Be careful when paying on a card I was charged $20 a night over the price that I was quoted , their reason being , two person's rather then one , never heard such a lame excuse to pocket extra cash . I've done a far bit of traveling using all types of accommodation , this was a first to find no toaster or micro wave in a motel room , my opinion is they rely mainly on contractors to fill their rooms where price and convenience's are of little importance.

Yesterday I had a snitzel which was nice. But tonight they were swamped and did not communicate to their customers the potential wait times. Photo shows 1hr 39m for 3 meals. If it looks busy, go and get something else. PS. Pizza tasted ok

This pub is terrible. Rude staff. Takes hours waiting for a meal no warning of a long wait. 3 members of my family were finished their meal before 2 of us even got our meal. The staff don't want to help you just plain rude and the food was horrible. Cooked wrong my steak was well over done burnt when ordered medium rare. Never bother to order here again or even get drinks if I can avoid it. Used to be a great pub now run down and trash

Excellent food not typical pub fair. Very busy Saturday night but meals still quick. Peri Peri Chicken was excellent as was the Asian chicken special. The place does need a good clean.

Our crew couldn't be more disappointed, some meals on the specials board were not available albeit the board couldn't be reviewed, the duty manager on that day was extremely rude, the next evening our crew waited at least 80mins for a meals only to question its whereabouts to find that it wasn't in the system even though fully paid, same person was the root cause. Then after lodging a written and verbal complaint, the apparent head manager didn't turn up as advised. So in essence, middle to upper management are not in control of this venue.
Our crew of six could not recommend this establishment, go to the Cobb & Co, different level of meals but superb customer service.

It would be quicker to go online, apply for a job, attend an interview, wait for a call, complete a trial shift, complete an induction, go online & do a RSA to get a drink.

Then complete a catering apprenticeship to get a meal.

How hard can it be to cook a meal for someone who ordered 5min after the kitchen opened? Can't tell me there isn't any staff, there are worse than flys.

Have stayed here four times now the rooms clean and well presented the food is first class some of the friendliest and most polite staff

We stayed here and the room was decent and we enjoyed the musical bingo. I ordered chicken for dinner and it came pink, but they made me another one.

Service 50/50 been good most of the time but wanted to chage me $7.5 for corn as a side for the $41 steak i ordered. Which says 2 sides and a sauce. 2 sides? Tonight steak was terrible but otherwise was has been good.

Lunch was overpriced and disappointing. My Nachos were lacking meat. Probably a tablespoon at most.
Husbands steak to be fair was good.

Wow, great little pub. Great location right alongside the Balonne River. Had the steak sandwich it was huge and awesome. Best we have had during our 3 week travels through southern Queensland.

Waited for my food for an hour a half, which never arrived. When I went to resolve the issue, I was told to wait another 10 minutes. 10 minutes had past, then met with really terrible customer service from lady with a mole on her face, telling me that the chefs were angry so she doesn't know what has happened to my order or when it would arrive. Then to say that my order had been completely forget me. So I asked for a refunded and expressed my disappointment. After which I was told to leave the premises. Ended up getting a full refund, but the rest of the people at my table told me that food was really bad so maybe I dodge a bullet. Would not recommend this place,.

It's a tough job reviewing places especially a hang out of the locals. It's an old, tired pub. There is nothing new or modern. The dining room staff are very friendly and efficient, bar staff not so much especially tall Pom. I've noted someone else has stated its the best meal they've had, sad really because whilst the food is OK, it's no where near the best we've had. Ordered a chicken Kiev which was over cooked (deep fried) mashed potato that had texture from something old and pepper sauce that had no punch. The szechuan calamari was nice according to BH but nothing to rave about. Ultimately if the town decides this pub is the bees knees of culinary cuisine, then let's remember there's not much to choose from and it's nice to be fed. We wouldn't go again and please, pull up the carpet in the dining room and replace it.

During dinner, I saw mice running around and got woken up with cochroaches crawling over me, Also noticed other small bugs on pillows.
Walking distance to IGA and other stores.
Hated the stay there and will never stay again.

