Great place before, during and/or after a sporting event at the SCG or Moore Park. Friendly staff who gifted my mates son a free shirt because he was soaking wet through after rain abandoned play at the cricket. A rough around the edges pub (in a nice way) and it feels like exactly what this pub is .... an old skool boozer.

We went on a Tuesday night. The steak offer is amazing value and the steak was one of the best pub steaks I've had. The staffwas super friendly, too. Recommended.

Universal have taken over management, thank the heavens it has because the beloved pre-sports venue is back and building! Still has a bit to work on, but the menu, the staff and the sports are 5 stars. Still some restoration to go and upgrades where needed but otherwise a great local pub once again.

Amazing pub right near Holden Pavilion. The happy hour and specials were great for a place so near central.

It was a joke I had the 250g Porterhouse Steak it was dry chewy the steak was as tough as old boots definitely the worst Steak I've had in my entire life I'd give this 1 Star and a 1/10 the staff were also very rude and unhelpful.

My next Complaint is the Burger was also very flavourless and the pattie was all chewy and this whole meal was just so disappointing because I traveled 40 minutes to come to you today for a great Sunday lunch with my friend Anthony : he is also writing a similar review about this Pub as well one bartender tried to charge us $2000 for a Meal this young female stuff said a rainy day price increase telling me I had to pay $2000 or we don't get our meal.

My next Complaint is the Chips were very under seasoned and chewy this whole meal was just unacceptable I wanted to take it back

I love the atmosphere of this bar. It was very chill and comfortable. The bar is kept really clean as well. Service was great too, super friendly and helpful.

We came here to try their Sunday roast. We chose the lamp rump, and overall, it tasted alright. Nothing too special. We also ordered the hot wings. They were quite overly fried, but it was a great nibble to have while having a beer.

Would definitely come back to have a drink here and maybe play some pool.

The food used to be good especially the sunday roast, however after a recent visit I am afraid the standards have plummeted in the kitchen and behind the bar.

Not sure what's going on with their taps, but the VB was lifeless and the glasses were dirty.

I've also seen better atmosphere at a funeral home.

Located along busy Cleveland Street this historical pub was our location for dinner before heading down to Hordern Pavillion for the Kip Moore Concert. A couple of cold beverages before some dinner. The food menu was VERY limited but tasted great nonetheless. The barmaid with a lovely Irish accent was pleasant and helpful, however can only rate 3 stars due to the limitation of food options. The interior also appeared quite drab given the options of pubs around the city having some competing and vibrant decor. No photos attached as it really was not worth taking any. Sorry guys.

Great Sunday roast! Big serving, plenty of sauce, Yorkshire pud tastes perfect. Pub music was spot on singalong too. Surprised it wasn't busier! Get in before news catches on.

The wings at the bat and ball are the best on the planet. I'm not exaggerating - I just came back from the USA and none of the wings came close to these.

Legit ranch dressing as well. Honestly can't imagine better wings.

Come to the bat and ball for the best damn wings on earth.

Got the chicken burger which was very nice, with fantastic sauce and coleslaw and crispy fired chicken. The chips however were a let down as while they were crispy, they lacked any salt whatsoever.

Bar service for drinks and ordering was fast. However the wait for food was immensely long, with our entire table waiting roughly 25 mins for some burgers.

Nicely located next to Moore Park. Classic pub decorations.

Standard Aussie old school pub, in the best possible way. Good value simple meals. Nice pork belly roast. Beers on tap including some of the greats (Reschs, VB). They didn't have Foxtel though which is a pretty big miss - couldn't watch the AFL game we wanted. Pretty disappointing for a place called "Bat & Ball" and down the street from the SCG!

Great local hotel. Their Kitchen is ammazing. Has a few tv's for sport viewing and a pool table. Some accommodation available upstairs. Bit difficult to get to via public transport. Happy and friendly staff ??'???'???'? worth a visit.

I used to love the Bat & Ball as a good solid local pub, but the last two times I've been the Sunday roast has sold out by 5pm and even their steak options. The menu has also been reduced over time. Still great friendly staff but please sort out your food options.

Every now and again you feel compelled to leave review for a great experience. My visits to the Bat and Ball whilst travelling to Sydney for work have made this happen. The service was exceptional made me feel like I was at a country pub in the city.The staff noticed I was watching the footy in my phone and immediately offered to put it on the tv . I payed for a couple of beers with my dinner and they delivered the second beer to my seat after I finished. Little things make for a great experience when travelling. I ordered the Peri peri chicken and it was exceptional nice and light and well crafted meal. I wanted to try the other options on my second night but couldn't it was too good.
So happy I came

This place felt like it had been my local pub for the last 10 years the first time I went there! Trivia started out as just something to do as we got food. (AMAZING food BTW) This then turned into a super fun slightly casual game that involved winning stupid amounts of free drinks for almost everyone involved. The staff were so amazing as well as it was really reasonably priced. Get down and support businesses like this so we don't lose them!

Nice Aussie pub with choice of beers. Decent food and spacious. Popular with locals as well as those in the area for Moore Park or events. Food is good but not much variety. The bar is well stocked and the crowd attractive.

$10 for a kg or $16 for 2kg of wings on a Monday night with any drink purchase was definitely the draw card for us this evening. There had also been reviews on urban list that these were some of the best wings in Sydney - they were ok. A little dry and not so spicy for hot wings but good value for he price. The nachos were pretty damn good and service was pretty awesome too.
