Had lunch here on Sunday with some friends. Everything was amazing! Steak was perfectly cooked, and the Butter Chicken was an explosion of flavours in my mouth, that I can't get out of my mind. ??'?

Was excited for a nice meal out. Unfortunately the kitchen staff couldn't follow the request of no butter on the steak and got well done instead of medium rare. Suppose it's just a pub.

Unfortunately, it feels like the bar staff are too busy trying to rush you out instead of making you feel welcome. They came back four separate times to collect coasters from our table, and two glasses. Then hovered around even though it was nowhere near closing time.
Wouldn't go back.

My recent dining experience hit its peak with a medium-rare rump steak at a local spot. The seared exterior gave way to a succulent, flavorful center, proving that rump can be a culinary masterpiece. Accompanied by an amazing garden salad and amazing fries, each bite was a delightful surprise. The service and ambiance added to the charm. For an unexpectedly fantastic steak experience, the medium-rare rump here is a must-try.

This place keeps getting better and better. We visit regularly with our baby in tow and sometimes with family because it's convenient, family friendly, great value and always fast, excellent service (sometimes on busy nights there has been a wait but never too long).

Every meal we've had here has been amazing (bar one prawn pasta I had which has now been taken off the menu anyway, it was just a little boring to my liking but otherwise ok). The staff are second to none. Attentive, kind and friendly. My mum has stayed in the rooms and loved the quietness, cleanliness and comfort. The staff took her bags up to the room for her and made sure she had everything she needed.

It's hands down our favourite pub in the mountains and we are so lucky to have it just a short walk from home.

We called here for Sunday Roast Dinner - absolutely delicious. Pork cooked to perfection along with all the vegetables. Dessert - I wasnt keen - but my 2 fellow travellers thoroughly enjoyed theirs. Great food. Well worth the stop.

Stopped in here on Friday for a quick lunch as I travelled west. The roast chicken was sublime. Perfectly cooked moist and succulent. The staff as always were so charming and helpful. Had a chance to check out the rooms. They have been upgraded and really look very inviting. The beer garden will be the place to be in summer and don't forget the back deck. On a warm spring day the place to be.

Because we were all seniors who arrived by train, the hotel's location is ideal. We appreciated very much that our table was set near the window. So, it was a bright, happy surrounding on this beautiful, sunny day. Most people liked the food, the servings are generous. The fact that things are expensive is something one has to accept these days. (Two glasses of wine $20.00, it's just the way it is!)

My opinion of this establishment as a whole is good with disability parking, ramp access, and an inviting atmosphere with some wonderful photos of a bygone era on the walls. My wife and I are disappointed with our meals. We had the Roast Lamb (picture shown), it was more like a pulled lamb, it was dry with very little flavour and lacked seasoning. The portion size was definitely not worth $25. The frustrating factor for me was prior to our meals coming out; we ordered 20 minutes before people at our table, and our food arrived 20 minutes after they received theirs, one of which was Roast Lamb. When I questioned staff, no explanation was given, and there was no apology either. For a selection that is not cooked to order, waiting 48 minutes is unacceptable, and it will be very unlikely that we will return here.

Location: (4/5)

Close to the station, was going bushwalking and the convenient factor for us was really good. There is plenty of space outside around for parking for those that drive here.

It's your typical old bar, clean and tidy. A few tables and booths.

Pros - I did love that there was phone chargers behind the booth (bring a cord)

Service: (3/5)

When we arrived before midday it was moderate but when it's lunchtime this place gets packed very easily.

I did have a little wait on my food which was reasonable, I did manage to get my food (a burger), however by the time I finished my burger and fries is when my partner received his food.

No real interaction with the staff, no one came around and checked in on us or asked what's the plans for the day.

The Food: (4/5)

I had the Chicken Schnitzel Burger, was was tasty and the chips were nicely salted. Very filling.

I did get to taste my partners food, grilled Cumberland Sausage and that was also well cooked and tasted good.

Would I Return?:

I was happy with this pub and it's food, I would return to eat at again.

Overall - 4/5 Stars

Historical and Charming Pub
Interesting pub with indoor and outdoor dining. Has a real Australian feel about it in decor and layout. Worth visiting just to see the pub which is set on a hill. Food good I had the salmon and friends had the pie and poke bowls. Wide selection of beers. Toilets clean and parking on streets. Lawson is a pretty Blue Mountains village so travellers stop on way to Katoomba and Three Sisters for lunch.

I'm writing my review about the food and service.
Giving 3 stars, but that is only for the really good service I received and lovely dessert I had. Otherwise i would have given probably one star.
Went there for lunch with a friend, I ordered the zucchini and eggplant moussaka. One of my fav dishes, I've had it in many other cafes/restaurants, but i hadn't had it in a while. Unfortunately it was very disappointing, as it was flatter than a pancake (which it shouldn't be) a bit dry, lacked flavour, and a bit hard to even cut.
I then ordered some tea to have with my dessert. I asked for a cup of tea, but was told they only served tea in pots, which was fine. I asked for a small pot of tea, but was told it was just one size, so ok all good still.
When i got my pot of tea it was quite a big pot for one person, easily enough for 4-5 people.
Of course it was way too much for me, so i basically paid for a large pot which i obviously couldn't drink all of.
If you can make one cup of coffee, (which is what my friend ordered) then why is it so hard to make one cup of tea? or even just have a small pot of tea, which is what most places serve if its just for one person? I've never been served a pot of tea that big before, but was obviously charged for it, when I didn't really want that size.