Decided to grab some grub on the way back to the big smoke from this joint. Service was quite good and a good feed ??'?. Just watch out for the cockroaches in the beer garden they'll carry ya kids away....apart from that it's a place to haul up!

Food was prepared and just microwaved. Plate was not even hot. It soon got cold and the avocado was from a packet with not even an avocado waved over it. Beer could be colder as well especially for the price.

My wife and I had a meal at the bistro and both meals were very ordinary. The vegetables tasted like they had been soaking in water for hours and the sausages were heated up in the microwave and had hard sections in the sausages. The caramelised onion was burnt and was not fresh. I cannot understand in country towns why you get overcharged for food and the quality is terrible. How hard is it to cook 2 sausages on the grill. Very disappointing.

Excellent food. The ribs were some of the best I've ever eaten. Only lost a star for the cigarette smell that kept coming through. Would definitely recommend.

Our meal this evening was delicious and served quickly. The staff overcompensated for a slight mix up in our order which we only mentioned to give them a headsup should anyone else complain. Top marks to a great country pub.

Good lunch menu. Meals are large. Staff friendly and attentive. The worst coffee I have ever experienced. Lost a star for that reason.

We had one the worst pub meals ever here. Dreadful pork cutlet - tiny, deep fried morsel served with dried out sweet potato fries and slaw covered with slime. Our other dish was a daily special - barramundi. It was an undercooked rolled up slab of fish and the veges were v ordinary. I don't know what all these other reviewers are talking about!!!

By far the greatest steak / beer you can have. Atmosphere is welcoming an service makes it feel like family.

Whether you're driving through for a cape trip or happen to be working in town. You would be mad to not experience the quintessential food / hospitality this venue provides.

Best pub in south east Queensland and highly recommend for all travelers who want to experience the way it should be.

Beautiful old motel but updated to today's standards. Central location, well priced and the meals were a great
size and tasted fantastic. The outdoor dining area had a wood fire to keep their customers warm and happy. Can't say a negative thing about this location

Stayed overnight. Very clean motel room, GR8 gluten free dinner & b'fast, very helpful staff. Can highly recommend.

Had a great feed. Rib fillet with chips and veg. Came with chips salad and veg!!!! What a bargain. Food was great. Beer was cheap. Service was friendly. Out door area was very nice. All in all, a solid winner.

Accommodation is also quiet good. Will be my go to motel is St George from here in.

A group of Past Students from an Agricultural College since closed held a reunion based at the Australian Hotel -Motel which we booked out for the weekend. The service and hospitality was outstanding. The team there made our stay a very enjoyable one. Ken.

Had a very enjoyable stay here over the Easter weekend. Excellent food, clean accomodation, friendly hospitality - and they are dog friendly (in accommodation and the beer garden)! Overall a great country pub experience, and well worth the visit to St George

My partner and I stayed over on our way to posting to Townsville.
They were very accommodating it's so lovely to find accommodation that allows pets and the rooms were beautiful.
The bed was super comfy compared to our last accommodation so that was great for our backs.
We got room service for dinner and the meals were exceptional so much flavour.
I would highly recommend
We tried our first Queensland beer I must say it was pretty good.

A great local pub with really friendly staff. nThe food was amazing and very reasonably priced. nI had the crumbed steak with chips and salad; very yummy!nThe publican came out before our meals and offered us some complimentary garlic bread, which was a great touch.nIf you are ever near St George, definitely give it a try!

We decided to stay in the old hotel for the nostalgic feel, not the newer motel. We stayed in the upstairs above the bar in a lovely room with double doors that opened onto a long belcony overlooking St George Terrance and the Bilonne river and watched the birds in the trees and on the river for hours.nThe shared bathroom had a full size bath and two showers, each had its own cubicles and were clean and well maintained.

AMAZING FOOD!! And they're so quick with their service. Very friendly people working there. If you need a good feed, this is where to go.

Rooms and bathrooms are clean even if a bit dated. There is a sense of comfort and nostalgia about the hotel.nThe food was amazing... best BBQ ribs ever, pure melt in the mouth deliciousness!!!
