly told by the manager Benny that our table was in the window corner, just one of the small welcoming touches the Royal provided. We were also lucky enough to catch the Makers Market hosted in the beer garden which had a great range of locally crafted goods. I would very enthusiastically recommend this hotel to anyone (food also amazing!)

Rode in at 3pm thinking we'd missed the kitchen. Was still open, so tried the steak sandwich. Possibly the best I've ever had, as were the chips. Can't wait to come back for more

Stopped in for lunch before heading out to Turon Gates. Great coffee. The steak and chips were awesome. Asked for medium-rare and that's what I got! Chips were extra crunchy.

Delicious food! And a great place to stop over and rest in. Ethan helped organise a cosy room to stay the night which allowed us to have a safe journey back north.
Thank you Ethan and Benny for a great experience. We will be back!

We had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful hotel for lunch today. I had the salt and pepper squid. It was delicious. The best I have ever eaten. Divine. We met the chef Brendan who produced our beautiful meals. What a delightful gentleman. Such an asset to the hotel. Definitely will be back.

Absolute understanding of the personal touch. A word, a smile. So very welcoming.
The food is basic pub food but well served and excellent to eat.
The pub has accommodation though we were out back in a well kept carpark and grass area in the motorhome.

Fantastic place to stop. Great food. Generous people. Allowed us to park the campervan for nights. Buy a drink or a meal. They leave the bathroom open and offer toast and cereal for breakfast as well.
Our meals were splendid. Hot chips to die for.
Just ask if you can see.

Great atmosphere, nice and cosy with the fireplace on inside.
The food is amazing - we had the beef burger and the chicken parmigiana and both were off the hook delicious.
Free camping for the night out the back of the property when you support the pub. So just grab a few drinks and/or a feed and enjoy a nice quiet stay out the back.
We will be back!!

Very nice conversation with the proprietor and his wife, a nice clean room, and an electric blanket on the bed: a touch of genius, I'd say as the outside temperature was below zero. Oh yeah, and an enjoyable, well poured beer. Would come back soon if I could, and definitely would recommend it to people I like. It's best to come inquire about the prices in person, though. The single room cost just sixty per cent of the price quoted online.

Dropped in for lunch on a whim today and can't fault the food. Chicken parmigiana was super tasty, chips perfect, mushroom sauce full of flavour and so good to get a salad with dressing on the plate. Nothing worse than a bland salad. Hubbie had the beef burger and he loved every bite. We will be back soon.

Great country pub with excellent service
Arrived too late to enjoy a meal but the hospitality of bar staff and new owner exceptional. Will try and make this my go holiday pub for adventures in the area. It has it all, great menu, cold drinks, brilliant outdoor area and rooms to stay.

Dropped by this pub on the way leaving Capertee. Loved the old tavern style decor. Their kitchen wasn't officially open, but the staff allowed us to sit down and chill a bit. Friendly service and open backyard area. The chicken schnitzel was cooked well and the area was booked out for lunch, so was lucky we came early. Looking forward to visiting in the future at night and I can imagine it to have a great vibe with the locals.

Freshly re-opened, the Capertee pub has now become a regular stop for me on this route. Previously, I would drive on by but since changing hands, the new operators seem to have a fresher and more modern way of doing business. The rooms are cleaner, the food is freshly made now and of a great alacarte standard. Of note for the beer drinker would be the pub standards along with some craft inclusions. Any pub with more than one Coopers tap will always grab my attention. Aesthetically, the vintage timber, stone and iron features within make the bar room a really inviting space. The dining room is very fresh and modern with a good outlook to the rear. While I didn't count them, there would easily be ten or more rooms above the pub, making this a cool cruise location for an overnight stay or even party venue? My partner made particular mention of the wonderful renovation in the ladies powder room too.
I drive the Sydney-Mudgee road very frequently; and while there isn't really anything else in Capertee to stop for, the Pub is well worth it as a drive/revive leg stretch.

Great pub, sensational burger! We sat outside and could have our dog with us. Distillery looked great, so will have to try some next time.

The food and beverage and space downstairs was pretty good. The staff were lovely. They use lumps of coal on the fires which was interesting but smelt like burning rubber tyres. I prefer the smell of a wood fire.

As for the accommodation - just keep driving.

Rooms were extremely dusty (ridiculous level). Furniture old and broken. One small fan heater that was so dusty that it actually smelt like burning plastic when on. I had heater on to take edge off (it got to -6°c) before bed then turned it off, and the room just stank of burning plastic so bad that by 1am I gave up and opened door onto balcony for fresh air. There are signs everywhere about turning heaters and electric blankets off because the pub has burnt down twice before.....

Downstairs has been renovated and has a great look. Hopefully they will do something about the rooms. Beware any venue that does not show lots of photos of the rooms.

Walls were PAPER thin. Heard every word from rooms next door even thought they were not being noisy.
I am a seasoned traveller and love pub stays but this was ridiculous. I was so sick the next day from allergies (usually very mild and easy to sort out) and the toxic smell that I lost a day of holiday. Not happy Jan

Looks a great Pub but only opens largely weekends. Hard to get bums on seats when shut but I sympathise with owners. Support it if you can.

Great pub. Good place to stop for a meal and drink. The downstairs set up was really nice and welcoming. Graham was very hospitable. The accommodation was average. Reasonable experience for the price. No hooks to hang clothes and it would have been nice to allow for fresh air into the room at night. A little noisy but expected on a main route. Average breakfast.
