We had a shocking experience with the owner of this establishment last night. My husband and 2 sons (11 and 6 years) were in the pub watching the end of the Matilda's World Cup game. It was a very exciting match and the bar was full and rocking, with every penalty kick being greeted by loud cheers and people banging on tables, chairs, walls etc. My husband (who doesn't drink so was completely sober) and kids were joining in on this fun. Then, from out of nowhere, a lady (who appeared to be drunk) marched over to my 6 year old, got down right into his face and told him to stop kicking the cabinet he was leaning against. She then manhandled him aggressively and had further words to say at him. My husband, who was literally right there, suggested that as he was a 6 year old a better approach would have been to have a quiet word to him who would have corrected this behaviour. The lady then proceeded to criticise my husband's parenting skills. She then returned to her seat at the bar and gave my husband the finger! This whole exchange left my husband, children and other patrons completely bewildered. To target a 6 year old in that moment in a bar full of drunk adults who were behaving in a much more ruckus manner was unbelievable! So many patrons approached my husband after this incident to apologise for the woman's behaviour however she continued with it, canvassing the room telling her side of the story trying to garner support, which wasn't forthcoming. On the way out after the game multiple people actually stopped my husband to tell him just how well behaved our boys were. In short, the owner of this venue was on a power trip and targeted the most vulnerable, a 6 year old, whilst drunk in her own establishment.
