My partner along with an interstate friend ordered fish of the day stated on the menu board to be orange roughy. The meal arrived and the fish was battered. They asked the waiter to check exactly what the fish was, as it was not like any orange roughy my partner had previously eaten. The waiter returned from the kitchen and told them it was in fact Barramundi. Considering the false advertising my partner suggested compensation in the form of a complimentary beer. He was told by the waiter " we can't do that" after consulting back of house staff.
The words orange roughy were then deleted from the blackboard menu. Soon after, the waiter returned informing my partner that the fish was in fact as advertised and had been prepared the previous weekend, at least 3days earlier.
Subsequently another staff member reiterated the claim that our battered fish was in fact orange roughy. A request to speak to management was denied, even though he was (according to staff) upstairs in the building.
We are sad staff were not supported by management to provide cordial customer service.