Mountains Locals, we decided on Lawson Pub for my Birthday dinner and I couldn't have been more disappointed.
I was looking forward to my Moussaka, what arrived was a lousy thin layer of burned zucchini, no eggplant to be seen. The bread was also burnt. My meal basically tasted like charcoal.
My partners chicken schnitzel was surprisingly small and the meal overall tasteless.
My sons burger had tomato, despite requesting to omit the tomato.
A Sunday evening, the third table to arrive, they weren't busy enough for all the faults we experienced.
We felt that the meal was poor value for money, service was nothing to write home about. We would have had a better experience at a corner store.

My family and I spent one night at The Henry and we were so impressed. The hotel rooms are huge, each with a really large bathroom. High ceilings and very comfortable beds. We are a family of 5 and had the family room (with one double and two singles) and then a double room next door. So much space and everyone slept peacefully with not a noise from the road despite being on the highway. We had lunch in the pub today, staff were friendly, the food was delicious and quick to come out even with a packed restaurant. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this beautiful pub and hotel. Well done team Henry!

As a local I really want the pub to thrive, however after giving the new team heaps of chances, I'm done for a while. I'll recount our last experience. Rang to book a table for 6, arrived to a table for 3. My prawn pasta consisted of frozen prawns cut into pieces the size of my little finger nail, and my mums burger was still raw in the middle. The last comedy of errors....we waited 35 minutes for dessert but it had been forgotten so we got a refund and left. The staff aren't rude but neither are they friendly. Its a little heart breaking to no longer want to go to our local.

I was excited to learn there was a new menu which looked so much better for vegan options and the pub is looking great! Unfortunately I was a little let down after my lunch. After a significant wait I ordered the vegan curry and paid, was then told it wasn't available so I requested the only other option which was the risotto, which was $2 less. I had also ordered a starter which was forgotten by the kitchen. The chef came out and apologized personally which was a nice touch. The food was good but very small portion considering there's no protein or anything to fill you up properly. I was expecting someone to come and mention my refund of the difference but that never happened. I was quite upset after even paying $5.40 for a soda water.

Great venue, nice staff. However slow service, forgotten dishes, high prices, small portions, missed refunds.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The Licensee was great. The rooms were fantastic. Clean and had everything you'd expect. Recently renovated. The pub below had a large selection of meals all were cooked to perfection. Even though the rooms were above the pub it was extremely quiet. Beds were great so slept well. No breakfast provided but great cafes within short walking distance. We brought friends from Melbourne to show them the Blue Mountains National Park and it was a real bonus to stay at an Aussie Pub while we were there. The price was more than reasonable. Thanks to all the staff, we really enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic staff, glorious food. Old style pub with class. We ate at the Blue Mountains Hotel this evening, and it was spectacular. Brett was absolutely fantastic, going above and beyond. The friendly, approachable staff were utterly delightful: polite, helpful and clearly happy in their work. Ten out of ten for service. The food was delicious, and the steaks were a standout. The pub has an interesting and varied menu, catering for all tastes - with good quality produce used across all our meals. Thank you, Brett and team. We will be back!

Been multiple times for dinner since pub has changed hands, unfortunately almost every time there has been a problem with our orders. From basic things such as overcooked steaks through to raw salmon. Twice I've had to remind staff that I ordered a coffee nearly half an hour previously. Having to wait more than an hour for meals. Mix ups with orders.

Gave the new staff a few months grace before reviewing, but it seems to be getting more chaotic/haphazard rather than improving. Can accept that staff shortages can affect service however, the problems are more than that. There seems to be a lack of order and poor "management" by one staff member in particular. Tonight, when I calmly reminded him that I was still waiting for my coffee, his immediate response was to say "Sh*t! Sorry." That's not an acceptable way to speak to a customer.

New owners have done a great job breathing life to the place. With a new menu, new beer lines (finally) and a relaxing atmosphere, you can't go wrong for a relaxing and enjoyable dinner. Staff were great as well. New licensee clearly knows his stuff and was very friendly and accommodating to everyone. NB: ensure you pre-book as limited seats meant people being turned away who were hoping to grab a bite.

I'm assuming there has been a somewhat recent change of management and it's made a tremendous comeback. No longer is it bleak and soulless, it seems to fit the mid mountain vibe perfectly. The food was all delicious and simple. The dining areas were warm and atmospheric. The front bar area is how a pub should be and of most importance, reschs on tap

What a lovely Aussie pub. Lots of quaint features especially the stained glass featuring the 3 sisters. We had a nachos and it was really tasty and big. Definitely a share for 2. Will be stopping in here again.

Had a rump w/ salad and mash as well as a salmon w/ veg and salad.

Asked for medium rare but the steak came out half burnt and tasted like it was reheated. Mash was served in a very small portion and tasted like it had been sitting in a pot drying for quite some time.

The layer opposite the salmon skin was totally burnt and dry. The burn was about 1/4 the thickness of the fillet. The remaining portion was also dry as it was very overcooked. The veg (mainly carrot) had no seasoning and very little effort was made to cut it into any other size then 1/2 of its original size.

Someone please check the plates before they are released from the kitchen!
