A very disappointing experience.
I do not feel easy writing this review as I will be completely honest and try to do it as nice as possible. We were told at 11.58am they wouldn't take our order as they didn't open till 12pm and were still prepping. No menus at all just a shabby chalkboard. They served us FIRST after 12.05pm, we had 3 meals, it took 50 mins to come out, 1ST ORDER OF THE DAY, and one of the meals were wrong so the wait was then longer. This was a big mistake too as it was a person with severe allergy. No veges or mash available, the barramundi was possibly the worst fish ever eaten and tasted like water, obviously frozen and thawed as it cooked , definitely need some lessons here, it was horrible! The prawns, well we were not sure if they were plastic or real. The garlic sauce was very nice. The size of the schnitzel wouldn't have fed a small child and was a far shame smaller from the size shown from the bistro girl when asked how big it was. In fact she told me it was a full size schnitzel, maybe from a pigeon. This young lady sadly had terrible customer service as did all bistro staff which is such a shame to see in this beautiful hotel. The young girl didn't even know what her menu dishes were when we asked about some of the meals. Her responses were appaulling and she didnt have any interest in finding out either but really she should know her own menu! The schnitzel was also very dark, way too crunchy, hard to digest because it was so dry and the thick end not quite cooked. The others were almost finished before the 3rd meal came out which was a disappointing Father's day lunch. There was no thank you'd, no smiles, just really horrible morbid faces, even when the dark hair girl came to collect plates, she never even asked how the meal was, just took plates silently with a sultry look on her face. Didnt even ask if I was finished, just took it. No courtesy checks during meal . A few people bringing food back or waiting for meals that were not right or taking too long. Very over priced for what you got and definitely not worth the money from the taste . The bistro set up is absolutely ridiculous, no where for your meals to be collected apart from out the kitchen door from their hands. And girls, please please clean your till and front counter, it is absolutely disgusting. This should be your pride and place, the first part your customers see. The dust and dirt was that thick on your pos system and everything around it looked so very dirty which made me wonder what was behind the kitchen door. Vinegar and water in a bucket and polish your cutlery PLEASE. I've never seen more horrible , dirty, spotty cutlery on display ever. Please wipe your salt n pepper shakers..The publican, I'm assuming, man with beard was lovely and friendly, i actually feel sorry for him as this could be an amazing place to go and the bistro lets the whole place down. The barmaid was nice too. I suggest you need to do something quick smart with the bistro staff and whoever is cooking, sorry to say that about the cook. This looks like an amazing hotel that could have a thriving restaurant if run correctly , some strong management and had a friendly atmosphere inside the bistro or even just a little good old fashion customer service. The outdoor area looks amazing and set up really nicely. A beautiful view out the back windows. I'm sorry to leave bad feedback about our meal and your staff, I do not ever like to do this unless I feel it is absolutely necessary and in this case i certainly do but i hope you will take this on board as you could absolutely turn that restaurant around to do your beautiful hotel very proud. It has so much potential..Good luck.
Girls your workplace should be happy place and one to be proud of and you need to make your customers happy too, smile, interact with your customers , take pride in your surroundings. You will be the ones that are rewarded too, you know. Hospitality can be a wonderful job when run correctly.
